Take A Look At Persona Q: Shadow Of The Labyrinth's Battle System

A new trailer has appeared online showcasing gameplay from the upcoming 3DS Persona game, Persona Q: Shadow Of The Labyrinth.

It's a Japanese video for the game, so it is difficult to glean a lot of details from the video, but the general premise comes through. The game features first-person dungeon navigation and random battles that take a cue from Etrian Odyssey.

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth was recently confirmed for release in North America on 3DS. The game should be available for 3DS later this year.

  • I feel like this is wrong yet right somehow, having a persona game play like Etrian Odyssey and being on a Nintendo console.
  • GREAT! Now bring the PersonaQ special edition 3DSXL to America PLEASE! Please Atlus. I have money for this!

Hmmmm....I'm looking forward to the story, but gameplay wise in battle? I'm not sure.

    INSERT MASSIVE EXCITEMENT HERE.
  • ETRIAN ODYSSEY!!!'

  • Looks interesting. I have mild interest in Persona, but I can't say much about this gameplay because I haven't played Etrian Odyssey.

  • Day one buy? Yep.

  • Sooooo...it's Shin Megami Tensei x Etrian Odyssey?

  • I REALLY need to learn Japanese... It kind of looks like Etrian Odyssey, at least the overworld movement... battle looks almost completely Persona. Wasn't exactly expecting that.
  • IT'S SO DESU!!!!
  • Kanji and Aigis in the same party? My two favorite Persona characters? Day-one buy.

  • Wait what? You can mix the casts together? This is the best thing I have seen about this game yet.

  • Ugh.. I hate first person.

  • So its like a persona game without fusion, unless whoever was playing was super hardcore
  • to be honest this cools my interest a fair bit, I preferred the style of the original 3 and 4's gameplay and disliked 1's first person view. Though I will absolutely buy that special edition XL

  • Looks interesting. Another 3DS games that I really want.

  • While it sucks that its going to be first person POV for battles, its not something I wasn't expecting. SMT games tend to go the first person when on handhelds. Its the way its always been. So I can be forgiving on that. What I do like is that its a 5 person team you take into battle instead of 4. And as always the music sounds awesome and will likely be a highlight of the game throughout its entirety much like the other Persona games which is always great. The battle system looks simple to use and will likely feel familiar to Persona veterans while not alienating newer players like some dungeon crawler/RPG games can. I'm honestly looking forward to this. Persona 3 and 4 are two of my favorite games and this amalgamation of the two looks very promising.
  • Can't wait to see the cast interactions in English.

  • There are some people saying the battle system seems too different. It looks almost exactly the same as Persona 4's battle system, so I have no idea what those people are talking about.

  • I like that the battle system itself is, save for the first-person perspective, similar to Persona 4's. Also, Kanji's 2D chibi art is...adorable.
