The lights are on
Square Enix and Platinum Games have teamed up to bring a sequel to 2010's Nier, a bizarre RPG that gained a cult following. The sequel, Nier: Automata, continues the wackiness of the first in a post-apocalyptic setting. Recently, a new trailer was unveiled for the upcoming game.
This teaser puts emphasis on grandiose battles and contrasts them with dramatic moments. Nier: Automata stars protagonists 2B and 9S, who are androids sent to fight off hostile machines on Earth in an attempt to save mankind.
Nier: Automata releases for PlayStation 4 on March 7.

Finally a good trailer for Automata! Still not super amazing, especially compared to the trailers the first NieR had... which is weird, since this is obviously the better production (Cavia brought the weird, and put out their most polished game with that... but comparing them to Platinum, on their worst day, is kind of a joke). But a ton better nonetheless. I'm just happy they put out more than trailers to promote this - the demo, and especially that E3 gameplay video of 2B taking on the Theater Robot; those were the things that put Automata on people's radars. And Thank God for that - this is one that's not to be missed! Just like the last few Taro Yoko games; I'm quite happy more people are going to get the chance to see that now :)

Please don't suck...
I'll wait for reviews, but it looks really good.
I'm honestly surprised they didn't port the original to PS4 to promote the game.
Seems like such a no brainer considering how rare/hard to find the first is.
Regardless, I'm looking forward to it.
I am situated squarely on the fence for this one. I am not normally a big action game player; I'm not good at and struggle to get into games like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, God of War, Darsiders- basically any game that relies on combo-based fighting. That said, if an action game offers up enough in other qualities (like a great story, awesome setting, etc.), then sometimes I can have fun simply playing through on 'normal' difficuly, not worrying about being particularly good at the game. While I didn't finish Nier, I do have some fond memories. So, I figured I'd give the Nier: Automata demo a try. I ended up having a pretty damn good time, so even though I'd normally pass on a game like this, I kinda want to pick this one up. Sigh. Decisions, decisions...
Surely they could have shown off something with a bit more "oomph" to draw interest? This trailer is about as bland as it gets.
awesome I will be getting mine imported form the uk since they have that sweet steelbook
The music is already very reminiscent of the original. Here's hoping they can pull this off.
I've never played a Nier game but this has me interested. Depending on how well it does I might grab it! Whenever I finish Yakuza 0..
That robot buddy looks like a PS1 console turned on it's side. Is that intentional?
March 7th can't come soon enough.
