Just like 2009's New Super Mario Bros. Wii, the upcoming Wii U sequel should be a blast to play with three friends, but it looks like its also chock full of great single player gameplay.

New Super Mario Bros. U releases on the same day as Nintendo's new system, November 18. Get a brief look at a few of the game's new modes in the video below.

It looks pretty cool to me, might be the first New Super Mario Bros I get! I just really wish Nintendo was focusing less on 2D Mario and more on 3D Mario... I mean Super Mario Sunshine is in my top 15 favorite games of all times for chirst sake!

Hmm looks pretty cool but how are you supposed to be running and jumping while controlling your movement while using the stylus to create platforms to jump on? Most people only have 2 hands last time I checked. Maybe use your mouth?

Looks awesome, but I wish they would concentrate less on these 2.5D Marios and instead make true 2D Mario games... and 3D Mario games. Doing something in-between doesn't necessarily scratch the itch for either or both :/

I've definitely voiced my skepticism about this game before, and to be honest, I still am. But they do seem to be taking it the right direction.

Looks to me like this will be a good, if small, iterative step forward for Mario Bros. I'm excited to see what kind of challenges they cook up for challenge mode.

On another note, visually this game looks better than I thought it would, but still not anywhere near as fantastic as the Galaxies or 3D Land look. Not sure why they can't capture that same visual flair in 2D.

Nintendo, how retarded are you? This series is known for it's many, diverse characters, yet you insist on having the extra two be different colored toads. How out of sync with the world have you guys gotten over the years?

Looks cool, but to be honest, I'll probably pass on it. Seeing as though it looks really similar to New Super Mario Bros. Wii, I'll probably just wait until they release a new big-budget 3D platformer for their new home console.

I have yet to see a single thing that makes this game look fun. This is the second-worst Mario series (the worst being Mario & Sonic at the Olympics).
