The lights are on
Despite the console transition, NBA 2K14 developer Visual Concepts says that NBA 2K14 is still coming out guns blazing.
The latest developer diary for the current-gen versions of the title discusses some of the refinements for the game, including AI defending, driving to the basket, and player spacing on the court.
For more on the game and some of this year's additions, be sure to check out Matt Bertz's exhaustive overview.
NBA 2K14 comes out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on October 1, on the PlayStation 4 on November 15, and for Xbox One on November 22.

While I haven't been a die-hard fan of the 2K franchise, I have been impressed with them in the past. Even with no competition, they have seemed to make improvements from year to year. Now, we welcome back EA into the mix with NBA Live 14. I have a history with EA going back to NBA Live 95 on the Sega Genesis. Even though their track record hasn't been pretty (or existent lately), I was expecting a lot from them. Instead, all I have been able to find is how EA is really working on their dribbling mechanics. That's it... more realistic dribbling? Not impressed. Here, we see a fine example of what kept 2K alive (in most areas) even while living in the shadows of EA. After 2K11 was one of the most played games for almost a year, 2K12 didn't do well at all. So, 2K revamped the game, and we saw the success of 2K13. It shows they have learned their lesson to not just coast on previous success and are dedicated to continuously making a better product. To me, when Lead Game Designer Mike Wang openly admitted they simply dropped the percentages when attacking the rim and realized a lot of fans felt it was cheap, this speaks volumes to the staff's commitment to getting better with each installment. I am excited to see what this game will have to offer, especially now that it once again has a contender.
