For all Mortal kombat and DC comics fans, this is for you.

Start off graphics are pretty good. Not amazing, but pretty good. Story is all right, but the main thing is game play. You can be about 12 Mortal kombat guys+ a bonus guy, or be 12of the DC comics character+ a bouns guy. This game is so freakin fun.

Once again, this game is really fun. If your a fan of fighting games, Mortal kombat games, DC games, or just playing hours betting the crap out of you and a partner, then this is for you. I would give ortal Kombat vs. DC universe a

8.75 out of 10

Blog Post: An Heroic clash of Worlds

Mortal Kombat has been a controversial game that allows players to ultimately brutalize their opponents in either their famous "Fatalities" or some sense of humor for gamers out there. Now, DC Comics mixes in with the fun of Mortal Kombat to develop a well-rounded game. First off, the story mode consists of choosing your side, DC Universe or The Mortal Kombat. They both face a common problem when there worlds are colliding also their enemies to. Going through the whole story mode builds arcade skills and entertaining cutscenes in between battles. Secondly, the "new" Klose Kombat and Free-Fall segments of free matches are really entertaining as well. Graphics are detailed from the enviroments and the character models. The only problem is that there are a lack of unlockables in this game for you to keep on going when you are practically done with the entire game. Overall, the entertaining clash of these Two Worlds will please a variety of fighting players internationally or maybe even worldwide.

Blog Post: Brings The Pain. DC hit the shelves, I've been hooked. With twenty playable characters(Shao Khan and Darkseid boosting it to twenty-two) The different battles I've been able to create are timeless. (I've had Superman battle Shang Tsung, and pitted The Joker against Scorpion). With so many different possibilities how could anyone get bored? Well to start off, even though there are a healthy amount of characters to toy, and experiment with, the story mode covers most battles people may think of. Plus both adventures in the DC, and MK universes are short lived, and fairly easy.

The graphics are splendid for a fighting game, but I wish environments were more crafted, and had enough variety. The fact that some stages are split into two doesn't help much either, I shouldn't feel like after I play and defeat a character on one level, that the next one gives me a case of deja-vu. The combat system is strictly based on the MK genre. Fatalities and Brutalities are present in this game, but they aren't up to par with the traditional MK violence. Even though I had a couple Favorites( Liu Kang second, where he punches his victim in the face, then delivers a bicycle kick that should have drove their heads into the ground, and then adds the finishing touch by jumping like 20 feet in the air, and crushing his victims stomach with a flaming stomp. Also The Jokers uncensored head shot fatality is Awesome too), most felt like they were just thrown into the game, to save time. I feel like the game had more potential to be one of the greatest fighters on the market, but It falls short(I think because of it's "T" rating). However, MK v.s. DC still is a good buy, especially if your a Dc or MK fan like me(More so MK)

Wiki Page: game guide 2

hey its me barakas fatality on ps3 is <<>>

Blog Post: game guide reviews

love it but there wasnt all the characters

Wiki Page: game guide #1 mk vs dc

now for non finishers of story mode win you you finish both stories you'll unlock shou kahn and darksied. the easiest fatality is braka's, (-(-or-)-)down down x,y,triangle,or square but read blogs on game guide's profile owner scorpionvssubzeros gaminformer profile

Blog Post: Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe - Xbox 360 Review

Not the Mortal Kombat you were expecting? Well, I'm still trying to get a bit more online in (barely got any before the PSN went crazy last week and weekend). But, I had picked this game up fairly cheaply awhile back (like $6 at Disc Traders) and figured it would be a good way to get by the week before the new release. I had completely missed this one when it first came out. I was aware of it, but it never made it onto my list of must-grab games when it released about 2 1/2 years ago.

The premise is pretty simple: come up with a somewhat silly storyline that merges favorites from two different 'worlds' and merge them into a single game. This has been done before (probably most notably by Capcom with their vs. Marvel stuff). To be honest, the story here holds up better. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was a blast to play, but the story was paper thin. Here at least, there was an attempt made to explain things such as peoples' limitations (Supes is hurt by magic) and trying to balance out the roster (Joker can hit pretty hard for a skinny clown). Speaking of roster, that was one of my bigger curiosities going in, so here that is:

Mortal Kombat DC Universe

Scorpion The Joker
Sub-Zero Catwoman
Sonya The Flash
Shang Tsung Superman
Kitana Batman
Jax Wonder Woman
Liu Kang Deathstroke
Raiden Lex Luthor
Kano Captain Marvel
Baraka Green Lantern
Shao Kahn Darkseid

For those hoping to see Sueprman ripping someone's head off though, be forewarned that this game was aiming for a Teen rating. There's still some blood to be had, but it is not the vicious affair you expect from a Mortal Kombat game. Depending on who you anticipate playing it, that could be a good thing. I felt a lot more comfortable playing this in the living room during the day with the kids coming in and out, than I did the newly released Mortal Kombat. Interestingly enough, having played both games, I can see several elements of this game having made its way into the newer release from last week. So, let's get into the specifics, shall we?

Graphics - 7:

There's some nice touches to be had here. When you fight your opponent, they get beat up physically and their outfits take a toll as well. This is something they did in the recent Mortal Kombat reboot as well, and it looks pretty good here. It's not terribly bloody, but you can see some scrapes and bruises, with parts of Sonja's pants tearing away around the hamstring area, or a deep gash through the back of Flash's costume. The characters all look pretty decent in-game. They animate smoothly (if a bit slowly, but that's more of a gameplay concern) and have a vivid use of colors that reminds me of a comic book - which is probably a good thing given the source material. Backgrounds at first glance sometimes look okay, but upon closer inspection are a bit rough-looking. You tend not to notice it with the attention on the fighters in the foreground, but it is a bit disappointing. The characters in the cut scenes are serviceable if unspectacular, with the occasional goofy stance - or when you notice people turning their heads rapidly only to see their long hair remain perfectly stationary.

Sounds & Music - 6:

The music is not really bad or there - it's just good. It does nothing to stand out, and does the job of filling space, but I can't recall a single memorable tune coming out of it. The sound effects are good enough to get the job done, but they too are fairly unremarkable - and somewhat repetitive as well. Again, none of it is bad really - just none of it is terribly good either.

Gameplay - 7:

Okay, there's quite a bit to talk about here. For starters, the control scheme is rather interesting. The Mortal Kombat games originally were a strictly 2-D affair, while some of the latter ones became 3-D. This one merges the two together, using the analog stick to control the 2-D mechanics (like jumping and ducking) while the directional pad allows you to step up and down in the environment, giving it a sort of tangible 3-D feel.

Plenty of moves and combos give the characters variety, though some did feel stronger than others. It was also interesting to see how some of the DC characters had their powers brought into a Mortal Kombat game. Flash reminded me of Cabal with his speed and the special attacks he could use to make you start spinning. Captain Marvel had a ducking sort of lightning move that brought him up behind a character, much like Raiden. In that sense, some of the DC characters felt familiar, which is probably a good and bad thing at the same time.

Also, I can only describe the combat as 'floaty'. Jumps seem to hang a bit longer than then should, and when you punch in the air, instead of a fist driving down at your opponent on the ground, your kombatant hangs for a moment to execute the move, which felt a bit odd to me. Special attacks were easy enough to pull off, and there was plenty of environment interaction, which I've always liked. It's fun throwing someone through a stone statue, and some stages allow you to plow into your opponent and execute a free falling sort of quicktime event. There is also a close quarters kombat as well that uses the same principle. Cool ideas, but I didn't really like either as much as I thought I would.

The free fall was neat the first few times, but it felt like it slowed the game down. Ditto the close quarters (though it did give you a nice closeup view of the warriors, allowing you to take in some of the bruising and costume damage, which was nice). Also, the quicktime events really need to be handled a bit differently. I don't like it when games use those off to a side or corner - it pulls your eyes away from the actual action taking place. I prefer games like God of War that put them front an center for you to see overlaying the action.

Like most one-on-one fighting games these days, there is also a bar that fills up over the course of combat, allowing you to do certain moves - when it builds up all of the way you can do a rage/super that gives you enhanced strength and makes you harder to take down for a very brief period of time.

Intangibles - 6:

There is a story mode, and it's pretty interesting how it is told from two different sides. It gives you a reason to play through it twice - once as the DC and once as the Mortal Kombat side. Still, I'd guess both versions are less than 3 hrs to get through. They do use an interesting mechanic that shows up in last week's Mortal Kombat release as well - where you take control of a single character for a chapter, fighting off a series of staged opponents. I like that as opposed to just the arcade/ladder versions found in most fighting games where you fight a random assortment of enemies before facing a boss or two and then getting a canned ending. You still get that here from arcade mode as well, but that is sort of the 'norm'. To me the structure of this story mode is a good thing and I'd love to see a bit more of it as you are told an 'official' story, instead of trying to make sense out of 20 different characters' different endings.

There are online and challenge modes as well, but it's hard to score these terribly high. There's almost no activity online that I can see (no doubt due to the game's age and newer fighters out there) and the challenge modes were more frustrating than fun in my opinion.

There is a decent selection of characters though, and that kept me burning through the arcade mode for awhile (I'm one of those people who has to beat a fighting game with every character). Still, it really doesn't take much to burn through the provided content, and the lack of online life really hurts a game like this that was clearly meant to be competitive.

Overall 6.5:

Not a bad game. For the price I picked it up? I'd call it a decent if not great game. There are some cool ideas that got put in, and it was fun using characters usually not found in titles like this. The Teen rating will be a boon or bust for different reasons. For me personally, the finishing moves were kind of 'meh'. I'm used to old school Mortal Kombat where Johnny Cage uppercuts an opponent's head off, creating a fountain of the red stuff. Then again, this is a game I can play when my youngest walks through the living room, and I don't have to pause it. So, there is some give and take to be had. I would say buying the game at full price, it's a tough recommend, but if you can find it really cheap, it's not a bad deal if you're looking to kill a weekend or two with it.

Blog Post: awesome

This game is awesome. As good as MK Deadly Alliance was, one of MK's biggest problems arrived: multiple styles. Scorpion wasn't meant to use a katana, he was made to beat the krap out of people. While a few like Subzero and Baraka were good exceptions (Baraka can either cut you with his claw-like hands or with his blades, so its all good), all the characters used weapons wackier than animalities. That along with some questionable gameplay mechanics in Deception and Armageddon, MK hasn't had a great start in this century. Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, the kross-over that everyone thought would fail, actually succeeded at bringing back the MK magic. Even though they toned MK down to a T rating, this is the game that brings back all those memories along with giving MK a Marvel vs Capcom experience.

Gameplay wise, this game rocks. No longer do you have to switch styles, now you just FIGHT...with your hands and feet. Besides the familiar feeling, the game offers some great new changes. For instance, as cool as the powers are, its even cooler to use your powers as a nice finishing touch to a combo (ex. a few punches, a kick into the air, and a harpoon to yank them back for more). Besides that, some of the new mechanics are quite welcome. Klose Kombat brings the action up klose and personal with the attacker attacking and the defender...defending. Its kinda a fun mini-game since you're guessing which button the opponent is pressing and its sometimes fun to see what the characters do to each other (The Joker+Circle button=Laughs). Then there's Freefall Kombat, which was also fun. Like Klose Kombat, you have to guess the button to kounter your opponent, but unlike Klose Kombat, kountering your opponent doesn't just end the sequence: you switch positions. Plus, its nice to see your character land right on the opponent or knock them down hard (The Joker knocking someone down with a punching glove is so epically funny). Then there's Test Your Might, which isn't quite so good. If you hit your opponent towards a wall, you ram them through, with both players pressing all four face buttons trying to either increase or decrease damage. While I can bet most of the MK characters don't mind being knocked down a few stories (even Sonya would get up from that), I doubt that even Scorpion will get up from getting smashing through dozens of office buildings. That aside, unless you're playing as Superman (who is probably too nice to push people through walls), its ridiculous seeing characters like Scorpion doing that. Then there's Rage Mode, which certainly fits into the series. As you use your special attacks, as opponents block your attacks, and as you're getting beaten up pretty bad, the meter will fill, allowing your attacks to do more damage and making you nearly immune to attacks (you still take damage from attacks, but the attack isn't going to stun or knock you down). All and all, MK vs DC's gameplay is spot on with the original and adds some new mechanics that work with the series (minus Test Your Might).

Then there's the character roster. The characters that made MK so great (minus Johnny Cage and Goro) are here along with some of DC's finest. While every MK plays like you remember, the DC cast fits in quite well. Superman uses just about all of his powers (minus flying around), Batman uses all his high-tech gadgets and martial arts skills, Green Lantern creates walls and hammers with his ring of willpower, and the Joker uses all of his own wacky weapons (one of them can result in some quite "shocking" results). All and all, the characters and their moves fit in well. If you're wondering why Superman can be harpooned and why the Flash doesn't just run around in circles, the fiction of the story at least keeps things balanced. The only character that doesn't quite fit in is Catwoman. No offense, she is a fun character to play as, but DC fans would rather have seen someone else. The roster has 11 characters each, making 22 playable characters, but despite having more people than Marvel Vs Capcom 1 (clone characters don't count!), I felt that both sides could have had at least one more character. MK could have included Cyrax, Kung Lao, Sektor, Cyrax, and Sindel while DC could have included Black Adam, Cheetah, Metallo, Nightwing, and Sinestro. Other than that, the roster is nearly perfect and there are plenty of epic battles to be had (Batman Vs Subzero is the best battle of the game).

The graphics in the game, while not the best looking fighting game, are easily the best in MK. The detail on the characters is incredible, such as the designs on Scorpion's mask or Baraka's face, is incredible. Just as incredible is the damage that is taken visually: instead of just seeing Scorpion getting knocked down, you see scars on his arm, tears on his costume, and even his mouthpiece knocked off. The graphics are not realistic, but stay true to both MK and DC.

The music and sound effects are all good. Most will easily love Scorpion's harpoon and GET OVER HERE, but the other sound effects sound good as well. The music definitely fits the mood of the battles and the voice acting in the story mode is actually not half bad. Maybe not all the voices were great (Green Lantern's voice wasn't that great), but there was more good than bad.

The stages work rather well, offering a nice variety as well as multi-tiered fighting. Some of the best stages are MK's Outworld and Raiden's Temple, DC's Batcave and Metropolis, and the merged Themyscira and Throne Room. Out of all 14 stages, 11 of them let you battle in Free-Fall Kombat (3 let you Test Your Might, but no one likes that, right?), so that guarantees plenty of epic battles. As epic as most of the stages are, there was one that didn't quite fit: the UN Space Station just felt like a generic space station that didn't fit MK or DC. Having an MK and DC character battle in a MK or DC stage is cool and all, but sometimes having an MK vs MK fight at the Green Lantern Corp. makes just as much sense as two DC charactering fighting at the Wu Shi Academy. All and all, the stages work well with the battles, making the battles easily mix with the action.

Then there's the story mode, in which you choose either the MK or DC side and from there, you see their own points of view. You can see how the heroes and villains of DC react to the MK warriors or vise versa (Huh, who are these people in spandex?). You play as 7 characters for MK and 8 for DC in the campaign (NO FAIR!!!). From there, the story goes through chapters, in which you play as one character for 4 battles and then switch to the next character until the last chapter. Most will not like either story, but I actually liked the MK story, since it had some pretty good fights (Sub-Zero+Batcave=Awesome!!!) and the fact that the fights had a logical reason for happening. I didn't like the DC story as much, since most of the fights didn't have too much logic for why they're fighting and didn't have as many good fights. The endings for both aren't the greatest, but are somewhat of an interesting twist (the DC ending is hilarious). The story mode will certainly entertain you for a while.

Now we arrive at one of the two flaws of the game: extras. There is no Krypt, there's only two unlockable characters, and no alternative costumes (all you got is a slight color change with the START button). Its disappointing not to see alternate forms of the characters (I was hoping Batman's alternative would be all black) and the fact that there's only two extra characters to unlock is disappointing as well. Besides the missing Krypt, there's only one extra mode besides the Arcade, Story Mode, and Training: Kombo Challenge. This mode is difficult and I wasn't quite a fan of it, since it doesn't unlock anything.

The second flaw is the censorship of MK. The blood doesn't splatter on the ground and there's no gore or decapitating. Specifically, fans aren't too happy about the Fatalities (or the Heroic Brutalities). While some Fatalities still had some of the kill in them, such as Scorpion taking off his mask and burning the opponent alive, others aren't quite as good such as Baraka's and some are just pointless like Kano's Knee Stomp (seriously, look up that fatality here at http://gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2010/05/03/the-best-and-worst-mk-fatalities.aspx and tell me if that looks cool). The censoring went so far that while one of Joker's and Deathstroke's fatalities involving a pistol to the head, the camera moves away from the opponent. Why? Its not like their heads exploded violently or their brains went flying all over the screen, so whats the point (The UK version didn't have that censoring. What's the f#$% America?)? Plus, both of the unlockable characters lack any fatality at all: they just laugh at the fallen opponent. [Sigh]

Most fans will most certainly be offended by the lack of blood and gore spilled on the floor, but for all the fans that missed the old kombat, this is the game to get. Midway has brought MK back to its gameplay roots, making the fighting fun and awesome again. While I can't wait for the real next-gen MK, I can't wait for MK Vs DC 2, and until then, I'll be playing this. Maybe next time in MK Vs DC2, they'll make it T rated, but the kind of T rated that's almost M rated. Until then, lets kross our fingers on that.

PS:

You know you want to play as them in the sequel (Sinestro on left, Black Adam on right).

Blog Post: Is it the 90's again?

Mortal Kombat was a good fighting game back in the day, but in the 21st century, the series hasn't had any luck.

Their alot of improvements from previous titles of Mortal Kombat. So heres a list of what i believe to be an improvement

The good stuff:

1. Visually i think they made a great leap ahead, sub zero and the rest of the cast never looked so good, as well as the DC charecters.

2. Collision detection has improved, it really looks like their hitting each other rather then having you think " Did i just see his hand go threw his head?"

3. The Audio is great in the game, yes they still have the cheesy yet epic music, and some of the same catch phrases of yesterday, but it all sounds better. And hearing a fist land right into your oponents face only to hear them grunt is very satisfieng.

4. The multie tiered arenas add some cool factor and makes it more interstin than starring at the same statue behind evry time.

5. The new fighting mechanics are good, fist fighting while falling is as epic as it sounds.

As much as their is good stuff, their are also some bad things about the new title.

The ugly:

1. As much as they tried adding to the combat, i still feel like their just need to be somehing more. Its just more of the same to me, and gettin rid of the charaters weapons, well, it does take back the game to the good ol days, but it also takes away from the new.

2. The krypt is no longer in fassion, i found myself replaying Mortal Kombat just to unlock more tokens back in the day, but now the krypt is no were to be found. That means no more unlocking new arenas, hidden charecters, or altreanate costumes.

3. Fewer cast than Previous instalments. After the enormous cast of Mortal Kombat Armagedon, this line up seems whimsicle.

4. I found more then a few laggy games online, not the worst lagg, but in a game were every punch could count, lagging should be the least of your worries.

All in all, i see a future for the series when emerging with the new cast. If they bring back some of the old, and add more to the new, the days of Mortal Kombat will be as good as new. Fans of the series wil mostlikely enjoy the title, while others may over look it and shy away, weather thats a mistake is entirely up to you.

Wiki Page: Mortal Kombat Vs.
