The lights are on
Electronic Arts today unveiled screenshots and a short video interview for Mass Effect 3's cooperative mode "Galaxy at War," confirming reports from earlier this week.
The publisher also says the mode will be unlocked after entering a one-time use "Online Pass" code found in each new copy of the game. The code has been used in previous EA titles, including Mass Effect 2, which unlocked access to the Cerberus Network. The code can also be purchased separately, though a price point was not announced.
“The theme of galactic war in Mass Effect 3 presents us with the perfect opportunity to introduce multiplayer into the Mass Effect series,” said Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series. “Multiplayer not only features amazing combat and deep customization options, but it will give players another way to help the war effort against the Reapers in the main event -- the single player campaign.”
AWESOME!!!!!
Still don't like it. Goes against the spirit of the first two games. Reeks of EA saying, "Yeah, we got this new online pass thing going so you're gonna have to have multiplayer in ME3." Not going to stop me from buying the game though. Gotta just roll with the punches. Who knows, I'll give Bioware the benefit of the doubt.
I was concerned, but alright. you sold me.
This sounds pretty interesting. Multiplayer effecting the story in single player hmmm.... i like it! I am glad tho that you can still get the best possible ending from just playing single player as well. it worried me a bit when he said that the better you do in multiplayer the better your ending in single player will be.
Looks... More impressive than I thought.
We better be able to play as elcor
I had my doubts at first but they've got me really hopeful about this multiplayer now! Nothing sounds cooler than being an awesome Drell assassin! >:D
Co-op is perfect for Mass Effect.
also why does my internet explorer have problems with loading the gameinformer site constantly? its the only site that has problems for me, ill sometimes have to reload it 5 times to get it to come up
Er... cool, I guess. Really hope they plan on improving the single-player combat.
I approve of this design decision wholeheartedly. On paper anyway... we'll see with hands on.
Excitement :)
You know, I was skeptical about adding multiplayer to Mass Effect when I first heard about it, but this video really has allayed a lot of my fears. Tying it into the story is a brilliant move, and I'm glad that they're focusing on a co-op story-based mode rather than Call of Duty or Battlefield 3 style competitive modes because they just wouldn't mesh with what Mass Effect is. Good job, Bioware.
