After playing Mario Tennis Open for quite some time now, I have figured out how to unlock each character. Read below to see how to do this.

• 1. Mii: Default
• 2. Mario: Default
• 3. Luigi: Default
• 4. Princess Peach: Default
• 5. Green Yoshi: Default
• 6. Princess Daisy: Default
• 7. Boo: Default
• 8. Bowser Jr.: Default
• 9. Diddy Kong: Default
• 10. Donkey Kong: Default
• 11. Waluigi: Default
• 12. Wario: Default
• 13. Bowser: Default
• 14. *Baby Peach: In special games, after completing level 3 (Pro Rings) of Ring Shot, you will unlock Baby Peach. By completing it, I mean you must score all 500 rings and nothing lower.
• 15. *Baby Mario: In special games, after completing level 1-3 of Super Mario Tennis, you will unlock Baby Mario. By completing it, I mean you must make it all the way to the finish line and hit the finish line.
• 16. *Luma: In special games, after completing level 3 (Superstar) of Galaxy Rally, you will unlock Luma. By completing it, I mean you must make 100 hits with less than 3 misses.
• 17. *Dry Bowser: In special games, after completing level 3 (Inksplosion) of Ink Showdown, you will unlock Dry Bowser. By completing it, I mean you must score 30 times without letting Wario hit the ball 3 times (he can hit it 2 times or less).
• 18. **Red Yoshi: You must use a special QR code to unlock Red Yoshi.
• 19. **Blue Yoshi: You must use a special QR code to unlock Blue Yoshi.
• 20. **Light-Blue Yoshi: You must use a special QR code to unlock Light-Blue Yoshi.
• 21. **Yellow Yoshi: You must use a special QR code to unlock Yellow Yoshi.
• 22. **Pink Yoshi: You must use a special QR code to unlock Pink Yoshi.
• 23. **Black Yoshi: You must use a special QR code to unlock Black Yoshi.
• 24. **White Yoshi: You must use a special QR code to unlock White Yoshi.

* These characters are unlocked by doing something in the game.

** These characters are unlocked by doing something not in the game. You can't unlock these characters in the game. Some of these characters might not be available for your copy depending on if your copy is NTSC or PAL.

How To Unlock Characters Using QR Codes: In order to unlock characters using QR codes, you must, first, go to the file screen. This is the screen where you pick which file you want to use. Then, hold onto up on the d-pad and click start. You can now scan the QR code and unlock the character!
