Focus Home Interactive has released new screens and images of Magrunner: Dark Pulse, a downloadable first-person puzzle game that centers on manipulating magnetic fields.

While Magrunner's sterile testing environments are reminiscent of Valve's Portal series, the gameplay mechanics provide their own unique challenges. Players can charge objects with magnetic fields which will repel or attract other objects depending on their polarity. For instance, players can make a makeshift elevator by stacking two crates on top of one another, and charging one with a blue field and the other with a blue – if you stand on the top crate, you'll be propelled into the air until the magnetic fields become out of sync and the crates tumble away from each other. You can get a better idea of how it works in the video below.

Magrunner Dark Pulse comes out on PC, PSN, and XBLA later this year.
