On the heels of signing a massive contract extension, San Francisco 49ers quarterback is staying in the spotlight as the centerpiece of the first official Madden NFL 15 screenshot.

Given the fidelity of this (probably touched up) screenshot, this is undoubtedly a new-generation shot. We're not sure what Kaepernick's teammates are doing behind him, but it's probably a good idea that he's high tailing it the other way because that looks like an awful blocking formation. The major takeaway from this screenshot is that the game is featuring individual player tattoos for the first time.

Copyright laws make featuring tattoos a tricky endeavor because the artist owns the rights. Just last year, tattoo artist Stephen Allen sued the company and former running back Ricky Williams for featuring his work on the box of NFL Street in 2004. The case was eventually dismissed by the plaintiff. But because of the lawsuit, the NFLPA recommended that players get waivers from their tattoo artists to avoid these legal entanglements in the future. SportsBusiness Journal writer Eric Fisher reports Kaepernick did just that, which is why EA Sports had the go ahead to add the tattoo work.

Madden NFL 15 is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on August 26.
