The lights are on
Late last year, CEO Martin Tremblay revealed that LEGO Batman 2 would be the next installment in Traveller's Tales' long line of LEGO games. Now Warner Bros. Interactive is making it official, providing the first details from LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes.
The sequel is based on LEGO's new line of DC-infused toys, in which Batman shares the spotlight with a variety of other acclaimed heroes. Players will still be able to use the Dark Knight's gadgets while on patrol in Gotham City (including a new power suit, and a Hazard Cannon for sidekick Robin), but the sequel adds straight-up superheroes to the mix. Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Green Lantern are just a few of the heroes who will be pitching in to (temporarily) rid the world of the Joker and Lex Luthor.
"LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes builds upon the action and cooperative gameplay experience established in our best-selling LEGO video game to date, LEGO Batman: The Videogame," said Tom Stone, managing director, TT Games. "We're offering fans a rich and expansive Gotham City environment filled with cool characters, great customization options and plenty of surprises that families, young gamers and DC Universe fans can enjoy together."
When Stone mentions best-selling, he isn't kidding; the first LEGO Batman game has sold more than 11 million copies worldwide.
Look for LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes this summer on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC, Nintendo DS, 3DS, and PlayStation Vita.
