It was simple, fun, and had zombies. What more can you ask for? Well Left 4 Dead 2 is still an amazing game, as a 95/100 would show but it wasn't as good as the first one.

The new zombies were interesting. They weren't nearly as effective, a Jockey is helpful to move someone away from the group like Smoker does but once the survivor is incapped the Jockey must move to a new target. A Hunter on his pounce will go until shoved or killed and a Smoker can grab and drag someone from a distance. The Spitters were disgusting and awesome but they were very ineffective unless you had another special infected to keep the survivor held on the goo. Boomers were much more potent. The Chargers are the only new specials I completely embraced. They had range like a Smoker and damage and potency of a Hunter.

The Uncommon Infected were also really cool, they didn't change the game too much but gave a fresh idea to the game and something new for me to kill.

The new weapons were also really cool. The Magnum is very ineffective on Easy and Normal because it's power is only needed for Special infected. The new primary guns were nice to see so we weren't all grabbing the same things, we had preferences now. The old Left 4 Dead had a submachine gun and an assault rifle, and the theme repeats. Now we have perks of certain guns and what not, and I loved it.

The melee weapons were my favorite part. A weapon without reloads was something any zombie game needs. The Chainsaw was also interesting to use but annoying against a tank.

The new equipment. Not too favored, I don't need adrenaline to pull hitmans (ditching teammates), though it was nice to use to heal and revive quickly. The things like Boomer Bile were cool but just unnecessary. The laser sights were a really nice addition in contrary to the rest of the new equipment, accuracy is always needed. The incendiary and explosive ammo was cool but the incendiary was unneeded as most infected died before it was helpful. The new ammo was unnecessary and I rarely found it helpful.

The Realism, was a real nice addition to a zombie game, probably one of the best aspects of the new game. Instead of playing a zombie game where body shots work, why not make it feel more like a real apocalypse? Your friends won't respawn midlevel either. Have fun!

A very fun game, that deserves a 95/100 and nothing less.

Wiki: Left 4 Dead 2 Guides

Guides for Left 4 Dead 2

Wiki Page: The Left 4 Dead 2 survior's handbook

Left 4 Dead 2 improves almost all of the game play inside compared to it's older predecessor. This guide will show you how many secrets there are and how to prevent becoming a Zombie yourself!

Survivors Hand Book

As with most Zombie games and movies your role in this game is playing as one of the few survivors of the Zombie pandemic. You play as ether one of these characters:

Nick- Race: Caucasion ( white ). Gender: Male. Nick is a seedy loan shark who had to keep moving due to enemy's of his past coming back to kill him. He has a hard time trusting others but eventually trusts the rest of the survivors.

Ellis- Race: Caucasian, Redneck. Gender: Male. Ellis is a party loving hillbilly. It never seems to hit him about how dire the situation is. To him the pandemic is just a big game is is happy to be able to shoot a few rounds out of a gun and tell tall tales about his many adventures with his cousins.

Rochelle-Race: African American. Gender: Female. Rochelle used to be a news casters assistant but when her boss was killed by the many zombies she saw her chance to shine. She eagerly went down south to report on the pandemic but after meeting up with rest of the survivors she hasn't had time as they try escape. She also seems obvious to the fact that in a worldwide Zombie pandemic no one is going to be there to film, publish, or watch her reports.

Coach- Race : African American. Gender: Male. The last of the survivors, Coach used to be a football player on his way to stardom untiil he broke his back. He can still walk but could never be a football player again. He spent the rest of his life up till the pandemic coaching football. He is the largest of the group but trusts everyone and has a kind heart.

In left 4 dead 2 supplies are everything. You must manage ammo, bombs, health, ammunition types, and your and other player's health. If you get low on health in the game check to see if other players have a health bar first before healing yourself. It's better if you work as a team rather than lone wolfs due to the heavy reliance on other players. Many zombie types leave you in able to move or use weapons until the other survivors shoot it. Stick together in a tightly knight group and communicate. Don't separate yourself from everybody else's aiding hand.

  The Horde or Common Infected

Attracted to loud noises ( i.e clown zombie's honking-noses, car alarms, pipe bombs and fire works. Boomer bile( see Boomer for more ) also attracts them

Zombies won't nitice you if you keep your distance with your flashlight off. Crouch for more accurate shots or snipe them with a long-range weapon

Boomer

They make weird burping/ gurrtal noises before they appear

Keep your distance. Boomer's puke a bile on you that impairs vision and attract's zombies. Also shooting them at close range makes them explode bile and guts on you.

If in the worse case scenario you get puked on, get in the nearest corner and defend yourself with a melee weapon.

Spitter

If you ever see one runs toward it so it can't spit. They're like the snipers of the zombie world but cant shoot at close range.

Get out of Spitter acid as fast as possible, it increases in damage over time.

Don't try save in capped ( incapacitated ) survivors in spitter acid. you'll end up the same way if you do

Spitters slow down momentary after spitting.

When killed small pool of acid forms at the base so if you don't what to lose health shot, don't melee.

Smokers

Spits it's Long range tongue at you to string you up for the other zombies to finish off.

Use the seconds after getting hit to cut off the tongue grabbing you

Appears most oftenly on rooftops. Makes coughing sounds when close.

Jockey

The jockey jumps on the back of the survivor and controls the direction of said survivor.

In getting the jockey off use mele to kill preferbly. Leaves less bullets or hits going into a survivor then the jockey.

It cackles and laughs when close so get prepared!

Charger

The Charger ram's into the survivor and then pounds the survivor repeatedly against the ground

Makes fast, freight train like movement but can't change direction while in the ram.

Makes loud, deep crys and screams when he charges.

Hunter

Hunter pins the survivor against the ground and claws them to death.

Roars/Screams when it jumps to pin you

Press shove repeatedly when a hunter is close because it stuns them long enough for a well placed bullet or melee attack

The Mele Weapon.

Chainsaw= A powerful melee weapon that cuts through infected like they're warm butter. This is the best melee weapon in the game but its awesome power is limited by a gas tank so use it wisely.

Machete, katana, axe= Slicing Melee weapons. Does greater damage ten blunt ones. Great for all kinds of mutilation!

Cricket Bat, Base-ball Bat, Night stick= Blunt melee weapons. Great for smacking and beating. These weapons aren't guaranteed kills unless you hit the zombie's head off. Sometimes does damage but doesn't Kill.

Health

Health Pack= A pack of health as the name Say's but this health pack restores about 80% of your health back. You can never heal to full. These pack's are very limited through out the levels, sometimes only a substantial amount in the end of the game safe room so use only in great danger of dying.

Defibrillator= A reviving tool that gives dead survivors-not incapped dead- half they're health and a new life. I don't recommend using this unless after you beat the game you want to go for the achievements that come along with it.

Bombs

Molotov *** tail= Explodes upon impact and leaves the ground burning for an extended period of time. The fire can damage you and the survivors so beware. The damage fire deals to regular infected is great, and it lights special infected on fire doing damage, eventually killing them. You can set a Tank on fire and then retreat to a hiding spot to kill it with ease -- the fire will continue to damage it until it falls

Pipe Bomb=Attracts the regular infected (horde) and then detonates. It's especially useful for deterring the horde after you've been vomited on by a Boomer, or for distracted zombies while you make a break for a safe room.

Other improvements to weapons are the special ammo types like the incendiary ammo ( fire bullets ) or the explosive ammo. These upgrades are nice but use them as soon as you pick them up because they replace your health pack. Another thing is the laser sights. These sight greatly improve accuracy since you can't aim down your sights it helps a ton so don't don't ditch the gun you attached it to.

So thats about it for this guide use these pointers well in your game and make a habit for using them. It will make you pro. As always remember to think the things you're p[utting in your inventory through. Soon you'll be a Zombie killing pro in no time. Happy Zombie Hunting!

Left for dead is amazing if you love Zombie games!

Wiki Page: The Machine Gun Guide of L4D2

(This is going to be a series of guides outlining the diferent aspects of l4d2).

There are many weapon types in this game that can register in categories of several tiers. The categories run through as Machine guns, Shotguns, and sniper rifles. This guide will be covering the machine guns of the game. This includes the machine pistol called the Mac-10, M16, AK-47, and the SCAR.

Automatic guns are the fastest shooters, but also the biggest ammo wasters of the group. The reload time is moderate along with the effective range of the weapon. It's great for running and gunning do to it's decent clip size. There are different characteristics to each gun but it all chalks up to personal preference. I'll do my best to detail each so you know what to expect when finally holding one.

Power: Low

Clip size: 50

Reload Speed: Fast

Mac-10: This comes with a silencer option. From what I can gather, the silencer does less damage but calls less horde to the player. Lowliest of the guns, this *** child spawned from a 9MM and the m16, does the least damage but has the highest fire-rate of all the weapons. I would advise the novices to avoid this gun until they learn to better fire in bursts. An inexperienced user will quickly find themselves helpless in a horde and reloading more than actually killing.

Advance users will find it a perfect tier one weapon for taking out horde at a distance and quickly dispatching special infected through a barrage of head-shots. This gun is great for both close and medium range.

Power: Medium

Clip size: 50

Reload speed: Fast

M16: A weapon with a history that shares the same clip size, and nearly the same fire-rate, as the Mac-10. The firepower of this gun succeeds the Mac in every way. It also has an increased range and the fastest reload time of all the machine guns. This weapon is suited for gunning on the run and delivering a death barrage from long distances. This is arguably the favorite of most l4d2 users. The only downside is shared with the Mac-10 in the idea of ammo consumption.

Power: High

Clip size: 40

Reload speed: Moderate

AK-47: this weapon's own history can and has filled books, but this is l4d and should only last a paragraph or two.

This weapon has the lowest clip size of all the others in this category and second to lowest in fire-rate, along with sub-par accuracy if you compare it to the M16. So what makes this weapon worth the risk? Pure firepower. What takes the M16 3 shots the AK only does in one. Special infected fear it and survivors respect it. Like the other rifles, burst fire is the best use.

Power: Moderate

Clip size: 60

Reload speed: Moderate

SCAR: The weapon leaves little impression, but mostley because it's uncharacteristically good. The clip size is the largest of the rifles but the fire-rate is crippled by a static 3-round burst. The firepower is alright and is in between the M16 and AK-47.

The burst fire is an unavoidable handicap that can limit play and creativity. I've been speaking to the point of annoyance about the need for a disciplined finger trigger but the scar does it for you, yet it restricts the player in a few ways. The extra bullets would seem to help but the burst takes control of basic ammo conservation along with a longer than average reload time. Take this weapon if you don't see your favorites or there are no better alternatives. It's a balanced weapon with no real downside nor advantage.

These are the Machine guns. Arguably the most used weapon of all the classes. Each with their own personal advantage and drawbacks that make personal preference and play-style key. Next I'll be covering shotguns and snipers.

Blog Post: The Zombiegamer's Left 4 dead 2 review

I have personally finished Every Left 4 dead 2 Campaign and they are all creative, great , and awesome. The zombies in each level look astoundingly real the combat is fulid and never pauses as is the story. The story can be sketchy at times especially when there will be no cutscene to explain how you got where you are , but Valve makes up for that with begining campaingn dialouge. The weapons are very veried in style and they all alter your play style. Also the weapons can be added to by adding laser sights or any assortment of ammos. The in game weapons include the chainsaw, crowbar, kitana, baseball bat, machete, rigby bat, scar rifle, M16, AK47, grenade launcher, hunting rifle, sniper rifle, shotgun, auto-shotgun, and the spas 12. Melee weapons are a big reason why Left 4 dead 2 is better than Left 4 dead. The new addition to the zombie horde are the Jockey a zombie who can jump on you and steer you towards hazars, the spitter a zombie that spits acid on your team, and finally the Charger a zombie who grabs you, runs with you into obstibles, and ultimately kill/incapacitate you. The 4 protaginist are Coach ( the one farthest to the left) who is well a coach. Nick the next one to the right is nick a con man who is not a team player and only cares for himself and his suite. The next to the right is Ellis a country boy mechanic who is inthusiastic but strong and defintely a team player. The only female is Rochell by far my least favorite character dosent do much buts A.I is a compolsive healer so useless but useable. as u can see theamount of on screen zombies is amazing.

Blog Post: Game Over... continue? Let’s see.. take my review of Left 4 Dead; add a new cast of characters, an actual cohesive story, the inclusion of melee weapons, and the introduction of some new 'Super Zombies.' Let simmer over five all new chapters and…. Mmmmmmm that’s good Zombie Apocalypse!

Left 4 Dead 2 follows four new survivors as they battle the undead hordes. They are Ellis, Coach, Rochelle, and Nick. The story is much more focused this time around as the group first meet on top of a hotel where there should have been a helicopter rescue in Savannah, Georgia. But as the choppers disappear into the distance without them, the four decide to stick together, a sort of strength in numbers approach. The new goal is to make it to a local mall, where CEDA (Civil Emergency Defense Agency, a not so subtle reference to FEMA and the complete balls up that was the response to Hurricane Katrina), supposedly has another evacuation center. Needless to say, things don’t go as planned.

The new crew, in an ironic twist, must pursue their rescuers. They travel from a carnival theme park, through the dark, dank, and dangerous bayou. Then they must stumble through a torrential downpour, before finally arriving in the 'Big Easy' herself, New Orleans where rescue waits on the far side.

While the first game didn’t really have a story as such, rather more like cliched zombie movie scenarios, L4D2 has a coherent plot that stretches across five chapters. The set ups are still the same (working your way through various safehouses until a last stand where you must survive until rescue arrives), but now there is a narrative connecting them… although it is pretty thin. Still, it’s nice to see progression towards a goal if nothing else.

What really impresses me about the new levels though is the cleverness of the design. ‘Dark Carnival’ takes you through a theme park complete with zombie clowns with squeaky shoes that draw other undead walkers towards him. You can even play a version of 'Whack-a-Mole,' or try your marksmanship in a shooting gallery. It's a good laugh if nothing else. ‘Hard Rain’ takes you through a small town to get to a gas station on the far side so you can get fuel for your boat. Once you get there, you have to turn around and come back and that’s when the deluge starts. As the rain inundates the surrounding things look completely different, making everything you just went through virtually unrecognizable. It’s very smart design, and those are just two examples... there are other ideas in the other levels that I won’t give away here.

The gameplay is pretty much the same with a couple of noticeable additions. The most obvious one is that you can now use melee weapons in combat. Why would you want to risk blood splatter for close quarters combat? Because it’s bloody fun, that’s why! You can still carry a rifle or shotgun as your primary weapon, but if you take a melee weapon it replaces your pistol (the one with infinite ammo that was your back up in the first game). There are lots of options for zombie bashing, everything from crowbars and fire axes to billy clubs, samurai swords, guitars and even frying pans. Again, allowing the zombie menace to get close enough to actually use these weapons is a bit risky, but lopping off undead heads is extremely satisfying. And besides, if you spent much time with the first game, you know you’ll end up getting cornered by seething masses of zombies, so now you have the option to blindly hack your way out!

There are also some new ‘Super Zombies' in L4D2. Along with the Boomer, Hunter, Smoker, Tank, and Witch, you must now face the Spitter, Charger, and Jockey. Spitters will… wait for it… spit acidic goo at your team from distance. This is sort of an "Area of Effect" attack, whereby a swath of ground gets covered. Step into the goo and you get hurt. Oh, and if you do manage to take out a Spitter still be wary, when they go down they dissolve into another hazardous puddle. The Jockey, as his name implies, is a short, quick little bugger that will jump on his victims shoulders and ‘ride’ him away from the group. The Charger will sprint at the survivors at high speed, bowling them all out of the way. But whoever he ‘catches’ in his over-sized fist will be slammed into the ground repeatedly, knocking out large chunks of health, until the rest of the team regain their feet and take him down.

There are a few other additions I’ll mention quickly. The first is the inclusion of the defibrillator. You can now bring back dead teammates immediately rather than waiting for them to respawn in some distant closet. There is also an adrenaline shot you can use instead of pain pills. You get a temporary health boost that diminishes a little quicker than the pills, but it also grants you some extra speed.

Added to the pipe bombs and Molotov cocktails is the new "Boomer Bile" grenade, a flask of nastiness you can chuck at your enemies. Just like when a Boomer pukes on you, nearby zombies will be drawn to whatever the bile touches. Tossing one at an onrushing Tank so the zombies mobbed him instead of me brought a huge smile to my face.

There is no appreciable improvement over the original Left 4 Dead in either the graphics or sound departments. The graphics are still perfectly functional if not all that impressive. The sound work is once again centered on the cries of the undead and the sound cues of the ‘Super Zombies.’ You’d better learn the new ones quick! The Chargers grunting roar or the Jockey’s demonic laugh will soon have you calling out warnings to your teammates. Oh, and stick around in each safe house. The survivors banter back and forth much more this time. Ellis' stories in particular are pretty funny.

Again I must state that I don't play online multiplayer. But of all the great titles that would compete for my time, L4D2 would be at the top the list. I love the idea of playing as the zombies! In addition to the ‘Versus’ and ‘Survival’ modes, there is now a ‘Scavenger’ mode as well where you have to hunt for gas cans to keep generators going (if you play as the humans) or keep them from their task (if you are playing as the zombies).

While it doesn’t take many radical leaps forward, Left 4 Dead 2 is more of the same zombie mayhem you enjoyed so much the first time around with just enough added to make it worth the full price for admission… at least I think so. More of the same, in this case, simply means more zombie killing fun! But with the inclusion of melee weapons and the other additions, it gives you just enough variety to make everything seem fresh again. Once again, it’s best played with a friend. At my house we have played each of these maps over and over again, and this is still the go-to series for late night drunken fun!

Cheers,

Si

Score = 9.5 / 10

P.S. With the following tips, your time down south may turn into the most enjoyable experience of hell on earth.

First and foremost, never venture away from your team, but if you must, take a partner with you. There are areas where this is crucial, even if splitting your team in half is risky. The most notable instance of this is the Dead Center Finale, where the best way to survive is throwing gas cans down from the higher levels of the room. But don't do this without a buddy to watch your back, for if you are alone and far off from your team mates, you are an easy hunter, charger or smoker target.

Second is forming your team, which is always important because playing with people who you actually know or have played with before are easier to communicate with or might be more understanding if you accidentally shoot a gas can and create a huge wall of flame when a tank is behind you. And though playing with computers may not be as satisfactory as playing with other humans, they do have their strong points, being that they give you everything they pick up and never leave you. Some players to be wary of are anyone who has a (1) following their name. Some of the best games I've played have been ruined when to people decide to work together in trolling the rest of their team. But even if they deserve to be kicked, it takes three votes to pass a vote, and if you try to kick someone whose name is followed by (1), both people are going to vote no, making the vote impossible to pass.

Third is not a game play choice, but has to do with settings. First, always have your volume up so you can hear key changes in the scenario, such as a witch crying or tank music. Second is, as pointless as they may seem, subtitles. These are extremely useful in campaigns such as Hard Rain or The Parish, where there are loud noises, being the hard rain and the bombing run. These noises may make it easier for the infected who make lots of noise to sneak up on you or make you run straight into a witch. But if you have subtitles, the jockey's laughter will be displayed at the bottom of your screen

Fourth is weaponry, knowing when to use what and where. When you start a campaign, the weapons are often not very good, but your best bet is taking a full auto weapon unless there's a shotgun better than a standard pump action. I tend to ditch the rifle once I find a good shotgun, but balance is key, so you might want to do a quick weapon check and make sure you aren't going to have a team using the same type of weapon. The reason being that shotguns aren't accurate and can't hit far-off zombies, so if your partner is being smokered, you're probably going to need an accurate weapon. This brings me to my next point of secondary weapons. For riflers, melee weapons will be the best choice because rifles aren't as good for close range fighting. The opposite goes for shotgunners, who will want to take a pistol because of its long range capabilities. The choices for pistols each have disadvantages and advantages, the normal pistol can be dual wielded, giving you more shots before you are forced to reload. The magnum can't be dual wielded, but is much more powerful. Bear in mind that whichever pistol you take has unlimited ammo.

This concludes my first guide, so while I hope it is helpful, message me if I missed a point or made a mistake.

Blog Post: it's not great but it's good

The game is good but not great. In the first one the maps (dead air, deth toll, ect.) did not tie together in the start and end it was just survive, it never showed how you got there or anything. In l4d2 they tie together. After you get out of the mall in dead center you take the car and the naxt map the car is on the highway and can't go any more. After that map when you get in the chopper it crashs in the swamp (where the next map starts) It is more of an online game so if you don't have xbox live than it gets boring after a while. But its a good gam so i say give it a try.

File: Left 4 Dead 2 The Sacrifice DLC Trailer

zombies ZOMG!

Blog Post: The Apocalypse Done Right

It's the NEW apocalypse. Bring friends.

Where to begin, well, I'll break it up into sections for your own convenience.

Graphics

This section isn't exceptionally important, but some people just HAVE TO HAVE perfect graphical appliances, so here we go.

The graphics being 2009 (OMG 2 years ago!!!!!1!) are just, brilliant. The zombies look like they should, bloodthirsty, sometimes injured, sometimes dead. The gore is especially over-the-top, which most games don't normally take it into account that a Spas-12 can blow a midget-sized hole in someone's chest. This game not only does that, but it also adds the appropriate blood spray, screams, and fully depicted organs/bones.

The guns themselves also look like the perfect weapons of destruction, from the katana to the cricket bat, to the AK-47 and the chrome shotgun. Everything is in order. PERFEEEECT order. All the special effects are also near cinematic in the way they, well, do stuff. Such as a propane tank being shot, a loud bang, a burst of flames and sparks, and a pile of dismembered zombies on the ground spread around a 20 foot radius.

Let's not forget the people you play as! Every single one of them looks like they were ripped out of real life, handed a gun and told to shoot everything that moves. They blink, talk, breathe, gasp around Smokers, yell, yelp, run, jump, climb, walk, limp, and die. All in extremely beautiful fashion.

To summarize graphics, they are better than most games these days such as Homefront.

Gameplay

Valve handles this game like only Valve can, very fashionably and utilitarian. That means both nice to look at and to use.

The HUD (Heads Up Display) shows and tells you everything you need to know. You will always be able to locate teammates in a hurry, gather objectives, and pick up all the little things you find. This is all accomplished through a unique technique Valve uses which puts a colored outline around objectives, items, and players to where you can see them when they go around a corner (the players) or jump through a window.

This also can tell you the current state of the player through a color coated system of outlines for the players ONLY. Say, Nick (one of the players) is in perfect health and he goes around a corner, his outline will show up green, but if he was badly hurt, his outline would be red.

Gameplay includes controls, and they are also very usable and simple. All of the controls are similar to most Valve games, so fans of Valve will feel at home. The only major differences from most games is that reload is B and crouch is LB. But, there is also a handy little feature that allows your player to snap around quickly to face anything behind them.

Sound

Like all Valve games, no sound is left out, from the perfectly timed musical scores when the Horde attacks, to the blasts from a shotgun, everything is quite in check.

This also includes the sounds of the Special Infected, and the plain Infected. The Special Infected each have unique and eerie cries. From the Smoker's excessive coughing, to the Hunter's bloodthirsty cries. The Infected also have their own moans, groans, screams, and their Horde Cry, in which every zombie in the area attacks at once.

Let's not forget the gorey sounds too! When blasted with a shotgun, the infected will give a cry, you'll hear a kind of squishing sound, like melons being crushed and sliced at the same time. You can also hear the sickening thud of a zombie taking a plunge after taking a Desert Eagle to the chest.

The environment also has it's unique sounds, such as dogs barking in urban areas to birds frantically fleeing the area. All of the explosions and bursts of flames and all that are all top notch in the sound book. Every gun has a realistic and militarily correct sound. From the Spas-12 to the Desert Eagle. All is as it should be.

Multiplayer

All right, I had to write this section because alot of trolls out their, all they want is multiplayer, so I'll tell you about it.

The multiplayer is basically this, a team of 4 survivors, hopefully friends because they'll be depending on each other for survival, and a team of 4 Special Infected, fight against each other while the Survivors try to complete whatever objective it is they need to complete.

Now, these objectives are Scavenge, in which the Survivors gather Gas Cans to escape the Infected. Versus, in which the Survivors and the Infected simply combat and try to kill each other while the Survivors attempt to reach the Safe House without dying. Campaign, in which 4 friends simply play the normal campaign together and try not to die. Realism, in which the outline I mentioned earlier is removed, along with most of the HUD, same as Campaign, gameplaywise. And a combination of Realism and Versus, I think you can figure out what that is.

Now, like I said for the Survivors, the controls for the Infected are easy to use and remember, basically the same except the Survivors pick stuff up and the Infected can't and so on. Infected also have largely the same HUD, except no ammo bar or anything, just health, a reticule, and your teammates health.

That about wraps up multiplayer, explore the options and have fun. Now, I gotta get back to the Safe House, like I said, it's the Apocalypse done right.

Forum Post: Is Left 4 dead 2 multiplayer

left for dead 2 has more features, i just dont like the characters as opposed to the first one.

Blog Post: Left 4 Dead 2 is a Joy Ride.

Story - 8 out of 10
Four people meet up with each other and help each other to survive five (six if you count The Passing DLC) different places. Not much story other than that, but I'll but the general stories of the campains.
Dead Center - The characters just met, judging by the way they talk in the elevator. "What's you're name?" "I'm Ellis". The goal is to get to a mall, to see if CEDA has a evac, but they don't so you have to take this stock car.
Dark Carnival - The road gets cluttered with cars, so your team of four has to get out and walk the way. Coach mentions the carnival that he went to as a kid, so they decide that they'll try to go through it. They find out that a band called Midnight Ryders were supposed to have a concert there and eventually use the stage show as a signal flame for a helicopter.
Swamp Fever - Nick shoots the pilot since he was turning into a zombie. They make their way through a Louisiana swamp town filled with zombies and eventually find a plantation and signal a boat. This campain was my least favorite.
Hard Rain - My favorite campain. The boat that the team was on needs fuel and drops them off. The have to make their way through a sugar mill to a gas station for some fuel and make their way back.
The Parish - The boat drops them off in New Orleans and they try to find some salvation. They hear jets coming over and drop bombs. BEcause of this, they decide to find something to contact them. They find a walkie talkie at the bridge and then haul ass across the bridge to get to the chopper.

Gameplay - 9.5 out of 10
This would have gotten a solid ten if it weren't for the AI. The AI are just plain stupid. If you're trying to get through the sugar mill in Hard Rain without alerting the witches, they'll alert them.
Other then that, the gamplay is simple aim and shoot. Open dooes, fight zombie hordes, pick up other weapons, stratagize for finales.
The melee gameplay in this one was awesome. I rarely carry a pistol for the soul reason of plowing down zombies with a katana.
The chain saw was good, except was unrealistic. I think that it would last longer than that in real life.
One other thing I didn't like was the fact that you stop moving when being attacked. Seriously? I think I would keep on running.
Versus is great, but it's hard to find a good team online. I love being able to pounce on survivors as a hunter or jockey. Spitter is actually quite fun. Boomer is my least favorite only because I'm just not very good as them.
I havn't played much of realism, but I really like the concept of it.
Scavenge is probably my favorite mode. I like how it's kind of like versus, but shorter and such. I'm also a beast at it.
Graphics - 9.75 out of 10
The character models are well detailed and so is the environment. The buildings and vehicles look realistic and the zombies are believeable.
Sound - 10 out of 10
The sound is great. The music isn't annoying and the voice actors did a great job. The game makes you dread hearing the scrrech of a hunter or the burp of a boomer. The music makes everything dramatic. Their aim was to make this game movie-like and they did a very good job.
Entertainment - 9.25 out of 10
I want to play this game right now. I love blasting away zombies with grenade launcers and such!

Overall score: 9.2

Wiki Page: List of Weekly Mutations [L4D2 DLC]

On this page I will post each Mutation as they appear each week. Valve allows people to vote on their favorites so there's a good chance that Mutations will repeat.

Realism Versus: Just Versus mode with the Realism setting on. You can't see your human teammates but the Infected can see you and each other. Update: Votes for this mutation were so high that it became a permanent game mode.

Bleed Out: This setting works for any campaign chapter. You start off with 100 health but the bar looks as if you used pills to get there. There are no health packs only pills, adrenaline, and defibrillators. As you go through the levels, your health "bleeds out".

Follow the Liter: Scavenger mode with a catch. There's only one gas can to go after, forcing the survivors to go for it. Its a great opportunity for the Infected to lie in wait. Hint: Play as the Infected first and do your best to limit their cans and set the match to 1 for quick wins.

Last Gnome on Earth: Campaign/Versus Mode where you must carry the Gnome from "Dark Carnival" all the way to safety. But there's a twist: the Infected are attracted to whoever is holding the Gnome. Remember where you put him down! Update: Was voted to appear for a 2nd week.

Last Man on Earth: Single player campaign where you are the only survivor. There are no common infected, just Special Infected ready to take you down. Can you survive?

Chainsaw Massacre: Literally. Unlimited Gas. Campaign mode only. Update: Was voted to appear for a 2nd week.

Room for One: Okay this Mutation can get funny. There's only room for one survivor on the rescue vehicle, so whoever gets to it first wins! Only for Campaign Finales.

Headshot: Surprise! Only shots to the head or decaps will down the zombies. Hit them anywhere else and they'll only stagger. Campaign mode only.

Versus Survival: Versus Mode with a timer. First team sets the time, next team attempts to beat it.

Wiki Page: Left 4 Dead 2: The Passing DLC

Summary

"The Passing" is the first game add-on for Left 4 Dead 2 and it incorporates the survivors from the first L4D. However, not everyone survives…"The Passing" also introduces 3 new maps for scavenge as well as a new Mutations mode. Every week a new Mutation game mode will be introduced. The current Mutation (when the DLC was released) is: Realism Versus. Take Realism, combine Versus Mode and you have an all new challenge.

"The Passing" takes place between the events of “Dead Center” and “Dark Carnival”. The L4D2 survivors must fight their way to a generator to lower a bridge so they can continue driving. There are 10 new achievements, 4 or 5 of which you can easily get on your first playthrough. 3 achievements come from versus/scavenge gameplay.

  What’s New:

-2 new weapons: Golf club and M60(not reloadable)

-New uncommon common: Fallen Survivor. When they die they drop items.

-Foot Locker. Think a massive cooler filled with unlimited amounts of Adrenaline, Pipe Bombs, Molotov’s, or Pain Pills scattered across the story mode of “The Passing”.

-3 new multiplayer maps

-New Midnight Riders song. Find a jukebox and listen, it’s awesome.

-Some common zombies wearing Midnight Rider swag

-Infected bots in Multiplayer. Now the games won’t end if an entire team leaves.

-Weekly game modes: Mutations

  Achievements

TORCH BEARER: Survive The Passing Campaign

FORE!: Knock off the heads of 18 infected with the golf club. As soon as the level starts off just pick up the golf club and aim for the head.

CACHE GRAB: Open 5 foot lockers. May take a second playthrough.

GRAVE ROBBER: Collect 10 items dropped by a Fallen Survivor. Its kinda like keeping an eye out for when the CEDA agents dropped Boomer Bile. Will take a couple playthroughs depending on how many items they drop each.

TIL IT GOES CLICK: Using the M60, kill 25 infected without letting go of the trigger. If you find the M60, hold onto it until the underground river tour. Once you open the 2nd gate and attempt to go through the tunnel, a horde should try to stop you. Wail on them there.

KILLING 'EM SWIFTLY TO THIS SONG: Play the new Midnight Riders song on a jukebox. At the wedding, hit the glowing speaker to hear what it sounds like. When you enter a bar with a couple of pooltables, the jukebox is in the corner by the window you entered. Hit X a few times til the song plays.

KITE LIKE A MAN: Kill a Tank only with damage from the original Survivors. This occurs during the generator part at the end. Just don't shoot the tank. The L4D2 survivors shouldn't hit it, but in case they do, you can always switch the difficulty to expert, kill them, and then switch it back when the tank appears.

PORT OF SCAVENGE: Play 5 full games of Scavenge on The Port. You don't have to win. Goes quicker when the option is "Best of One".

WEDDING CRASHER: As the Charger, grab a Survivor and crash them through 8 chairs at the wedding. Probably would be best to spawn behind them during versus. Hope you have good aim.

MUTANT OVERLORD: Play 6 Mutations. This achievement will take you the longest, no matter when you purchase "The Passing". It will take you 6 weeks to complete. Man, they are everywhere. And one of the most important rules is always this: Never go Anywhere Alone!

Thank god this game embraces that philosophy to the extent.

Left 4 Dead 2 provides a phenomenal co-op experience. Playing with your friends, whether in the same room or online, is awesome. If none of your friends are available, the single-player campaign is fun all on its own, thanks to some really efficient AI. New enemy types lead to a delightful variety of ghouls to destroy.

Why the ten?

-perfect co-op experience

-responsive AI

-astounding graphics

-zombie clowns

Blog Post: Like, Zoinks, Man! Perhaps it was because COD MW 2 came out just the week before. Maybe it's because I played the original online a lot and it hadn't been that long since I took a break from it. But I have determined it's too soon.

While they did improve in every way they left one big hole in the middle....the story. Hwta little there is; isn't enough. The first Left 4 Dead was great and pulled off the half absent story well. Four suriviors randomly coming together and all they want to do is get away.

Valve missed an opportunity to evolve the formula and get into the characters or perhaps the story of the outbreak itself.

Wiki Page: Left 4 dead 2 Guardin Gnome, Gong Show, Stache Whacker Achievments

Guardin Gnome

To get the Guardin gmome achiement in left 4 dead 2, first you need 4 people of course. 2 or 3 would be fine because you have the AI's to protect you and give you med kits, but it is best to have 3 other people with you that want to get the guarin gnome achiement too. Second, you will find the gnome in the chapter 2 of Dark Carnival. He is inside a case with a heart next to a game that is lit up to the right once you walk into the carnival. You have to press the button to start. You must shoot the bad guys to gain points, but don't shoot the peanuts or you will lose points (use machine gun). Have two people playing the game (make a strategy to get most points possible) and the other two watching and protecting from zombies. Once you get enough points (tells you how many points you need) the case will open and you can grab Gnome Chompski. NOTE: Gnome Chompski is an item (like a gas can) so you can't shoot while holding him, but you can shove with him and throw him down to use weapons. Run through the levels as fast as possible (make sure you are familiar with each level in Dark Carnival). When you are on the roller coaster, in chapter 3, never drop the gnome because he may roll and fall off the coaster and you may never see him again. When you are at the end of Chapter 4, where you have to wait for the gate to open, before you push the button, put gnome chompski at the gate so when it opens and you run out you can pick him up on your way. When you are in chapter 5, when you wait for the helicopter, put the gnome where you start the lighting ti the concert because it is an easy place to remember him. When the helicopter arrives, 2 people go to the chopper while two go to the gnome to pick him up while the others protect them. Once you jump in the chopper, every person in the game (even the dead ones) will get the achievement Guardin Gnome.

If anyone needs help or doesn't understand the guardin gnome achievement my gamertag is Gyglabesh and I can help you. If you need two people my friend Gyglabesh(1)/guest is at my house often and we are a good team and may be able to help. We have gotten the achievement multiple times so were kind of experts.

Stache Whacker

To get the Stache Whacker achievement, in Dark Carnival Chapters 2, 3, or 4 (i'm am not positive which chapter) somewhere their will be a wack-a-mole type game, but with moustachio instead. You might here "prove you are faster than moustachio!" You start the game and use a gun to shoot the things that pop up. You can continue as much as you want and once you get enough points, the machine will blow up and everyone in the game will get the Gong Show achievement.

Note: I'm pretty sure both Gong Show and Stache Whacker, are in the same chapter of Dark Carnival.

Gong Show

To get the Gong Show achievement, in Dark Carnival Chapters 2, 3, or 4 (i'm not positive which chapter) you will need an adrenaline and a melee weapon. Their are melee weapons everywhere, but the adrenalines are scarce so once you find one, keep it. Somewhere their will be a game where you use a mallot to ring a bell with moustachio next to it. NOTE: You may here moustachio saying: "prove you are stronger than moustachio!" Use your adrenaline then take out your melee weapon. Hit the machine with your melee weapon and the bell will explode (be ready for the horde!). NOTE: only 1 person can get this achievement at a time. The person who did it will then get the achievement Stache Whacker.
