Laugh all you want, people. It adds years to your life, and the longer you live, the more Video Game reviews I can post. Who's laughing now?

Kirby's Epic Yarn is probably the best Casual game I've played (Traveler's Tales's Lego series still takes the cake...) It's simplicity, playability, and all-around straightforward plot line makes Kirby's Epic Yarn (I'll say KEY for abv.), by far, the best Casual game I've seen. To prove my opinion, I'll explain why I believe this idea.

First off, KEY's simplicity makes this game playable for all, with one exception (I'll mention it later). For example, say you were a 12 y.o. who just got Mom & Dad to buy KEY for you. Once that awesome feeling you get once you open the crinkly packaging passes and you insert KEY into the Wii (hopefully you notice the 2-player compatibility), you either ask Mom or Dad to play KEY with you. After progressing through Patch Castle with finesse, you decide you want to go solo, which leads to my second point.

Admit it, people. We've thought "This game cheats" once every now and again. Well, KEY doesn't feel like that. If you've ever played New Super Mario Bros. Wii, you know its simple NES-like controls. KEY is just like that. 2 to jump, 1 to yarn whip (cue Indiana Jones's orchestral score), left/right on the d-pad to move, well, left/right. Plus, if you think Kirby's feet hurt, you can double-tap the motion controls to become a car (sorry, but a Porche was too expensive.) It's pretty simple. If you ever forget, the pause menu recaps the controls.

"Alright, men. Some pervert took over Dream Land, and we're going to take it back" "Brute force, sir?" "Nah. Let's just take it slooooooow." The storyline, in a nutshell... Almost. Yin-Yarn, the Antagonist, takes over Dream Land with the help of a magic sock (Ben lost it in the dryer. I don't blame him... Dryers are pure evil!) and creepy knitting needles. Kirby encounters this dude by listening to his stomach and eating Yin-Yarn's metamato (don't ask me what it is... I don't know, either...). The rest is a long yarn... He he...

All-in-all, KEY is a great game, overall. Oh, remember the little sidenote at the beginning? The exception is my mother. She sucks at all of my games... except Mario Kart... Long story...

Have a good one,

Kirby's
Epic Yarn takes a little while to warm up to if you're older but when
you open up to the childish themes, it's easier to appreciate the
fantastic platforming. When the game starts, you immediately feel the
game overflowing with super cheerful, overly bubbly motifs indicated by
the bright colors and happy piano music. It's hard to accept at first
and you feel awkward, like Nintendo is trying to to treat you like a
baby but it doesn't take away from the solid platforming and creative
artwork that cannot be denied.

Epic
Yarn, like most platforming games, does not have an engaging plot.
Here's the breakdown: an evil magician, named Yin-Yarn, from another
world called Patch Land, invades Dream Land and captures Kirby with a
magical sock. This sock transports him to Patch Land where everything is
made of yarn--including Kirby. Our hero meets the royalty of Patch
Land, Prince Fluff, who asks Kirby to help Patch Land as it has been
ripped apart and is in need of being stitched back together again. In
order to do this, Kirby must find pieces of magical yarn that binds
Patch Land together. It's a whimsical fairy tale but it sets the stage
for the unique art and game play.

Since
the entire world is made of yarn, the art direction takes a different
turn that doesn't include well-shaded areas and fully colored
landscapes. Instead, everything looks like someone stitched together
everything and it could be unraveled in any moment. To an extent, this
is true. Parts of the background can be unzipped, enemies can be
unraveled or turned into a ball, blocks that block your path can be
unraveled and raveled up to use as a weapon, buttons are pinned into the
background that Kirby can latch onto and sometimes Kirby can drop
behind the background and walk in the back being able to see a lump
moving around behind the stitchings. When you finish a level, sometimes
the map transforms and different objects form through yarn coming
together and creating some charming and funny renderings of artistic
expressions all done in yarn. It's amazing the creativity a yarn based
world can produce.

Some
of the aforementioned details cannot be done without Kirby's ability to
use his own sort of yarn whip. Kirby can no longer copy abilities
because he is made of yarn but this yarn whip helps him be able to fight
back. Unfortunately, he cannot copy abilities with the whip but Kirby
is still effective despite his inability to wolf down the baddies. What
Kirby can do is transform. The puff turned yarn hero can jump into
transformation portals that enable him to turn into a UFO that sucks up
enemies, a rocket-propelled tank that shoots rapid-fire missiles or even
an ATV. The downside to these abilities is that they are placed in
certain parts of the level and they only last until a certain part of
the level. It never changes. This depreciates the excitement of past
Kirby games as you could finish a level with any ability as long as you
could keep it.

But
this game's excitement is reduced because the game is so easy. The
greatest element of difficulty comes from collecting beads--the in-game
currency of Epic Yarn. Collecting the beads is easy enough. You can find
them hanging all over the place, grab them by defeating enemies or earn
them by the roulette at the end of each level. Collecting more beads
means you can earn a higher medal, gold, silver or bronze, at the end of
a level and in some cases, you can open up added levels depending on
the level you're in. If you
decide to collect the beads, then game's difficulty will get tougher
but if you choose not to, the game will be as easy taking your pet
chihuahua for a walk. When you've collected enough beads, you're able to
spend them on wallpaper and furniture for your apartment. There is not
much to the apartment concept other than the fact you can decorate it.
It's a reason to collect things but there is no added reward for
creating the sweetest pad in the complex. Boss fights are very creative
but they don't get tough until the end of the game although if you're
looking for collecting the most beads, then they are actually pretty
challenging.

Inside
the apartment, you do have neighbors who will invite you to play
mini-games. One neighbor plays hide and seek and you have to find him
and his friends, hidden throughout a level, in a certain time limit.
Another game's goal is to collect as many beads as possible in the time
limit. Both are actually fun and pretty challenging but after you've
beat them once, you're only competition is yourself and there is little
reason to beat your score unless you're competing with others via
message boards.

If
you really wanted a way to give yourself a challenge, you could play the
game with two-players giving it a New Super Mario Bros. Wii feel.
Although this game does not have the friend-killing frustrations of that
game, it's still a task to work together. But since the game is so
easy, it's much simpler with two players which is a little unfortunate.

Other
options include the ability to take pictures and collect furniture
pieces and music throughout the level. The music, while very
kindergarten, fits in well with the game and there are some soothing
tunes that do not distract from the game play nor bore while you play.
It's strange how the music works but it works well. I actually never
took any pictures because you can't share them with anyone and there are
not many eye-popping moments to pause the game and take a picture.

Epic
Yarn is a childish game with mature platforming and although the game
isn't difficult, it's an enjoyable experience that actually gets better
as you play. But the best way to play this game is to embrace the
childish elements and allow yourself to soak up the great platforming
and game play.

Gameplay: I'd say you would get about 15 hours of gameplay at best. If you want to find all secrets and beat every enemy you see, you'll get an extra 2 hours or so.

Lasting Appeal: Slightly above average. It does get more boring after you complete it, like most platformers do, but once you complete it, you do have some fun beating all the bosses again. And yes, this is one of those games that you can play through a second time without dying.

Concept: I'm surprised that Nintendo was able to pull this off. I like Nintendo, it's my favorite company, but I really don't like the yarn concept. For one, you can't inhale any enemies or get special abilities, and the games concept (the yarn, thread, buttons, patches, fabric, etc.) makes it much easier to find the secrets for some reason. If this is the main reason you want to buy this game, go with New Super Mario Bros. Wii or Donkey Kong Country Returns (and I made a review of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and I'm going to make a Donkey Kong Country Returns one).

Graphics: Nothing too good quality, but the graphics in this game (and the simplicity) make it a great game for kids under 10. If you're a teenager or an adult, the graphics might not please you that much. Then again, some of Nintendo's best franchises sometimes does this.

Sound: The sound effects are almost perfect. And I said almost in that sentence. I like how when you wind up an enemy into a ball, how it makes that twirling sound effect, the impact sound effect, and the falling apart sound effect. But if you're like me, you don't like the childish sound efffects. In terms of the music, I don't really like the music. I don't think it's classic Kirby music, and if it's not, then they replaced it with something VERY childish. But if it is, I'm not a Kirby music person.

Playability/Entertainment: Again, this is designated toward a young audience (about 10 and under). But don't get me wrong, some people above that age can really enjoy this game, I'm just not one of them. I did enjoy this game in some parts, though. The playablility rating is high, because it feels like one of those games that you can pick up and play quickly and easily.

Controls: The controls are simple, but can be complicated if you really want to get into it (like DK Country Returns). I really don't have anything else to really say about the controls in this game besides that.

If you want to buy this game, first decide who you're buying this for. If you're buying this for a teenager, they probably won't enjoy this game. A good amount of adults will, and most kids will. That's all the advice I can really give you in my position. Nintendo, why did you yarn bomb Kirby?!

Kirbys redesign is cuter and better than the original

Kirby is famous for many things. Inhaling enimies, stealing there powers, and more. But In Kirbys Epic Yarn, you wont see any of it. But does it still make a great Kirby game? Absolutly. The game starts out when Kirby is walking past a bush, and sees his favorite food: a red tomato. But when he tries to inhale it, an evil lord named Yin Yarn appears and tries to grab the metamato, which was what the tomato actually was, from him. But Kirby, who likes to inhale and eat stuff, just keeps inhaling, and eats the metamato. Yin Yarn gets, angry, and transports Kirby to a faraway land, called Patch Land. He then saves a boy named Prince Fluff from a beast made out of yarn. In fact, everything is made out of yarn. He finds out that the metamato game him the ability to turn him into a car. Thats the opening scene. I cant give out anymore information because giving out more would spoil the game for you. Instead of eating enimies, Kirby uses a lasso to grab his enimies and tear them apart. This game is actually pretty easy. Unlike some games (Battletoads). Not to mention that this is Kirbys frist game on a home system since Kirbys Air Ride, but it is also worth a try even if you arent a Kirby fan. My favorite parts are the multiplayer and boss battles. My favorite boss battle is a squid that you have to throw enimies at, but that dosent make it any different from the rest of the game. Although, there a few flaws. Like the fact that this game dosent even take any skill at all. Although Kirbys Epic Yarn is easy and skillless, it is still very addicting and highly replayable. Kirbys Epic Yarn is an amazing game, even though you cant eat people. But after a few hours, you'll realize that a Kirby game where you cant eat people is actually amazing. Kirby is back and cuter than ever. Even if you arent a nintendo or kirby fan, I dont think you are biased or lighthearted even to dislike this game; I dont think anyone is.

If You Don't Like Cute Stuff, Stay Away

Pretty good. The last time we have seen him on a home console was back in 2008 when he starred in Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Now Kirby is back once again to bring his undeniable cuteness and charm to the Wii with his very own game, Kirby's Epic Yarn.

The game starts out with the pink puff ball trying to eat from a tree when Yin Yarn the Sorcerer appears and sucks Kirby in his teleporting sock, transporting Kirby to Patch Land, where everything is made out of different clothing material. Kirby meets Prince Fluff, who explains to Kirby that Yin Yarn has broken Patch Land into seven different parts. The two then go on a journey to get magic yarn to sew Patch Land back together again.

This game is played by holding the Wii Remote sideways like an NES controller. This is actually quite handy since playing the type of side scrolling 2D platformer that Kirby's Epic Yarn is without this setup would be difficult. During different parts of the game, Kirby can transform into different vehicles to advance through the level. Some of these are really fun, like tank Kirby, others are just a pain in the neck to operate, like train Kirby. Pressing the 1 button makes Kirby grab certain items and enemies. Grabbing enemies and using them as weapons are useful for getting to hidden bonuses that the player wouldn't be able to get to without them, and the two button causes Kirby to jump.

Different items in the game consist of alternate background music, and furniture, which can be used to decorate Kirby's apartment that Zeke gives you at the beginning of the game. That's right, in this game, Kirby gets his own home where you can place different items like lamps, rugs, couches, and pianos that you find throughout the game. These are neat little items that had me aching to find more whenever I would play.

Apart from the positives of the game, Kirby's Epic Yarn does have some negative points, and the biggest one of that is the game is just too easy. This game has no game over screens and no lives or life bars. Being a game aimed towards younger kids, it's understood that the lack of these features would help make it easier for kids who don't want to keep track of lives in the game. But something for the older audiences like a difficulty selection would've been a nice addition to the game for those who wanted a little challenge.

Kirby's Epic Yarn is definitely a quality Wii title and a Nintendo gem. It has fun, action, adventure, and cuteness that anyone could love. Despite the game being really easy, this isn't a drawback of the game and one should go out and pick this game up, it's well worth it. It's a fresh new experience for the Wii, which is definitely a plus for the system. Do yourself a favor and buy this game!

An amazing adventure for every one.

When I sit down to play Kirby's Epic Yarn I smile why? because this may be my favorite Kirby game ever made.

Graphics: Simply amazing creative and fun the textures really change how you look at the game. PS too cute!

Sound: Kirby sounds as cute as ever but the music are some of the most catchy songs. they sound like Shrouter and a quartet working together.

Design: Creative and fun.

controles: Perfect

difficulty: easy to beat the game but getting gold medals on every level is an other story.

replay value: high because the are so many collectables minigames house design and co-op that you might never get boried.

Kirby's Epic Yarn is an innovative visual treat

Kirby is back and in an all new style. Don't let the adorable ball of fluff (or in this case, yarn) fool you, thisgame is a definite platformer threw and thew. Your role in this game, as Kirby, is to stop an evil magician (made of yarn) from destroying Kirby's dream land. The main goal is to go out and find the magic pieces of yarn and stitch together each piece of the puzzle, patch by patch.

This is a great game for everyone young and old. Kirby being transformed into yarn is a blessing in disguise, although you do loose your capability to suck up enemies, you will not miss it one bit. You have all new abilities that enable you to transform yourself into a yarn car which comes in handy seeing as how walking normally seems rather slow paced. The classic Kirby brick is back and enables you to come smashing down on enemies as well as bricks and blocks throughout levels that keep you from gaining access to secret patches. You also gain the ability to turn into a parachute that allows you to safely float down to the ground after jumping, or for a super jump you can speed into a car and catapult yourself into a parachute.

The great part of this game are the sections that briefly transform you into something out of the ordinary. Some levels will have you turning into a fire truck putting out fire monsters who try to stop you from collecting jems, other levels will have you transforming into a spacecraft sucking up everything in your site and causing a frenzy filled electrical explosion that destroys everything around you.

The boss battles are not the most difficult battles you will ever find yourself enduring but the further you progress you will find they get more challenging, just the right amount to keep you craving more. Kirby's Epic Yarn is blast and I think anyone who keeps an open mind to change will find it is a great play with amazing visuals, smooth pacing, and an epic platformer. This game is an innovative and big step in the right direction for Nintendo and the Wii.

my post on kirby epicyarn

i give it his high cause im a fan of kirby and other nintendo charathers also cuase i love the way they desinged the game also the e3 presntation made like it more than before cause it showed a trailer that lit up the presntation its a great game for a platformers and a pice of kirby for every one
