Debut Trailer For Kinect Star Wars

For many, a Kinect Star Wars game is all they've wanted from the peripheral. LucasArts and developer Terminal Reality will show the game at E3, and here's your first glimpse.

Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive video of the game's E3 trailer, and it shows off a range of Kinect-enabled Star Wars action set in Episodes I-III, including Force attacks, lightsaber action (naturally), podracing, fighter combat, and even Rancor stomping (whatever that is). EW's report even says that some form of voice-commands is enabled. Although the game's main Jedi Destiny mode encompasses Episodes I-III, players will get to visit locations from the original trilogy such as Bespin.

Kinect Star Wars also includes co-op play, but we likely won't have details on that until the start of E3.

  • I wasn't excited for this game before this, now I'm simply dreading the game existing.

  • This doesn't look even remotely good.

  • Good Lawd!!!!! That looks craptastic!

  • "This is not the game you're looking for" Anyways, I love how in every single motion-involved game trailer there's always some over-excited second person standing awkwardly around the first guy.
  • This game has my attention. I expect to see an on stage display of someone playing it.
  • It looks like the game was playing inside a bowl of soup, so sluggish and poor graphics. I sure hope it looks better once they present it at E3..

  • I've got a bad feeling about this.
  • This look absolutely awful.  The only reason I even have a Kinect is because my wife wanted Dance Central (which she hardly plays).  I was happy when they added Netflix compatibility (even though it's a neutered version of it).  I was hoping that maybe there would be something unseen beyond the horizon that would make this investment worth it.  Sadly, I knew the moment Kinect was announced that it would be lame and yet sell like gangbusters.  And yes I know I'm and idiot for perpetuating its existence.  I just hope that Micorsoft's E3 isn't the crapfest it was last year.  I'd be happier with a Netflix update for Kinect instead of this sham of a Star Wars game.  Just deliver some great non kinect exclusives **BRAAAHHHH**!

  • It looks pretty bad to be honest...

  • hmmmmm i want to try it

  • What the?

  • This looks like Wii graphics....

  • Horrible....So glad I didn't buy a Kinect...

  • Is that really it..... Looks like it needs a lot more work to me.

  • Best thing this game will give us is funny videos of people kicking or tripping into there tv or just knocking there tv down
  • u know where i come from we have a word for things like this game the word is GARBAGE

  • Just as I figured, it's mostly an on rails crap game. Graphically, that looks terrible, regardless of whether they're trying to tap into the Clone Wars style of animation or not. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess input lag is going to suck as well.

Honestly, that trailer just looked like: Hey, let's throw in a whole bunch of Star Wars stuff from all over the place and show it off to get interest. Let's throw together some scenes with a lightsaber, force push, pod racing and an x-wing sequence!

When people said they wanted a lightsaber game, I don't think an on-rails, flailing about in predetermined fashioned swings was what they meant. And Pod Racing, again?

Jedi Knight: Kinect, this most certainly will not be. LucasArts really has lost a lot of it's mojo over the last generation and I'm not entirely sure why. About the only successful Star Wars franchise this gen has been Force Unleashed.

  • There is no way this game will control anywhere near well enough to merit playing it.  Kinect is just not suited for this kind of deep gameplay experience.  The hardware just does not have a practical way of moving an avatar forward in a 3D space, not to mention important things such as turning around, or even turning to the side, beyond tilting one's body slightly in one direction.  This will play like a clunky mess, and don't even try to say those podracing and dogfighting segments will be anything but unwieldy.

  • hmmm...

  • I would rather attempt to make a lightsaber out of poop, than play this game
