Free To Play Mech Shooter Launches On Steam With New Trailer

This multiplayer mech shooter has been in the works for a long time. The game originally went into open beta in December of 2012, but this month the frantic shooter comes to Steam early access, which should help broaden its player base.

Hawken is a great looking shooter, and has been a showcase for the Oculus Rift for some time. Celebrate the title's move to Steam with this official Steam trailer.

  • I'm confused... I thought this was F2P. Can someone pleases explain to me why the only option in the Steam store is to pay 30 bucks for it?
  • Now this is a fantastic game that definitely needs to make it's way to the PS4!!!!!!!!
  • I wouldn't pay for that, to be honest.
  • This whole $29.99 is a total joke. I have been playing this on and off for quite a while and I didn't have to pay a penny. Now it's a Steam Early access game.... and you have to buy a package. that has got to be the silliest thing I have seen in a long while.
  • I think Sony should get some exclusive deal with them to bring this to the PS4 so that they can have their FPS mech game too. Who needs Titanfall when you got Hawken right?
  • A game with mechs that doesn't say Titianfall isn't going to get a lot of comments from the bro's Ben.

  • Pretty shady to release on Steam with a $30 pay wall for a free2play game. The developers are using the excuse that the pay wall prevents players from overloading the servers when the truth is they are exploiting their Steam release. That's your real story Ben!
  • Remember that this is what some Free-To-Play games on Early Access do. "The Might Quest For Epic Loot" is one of these types of games, but will go FTP in the future. This game, though.. I would pay 15 dollars max, however I'm really enjoying it. I have played Hawken prior, therefore I didn't have to pay.

  • lol i cant believe some random developer would put out a 2nd rate titanfall knockoff out for 30 bucks. theyre just out looking for a quick buck.. sigh and people wonder why the industry is in such a sorry state
  • Still waiting for the Oculus Rift support?
