Incredible campagn and the best mulitiplayer on the market. I also enjoy Fire Fight but it did not keep me intrested long. My only multiplayer complaint is trieng to play certian types of games is difficult like hedhunter and some campagn levels last to long but this has great co-op and music. I love the sense of scale too. Ill miss Bungie but halo 4 looks great too now

Blog Post: Bungie's Last Stand

All Halo fans that have not yet bought this killer game, get away from your computer and go buy it! Halo Reach is without a doubt one of the best games I have ever played. The Campaign is killer, Firefight is ADDICTING, and Forge has never been better. I'm not gonna say a ton, bit every thing about this game is amazing. Now, your'e probably wondering why I didn't give this a flat out 10? Here's why: At times in the campaign, I felt like a few of the objectives were chores, and I didn't enjoy riding the blasted Warthog across every aspect of Reach. Every else about the campaign was great. That's part of why it wasn't a perfect 10. Since I am really not that good at Halo, I felt, at some times, that the Campaign was a smidgen too difficult. Now, I am a Halo noob, so don't trust what I just said. I hope my review was helpful, and now that you've read it, go play it!!

Wiki Page: How to get the best rank - ups in Halo Reach

Hint 1: Check Out the Daily, Weekly Challenges

Think of the daily and weekly challenges as free cR. Most of them are simple (ex. kill a set amount of enemies in the campaign with automatic weapons) and can be accomplished from normal play in relatively short periods of time. You can find them under “Challenges” (shocker!) in the pause menu. Completing them might not seem to award that much cR (one day’s combined daily challenges totaled 3,800 cR while another was 2,100 cR), but multiply that by seven, add in the 1,500 from the weekly challenge, and you’re looking at a nice consistent chunk of change. The coveted Master Chief voice will be yours in no time. Also, get some friends and go for LASO challenges when they become available, they give between 10,000- 20,000cR.

Hint 2: Upgrade Your Commendations

Commendations are hidden under “Service Record” after selecting “Player” in the pause menu. Campaign, matchmaking and Firefight each have their own unique commendations, each containing five different levels. Break into the bronze rank and you get 600 cR; silver rank gets you double that, and so on. Upgrading a commendation is as simple as reading the description and then performing that action. Just know that you must play the appropriate game mode to level up a commendation; killing grunts in Firefight won’t add to your campaign tally, and vice versa.

Many commendations will take a while to complete (the “Pinpoint” commendation in the campaign for example requires 4,000 head shot kills to go gold), and some are downright frustrating (finishing levels on Heroic or Legendary difficulty without dying). But all yield cR. Your best bet is to aim at whatever commendations are within reach based on your natural play style, and avoid spending too much time chasing nearly-impossible goals, when you could be racking up easy cR elsewhere.

Hint 3: Tag Along

Whether you’re new to the game or a seasoned vet, sticking with teammates is a solid strategy, but it’s also a great way to earn cR. In Halo: Reach, you get bonuses for assisting on a kill (some challenges are based on assists, too) and for avenging a teammate’s death. Besides, you’re more likely to get kills in the first place when your buddy has already done some of the work. If you can join up with some friends and communicate, even better.

Hint 4: SWAT or Not

SWAT is a decent choice for a quick cR fix due to the focused nature of the game type, so vote for it when possible. It’s essentially Slayer (or Team Slayer), but everyone loads out with a DMR, a magnum, their chosen armor ability, and no shields. Kills are quick (one head shot is all it takes), which means you don’t have to worry about playing the entire length of a match. And if you’re a dead-eye, so much the better; you’ll rack up a string of kills with ease and end the match that much faster. Just remember: the faster you shoot the DMR, the less accurate it is. If you miss that first head shot, don’t fire again right away. Wait that extra second for the reticle to shrink to its default size before engaging your opponent again. It’s easy to forget that in the heat of battle, but it could save your life and end the other guy’s.

Hint 5: Show Off in the Campaign

You’re a Spartan; play like one. Small amounts of cR are awarded during missions for kills, and those handfuls add up. Increase the amount gained through stylish play and toppling tougher enemies. For example, destroying an enemy and the vehicle they’re riding in yields more cR than just killing the enemy. Turn on Score Mode (even if you’re playing alone) to get a feel for the timing required for double kills and other medals. And if you’re playing with other people, don’t always feel like you need to kill everything that moves. That’s just a sure-fire way of dying a lot and pissing off your teammates. Assists count towards a Support Role commendation, so let your partner finish off that Elite whose shield you destroyed.

Hint 6: Get Some Multi-Kills in Multi-Team

Multi-team is lesser known (and played), but it’s great for earning cR. Pitting six teams of two against each other in slayer and random objective-based matches, this game type is noteworthy because you aren’t sharing your kills with three – or, in the case of Big Team Battle, seven – other players. It’s just you, a single partner, and 10 moving targets. Thanks to the frantic pace (five other teams will be jumping around shooting each other), it’s easy to steal kills. That’s playing smart, though the other teams will have another word for it they’ll be sure to share in the post-game carnage report. Multi-team matches tend to end quickly, too, meaning you’ll have more chances at the “lottery” credits earned at the end of every game.

Hint 7: ONI Sword Base Trick

Use the Target Locator : By using it on enemies instead of the two Wraiths, you can rack up insane multi-kills. The only downfall is that eventually the cR amount drops dramatically, which means you can’t abuse it indefinitely. On the plus side, this is also an easy way to level up the “Splash Damage” and “Cannon Fodder” commendations.

Hint 8: Fight the Gruntpocalypse

“Gruntpocalypse” is a rendition of Firefight that pits you against an army of grunts. Killing grunts is great fun (especially with the Grunt birthday party skull activated),and as this video illustrates, an easy (and quick) way to earn cR. Depending on your skill and speed, it will take around eight minutes to earn roughly 2,000 cR. And, again, you’ll randomly pick up bonuses here due to upgrading commendations tied into the Firefight mode. It’s good for everybody – except those poor grunt bastards.

Wiki Page: How To Get Kills in Halo

If you dont know a frag gernade takes out you're sheild so the best way to get kills is to throw a gernade at the ground in front of them enles you have a plasma then throw it at the're face! the best place to be is with tight hallways so if you miss then it can still bounce and hit him/her. then also the DMR even if the enemy is realy close if you spam the DMR it will do less damege .
-Yep this is the last goodbye to Halo from Bungie

I came into Halo Reach fresh off of starting out with the Xbox 360 recently and experiencing the past titles in the franchise, which were all good in their own merit. The first halo game started out with a great story and introduced an innovative new way of doing FPS on consoles. The atmosphere and feel of the game made it an amazing experience for gamers to love. While the other games were good, they each felt like multiplayer was the main focus instead of the story, which felt rushed in some parts of the game(especially Halo 2).

Me just getting into PC gaming and falling in love with Half Life series and the great Valve and PC gems available, I was skeptical of how good halo reach would be. I instead was very pleased at the game that I got.

Halo Reach is one of the best Halo and FPS game I've played. The story of the game feels more focused and refined in comparison to the past Halo games. Apart of what I loved was the atmosphere in the game and the huge feel of what was going to happen. We all know Reach falls, but the way the game's story and campeign is crafted delivers a great shooter experience.

I was dissapointed however by the lack of depth in some of the characters and how it started with you meeting the stereotypical team. You've got your menacing silent guy who sits in the corner stroking his huge shotgun, that makes you not want to sleep. You got a big giant guy who's really just sensitive and nice but still will beat the living be-jesus out of you if you insult him, i.e a hairless Wookie. The strong leader that just wants to keep his team together even though you just know hes going to die in the most noble way possible. Wait. I just realized something. Noble team. I get it. Its because they are basically in a competition to die in the most noble way possible before the game ends.

-Noble Team

The new armor abilities system adds a new level of depth to both the story and multiplayer game play. I was interested in the spaceship levels and how good they were. But I was dissapointed in how it wasn't used again or incorporated into multiplayer. The new game modes, refined firefight system, and credit system are a great addition to the game and its growing multiplayer system. These new additions were nice, especially the armory and the huge amount of armor and content to buy with ranking up from matches. I've all ways loved the halo multiplayer. I like how it focuses on teamwork as opposed to kill streaks and k/d stats. It's one of the best multiplayer games I've played, next to Tf2 and Counter Strike.

-The multiplayer system has been refined to new depth for the series.

The game's campeign and story might not be as good as other games like Half Life 2, in terms of complexity, characters, game play, and atmosphere, but Halo Reach is still a great game for the Halo Franchise and improves the series in new better ways. It was a great last gift to us from Bungie, before they left the series. Hopefully 343 will take the next Halo games will continue to follow the pattern of delivering great new stories and experiences for gamers to enjoy.

-Hopefully Halo 4 can bring the series to a new level of depth.

Wiki Page: Achievements

Achievements

Complete the following achievements to unlock Xbox Live Gamerscore points.

The Soldier We Need You To Be (25 points): Completed the Campaign on Normal difficulty.

Folks Need Heroes... In this short guide I will teach you the basics to learn how to snipe like a pro.

1. Turn the sensitivity up higher. When you notice an enemy you want to be able to snap to his head as quickly as possible.

2. When moving, keep the reticule at head level, so that if a player suddenly appears right in front of you, you can kill him quickly.

3. When in doubt jump about! If you have just been shot at and you haven't spotted the enemy, it is moderately effective to jump consistently to make it harder for your enemy to get a direct shot to your head or body.

4. Don't stay in the same place for too long! If you do, players you recently killed can easily gain the advantage by catching you by surprise since they know where you are.

5. Don't shoot when you are uncertain, Only take a shot when you are confident it will hit the player.

6. Be unpredictable. Being unpredictable makes it harder for enemies to anticipate your next move.

7. Reload when you get the chance! You do not want to be in a battle when you have low ammo, so when you can reload.

Follow these tips and you will learn to be an excellent sniper. It'll take a while though, so practice hard!

- Lolfox1019

Wiki Page: Want to Level Up Quick

In the Start Menu, click on Challenges.

Read the Daily Challenges and try to complete them. They give you a lot of Credits, which is what you need to level up.

Also do the Weekly Challenges. They give you a huge boost of Credits. Weekly Challenges have a whole week to be completed in.

Play Multiplayer games like Team Slayer, Team Swat, Team Objectives, etc., because they give you a lot of Credits

During any game, try to get a lot of Headshot kills and Melee Kills. First off, campaign story is long and entertaining with an heroic and unforgettable end to it. Graphics are slick with amazing environments surrounding the game area. Multiplayer has many options to keep players happy with the rules, weapons, and gameplay ideas. This is different from many first-person shooters I have played because of its unique concept and story. Playing with family and friends in this game is very entertaining and competitive also to have a big laugh with. I have enjoyed my time playing with a very controversial game like Halo: Reach.

Blog Post: Halo Reach: A True Fan's Review

Halo: Reach is a prequel to the first Halo title Halo: Combat Evolved, the game that drew the attention of millions of gamers to the original Xbox console. In total, of seven Halo games have been seen on Xbox systems. The original trilogy, two Bungie-developed spin-offs(Including Reach), a remake of the Combat Evolved, and even an RTS game developed by Ensemble Studios. Reach is the last game in the franchise developed by Bungie, and even though it was hyped to be the ultimate Halo game, it didn't really live up to those expectations.

Gameplay: At its core, it's still Halo. The weapons feel powerful as ever and the Covenant is still a fun enemy to engage in combat with. But some unwelcome additions like Armor Abilities didn't exactly change up gameplay for the better. Abilities like Sprint and the Jetpack can be very enjoyable and suit Halo quite well, while others such as Active Camo and Armor Lock tend to be frustrating. Standing in front of your opponent in anticipation of killing him as soon as he exits Armor Lock isn't very fun.

Story: In Reach you assume the role of Noble Six, a Spartan III assigned to Noble Team. Throughout the story, you fight alongside your fellow members of Noble Team known as Carter, Kat, Emile, Jorge, and Jun. Each level in Reach has its own unique feel to it and sandbox-style gameplay which you can find in past Halo games is is still present. A common problem with games in the Halo franchise is backtracking., and for the first time in the franchise it's almost gone. You will find yourself essentially replaying a part of a past mission, but this can be easily overlooked. Reach has a satisfying story, and a pretty special nod to the original game at the end of the story.

Sound: For me, sound is half of the experience, especially in Halo's case. This series' soundtracks easily tops any game or movie's in my honest opinion. The soundtrack is truly epic, and it's easily one of the best things Reach has to offer. Weapons, Vehicles, and Equipment sound similar to their past iterations, but have been improved. Each weapon sounds like it really packs a punch, and they're very satisfying to shoot due to this.

Graphics: Reach has an excellent engine. Textures, landscapes, animations, and lighting look significantly improved compared Halo 3, and best of all it always keeps the smooth 30 FPS gameplay each game in the franchise has delivered while looking very pretty simultaneously. All character, weapon, and vehicle models have been redesigned for this game and generally look excellent.

Multiplayer: This series' multiplayer has always been outstanding. I'm an avid fan of Halo multiplayer who has put forth hundreds of hours played between Halo 2 and 3 alone. But Reach's online experience lacks one thing which is crucial to Halo multiplayer: Competition. I'll keep it simple: Reach tries to appeal to more casual gamers with the introduction of Armor Abilities and a very Call of Duty-esque rank system. This is an instant turn-off to true fans of the series and damages the online experience for people like myself. Other things like the mediocre maps that shipped with the game is unfortunate and really is a step down from past games. On the bright side, new modes such as the excellent Invasion mode and a drastically improved Forge mode appear in Reach. Custom Games remain a blast to play, so grab a few friends to play with and you're in for a great time. Halo's co-op mode, Firefight, returns in Reach. It remains similar to ODST's version, but comes with a load of customization options this time and a healthy amount of new modes.

Overall: If you're a huge fan of Halo, prepare for a very satisfying Campaign experience, plenty of co-op fun, and a blast with your friends in the game's Forge and Custom Game modes. But if you're expecting a very competitive experience that you'd expect from past Halo games, stick to Halo 3.

Blog Post: Bungie goes out with a bang with Halo: Reach

When I'd played Halo 3 ODST, I thought it was great, and couldn't wait until my friend got Halo Reach. Great way to end a critically acclaimed series.

Graphics are pretty good. Probably the best of the series. Story all right. Gameplay is pretty good. About 4-6 hours. I loved every minute of it, and couldn't wait for Halo 2. I then worked my way to Halo 3, and Halo 3: ODST. I'm kind of glad I didn't give Halo Wars a second look. I always enjoyed the multiplayer on all of them, and while ODST's campaign was dissapointing, the game didn't collect dust due to the multiplayer. I was excited seeing Halo 3 introducing Forge, as I liked creating things like Forts and such.

Halo: Reach's multiplayer definetly delivered, and like ODST, it didn't collect dust thanks to Firefight. I was engulfed in waves of Covenant, and was loving every minute of it. I'm always using a jetpack, and I often use it to pull my butt out of the fire. The Forge mode was great, and I'm still adding on to my Fort which I saved under the name of "Rodney", since I was listening to a Rodney Dangerfield tape when I first started working on it. Forge alone provided me with hours of entertainment.

Now to the campaign. The scenery on Reach is beautiful amazing, and the controls are as smooth as ever. But the campaign is what got me. I only played a few levels into it, and I'm not feeling the vibe of the original Halo trilogy. The thrills, the drama, the narrative, none of it. The music was as crisp as ever, but I seemed to think that Halo was turning into the normal "shoot 'em up" that I see today with Modern Warfare. The seemingly pointless missions turned me off immeidiantly. Like ODST again, I am not feeling the original Halo feeling.

I know you're thinking "How can he compare ODST to Reach?" I know, I know. ODST was a lot worse than Reach, but similar: the campaigns were not great, and I played it mostly for multiplayer.

I'm sad to see Bungie not developing the next Halo, but I'm also excited to see how 343 Industries will take an innovative franchise like Halo, and turn innovate it even further. I just hope I can pick up the Halo vibe in Halo 4's campaign, and not be dissapointed.

Forum Post: Re: Trouble With Map Packs

all you need to do hopefully is to re download them on your xbox using recent downloads on account activity.

Blog Post: CATFISHGOD SAYS YES

The campaign mode on reach is awesome, but sad. Online has great modes like griffball, and great co-op user-generated golf.
