After this morning’s announcement, 343 Industries has posted some additional information about Halo 5: Guardians on Halo Waypoint. Franchise development director Frank O’Connor is teasing more, and says that “another shoe has yet to drop.”

To hold us over for the next three weeks until E3, O’Connor has shared a new piece of concept art in desktop wallpaper size. He also praises the community for understanding the development cycle of the Halo franchise.

“The Halo 5: Guardians announce out of the way is a big weight off our shoulders,” he writes. “This audience has correctly stated and assumed that you can’t necessarily squish a full Halo game into anything less than a three year development schedule – and at least up to and including Halo 5: Guardians, that’s more or less true.”

Halo 5 will be built on a brand new engine, and O’Connor says it’s necessary for new architecture, new graphics, and “some new ways to think about gaming.” Of note, he reiterates the commitment to a Halo that runs at 60 frames per second with dedicated servers.
