New Grand Theft Auto V Character Trailers

Grand Theft Auto V is upping the ante with not one, but three protagonists in its upcoming open-world adventure. The latest trailers for the game delve a little deeper into each of them.

In a heist, everybody's got a role to play, and you'll experience them all as you jump between each character and play them throughout the game. Each is a different piece of the puzzle with their own background and motivations.

GTA V comes out for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17. For more on the game's characters, check out our Who's Who story.

  • And we're back to the whole stereotype of black people and rap and gangbanging. I was really hoping R* wasnt going this route again. I might just wait this one out =/
  • The Sopranos, The Wire, and Breaking Bad

  • Dafuq am I supposed to to until september.

  • I dig Franklin's trailer

  • At first I was like...great just another GTA game. Then I watched all three trailers and I was like hey maybe not just another GTA game.

Just wish I would have bought the Ultimate Edition of GTA IV (4) when it was 50 percent off for PS+ members. It was a fantastic deal, and I've been kicking myself ever since I passed it up.

  • Enjoyed all the character trailers!

  • The game looks like it will be another great Rockstar product, but I'm still not excited about the prospect of 3 different stories. I would honestly prefer to play as the same person throughout the game, rather than switching.

  • CanNOT wait, the music..rockstar has done it again..Trevor is going to be awesome to play

  • anyone know the names to the songs in trevor and michael's trailers? i hate the type of music in franklin's so i don't care.
  • Everything looks great, but Trevor's story looks amazing!  It's going to be a dog fight between Bioshock Infinite and GTA V for Game of the Year, methinks.

  • Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

  • gonna b good

  • I was skeptical of the three character combo at first, BUT now my skepticism towards R*'s bold move is completely null and void!

Rockstar have melded every protagonist GTA personality into one jaw-dropping package!

I personally felt GTA:IV was a MASTERPIECE, but others felt weird playing the remorseful Nicko Bellic one moment, and a psychopathic rager Nicko the next, which is very understandable.

Others missed the gang affiliated C.J. from San Andreas, and others wanted the crazed, drug running lunacy of Tommy Vercetti from Vice city.

R* made a great decision by bringing out the best inspiration from each past game. GTA:V is going to be huge, can't wait until the collector's edition is announced!

It also looks like they have IMPROVED the already amazing R* patented "Euphoria" engine! That engine has literally haunted every game that uses rag-doll since!
  • rockstar makes some of the best and bloody games

  • Franklin. Grove Street. Green and purple gang wars everywhere. I need this game now!
And the music in these trailers is awesome. Especially Michael's trailer.
  • here's hoping you can pull heists in multiplayer with your gang, and do more stuff in free roam mode.
  • GREAT trailers for all three. But Michael's is my favorite. Destruction and chaos set to a Queen soundtrack is always a plus in my book! I laughed way loud watching Mike beat the ground with his golf club. That was just the PERFECT camera angle. But still, which is the better ending line? "I think you need a new therapist" or "You want me to get my Dick out again?!"
  • I wonder how they will regulate progression?

If you play as one character for too long will their missions halt until you catch up the other guys?

I am 99.9% sure they will do something similar since the heists will be the major plot points, and not having character missions done before that would probably screw up the heists.

  • I'm definitely going to play as Michael. Family problems, ambitions, and the search for wealth. Lol my future will be miserable rich.

  • It's crazy to take a look back and see how far the GTA franchise grew and expanded. From the top-down "read only" game story lines to the silent protaganist in 3 going from mission to mission... to now this. 3 characters all in one game, the story looks just amazingly complex and all around fun to play and do anything and everything. Can't wait
