The lights are on
With Gears of War 3, Epic Games has revisited its popular Horde Mode. Rather than simply provide more of the same, the studio has added elements of tower defense and strategy to the mix. It's a cool change of pace, and we had a lot of fun with it at E3. If you weren't able to check it out there, a new trailer hosted by Anya Stroud's familiar voice walks greenhorns through the mode.
In the mode, players earn currency that they can spend on fortifying their defenses. These defenses range from simple barriers to slow down attackers to automated sentries, mountable turrets, and the enormous Silverback mech suit. Check out the video below to see these and more in action, and to get a look at how these defenses can be further upgraded.

Looks to be the best Gears yet hope it turns out good.
I'm not much of a fan when it comes to Gear's multiplayer but this alone seems worth playing.
Holy crap! That looks friggin awesome!!!
I can't believe how well GOW3 is coming along. It's truly blowing my mind away.
Gears 3 is looking even better and better, GOTY contender? From what I've played from the beta, even if it was little compared to the full game, yes it will stand on the top.
I can get behind this. Horde from Gears 2 was an important entry into the FPS timeline, but it's a little more than dated. 2.0 looks solid.
Love me some horde mode. The new additions look awesome.
Horde mode was the one thing I liked about the previous game. I don't see this being GOTY since it has Portal 2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Uncharted 3 to worry about. However, it still looks like it's gonna be pretty fun.
