The lights are on
The Game of Thrones video game is more than just a TV show cash-in. The developers at Cyanide Studio began work on the game, "when the TV series was only a rumor."
In this behind the scenes video, the developers at Cyanide Studios talk about how they worked closely with George R.R. Martin, and began discussions with the author to adapt the book series into a game seven years ago.
Game of Thrones the video game will be available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC next week on May 15.

This looks great and I do hope it is good. Period piece RPG are always so much better in games rather than in film/tv. Can you imagine Skyrim the movie/series? Not a bad concept but I would never love it as much as the game.
Part of me wants to be exited for this game, but the other parts are making me wait for the review before I get too pumped up.
wonderful
It looks kind of good, but I'm going to wait for some reviews and see wat they say.
Yeah, I'm really interested in all of this..I'm looking forward to the game. I want to read books. I'll watch the tv show last. but all still looks really awesome. I'll be at the midnight launch of it for sure.
I'm kind of interested in how this will turn out (though I have a feeling (read: hope very much) it's more adventure game than RPG), however the fact that it began development before the series is actually discouraging. A Song of Ice and Fire is by far my favourite book series, and Game of Thrones has been holding up incredibly well, so knowing that a company bought these rights before the show exploded means it likely won't see the production values it deserves.
I'm also skeptical because I don't think this Genre of game (RPG) should be made for GoT. What is an RPG without some level of player agency? An adventure game. But to give players some form of agency you'd need to allow choices, choices which could easily undermine the actual ASoIaF story.
I do think games should be made of it, but I think they really ought to be strategy games that announce their disconnect with the books. Maybe the next ASoIaF Strategy game will be good — maybe they'll license it to the Total War people.
I love the books and show. Hopefully they can make the series into a great game too.
Yeah if you look in the pre-order art book you get at GameStop a lot of early concept art is very stylized and neat but then in it they say once the show came around they were forced to adopt all the likenesses and storyline changes of the TV show, which sounds pretty s***y to be honest.
Heard the books and Tv show are good. Hopefully a demo comes out for this. Probably will get this either way.
Fingers crossed for this game
I'm definitely interested, but I'm with some of the other commentors. I think I'll wait for the reviews and real gameplay videos to come out before I check it out myself.
i am reading the books right now!! i really hope the game is good
Not sure I like the gameplay or look of this. It does not look like they spent 7 years on it at all. I do want some of the things in the collectors edition, but i'll wait until its cheaper.
Amazing show so I hope they don't ruin it with a lame video game
Thats interesting, but I'm not sure what it means for the game. On one hand it does not rely on the show and become another licensed game. On the other, the show is awsome, so emulating it might be a good thing.
the show is perfect so I hope this game does a good job living up to the name!
This game looks pretty good, but it's coming out tomorrow and I can't find any reviews for it? Not a good sign....
Please give us a review!
