Players are invited to return to the realm of heart-stealing dragons and oddly implemented fast-travel on April 23 in Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, an expansion pack to the core game that is releasing both as a retail disc and digital download for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for $39.99.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen includes all of the content from the original Dragon's Dogma game, and also moves beyond Gransys' mainland to Bitterblack Isle. This new world features an underground realm home to over 25 new enemy types. Existing Dragon's Dogma characters and saves can be exported to this new game and upgraded to use new Level 3 skills. Capcom says it listened to player feedback to improve fast travel and make menu navigation more intuitive. These improvements are retrofitted to the original game.

If you own Dragon's Dogma and purchase Dark Arisen, you will receive 100,000 Rift Crystals, unlimited Ferrystones, and six new Gransys Armor costumes.

Capcom offered a brief summary of other new features appearing in Dark Arisen.

All new high level weapons and armor sets
14 new character/Pawn augments
New tiers of equipment enhancement
Increased character customization options
Item appraisal
Option to select Japanese voice over

Looks real good. I've been meaning to pick up a copy of Dragons Dogma for some time now. Game-play like Skyrim mixed with Dragon Age I hear? Definitely makes me want to go get it right now.

I'll pick this up. Dragon's Dogma was one of the few things Capcom did right in 2012 and, despite it's flaws, was still my favorite game of last year.

I hope we can see some new classes for the pawns at least - I would love them to be able to use the hybrid classes that our main character uses. Or maybe some new ones to mix it up a bit?

I just got Dragons dogma a week ago, and the only thing I didn't like was the no fast travel. So glad they're changing that

So, my waiting has paid off. Good... now just one last thing: RELEASE IT FOR PC ALREADY! I understand Capcom, you were very nice about it with Resident Evil 6/Revelations and with DmC. But that begs the question -- why not Dragon's Dogma? It seems like it was made for the hardcore PC gamer. It's like a less crushingly brutal version of Dark Souls, with a more defined class system.

I'd prefer this as a lower cost add-on instead of paying the full re-release price. As is I'll wait to see the reception; in the meantime I have most of the game to finish. ;) For those on the fence, DD is well worth it.
