The lights are on
As Arkane puts it, Dishonored could very well be the first game starring an assassin who doesn't have to assassinate anyone. Take a look at how the game rewards all play styles in this new developer diary.
The team discusses how they work to anticipate what players will want to do, and make sure their simulation can handle it. For instance, a prominent ledge should be something players can climb. That doesn't mean everything's been planned. The clip gives plenty of examples of how players have surprised the team in tests by doing crazy (and effective) things with weapons and psychic powers.
Also check out the game's previous developer diary detailing the world and its characters.

Definitely my most anticipated game.
Can't wait for this game. With all the people involved working on this game it should be very unique and exciting. Hopefully it puts Arkane on the map even more so.
Wow only a month away! I really hope this game is good.
I hope they nail the achievements/trophies too. With all the freedom you're given they should be insanely creative and fun to get.
Great great video. I'm so excited to play this!!
Looks absolutely stunning. An assassin game with a character with powers beyond the realm of super human talents. Teleportation, time control are your standard super powers but the creators take a step further. They give you the ability to possess another human being or even a fish! The gameplay looks pretty well pulled together and from the cut scenes in the preview, it seems the story line should be very written, no cheesy dialogue from what I can tell. Haven't played it yet so no rating but I have high expectations.
Dishonored is Revolutionary!
I am very excited for this game - I love Splinter Cell, Assassins Creed and pretty much being stealthy but also I love just sometimes outright killing everyone. The fact that this game allows you to choose either or, it is just fantastic.
This game seems intense.
Soon... soon we will play the precious!
Regardless of issues people have had with Bethesda, I'm more than excited for this game. Mind you, I'm not taking chances; I'm TOO excited not to buy this on the 360.
All I know is that this game is going to have SERIOUS replay value. In a world where anything is possible, it is probable to assume the player will want to do everything.
(That's when a smart development team starts cranking out DLC missions and new powers)
