Dragon-Slaying Action Set In A 2094 New York

Capcom revealed more information about its upcoming game Deep Down, the title it showed during Sony's first PlayStation 4 event. The trailer showed a surprising setting, as well as a few additional glimpses of some unsettling enemies.

Deep Down features randomly generated dungeons and loot, and is being developed as a PS4 exclusive by  Capcom Online Games. We still don't know if the characters are battling it out in the streets of the future, or if it's Assassin's Creed-style window dressing for a world within a world. Capcom is saying that the game will be playable at TGS later this month.

  • I just got done watching this along with The Evil Within(Psycho Break in JP)and they both looked awesome. I was kind of worried about Deep Down when I hadn't heard anything on it, but the gameplay they showed looked like a mix of Demon's/Dark Souls and RE4. I hope this game is as good as it's looking so far, so I can get back to loving Cap and the stuff they release. Either way, this game looks very promising so far.
  • I'm loving that music! Certainly looking forward to reading more on this game.
  • So the XBO gets DR3 as an exclusive and the PS4 gets this? Im more excited about what I have seen of this so far.
  • The only moment I was impressed by this game was the on first teaser, because I thought it was Dark Souls 2.

  • Pretty gorgeous, but I'm worried that it'll be an MMO with the usual combat and gameplay mechanics that genre entails. It would be a step back from Dragon's Dogma.
  • I don't exactly know what to think of this. It reminds me of Dark Souls with what I've seen so far.
  • This game is going to be great. I loved Demon's/Dark Souls, and I LOVED Dragon's Dogma. It'll be interesting to see what Capcom does with what looks like a nice blend of the two properties.

  • The original trailer for this looked way better. What is it with the Japanese and weird soundtracks? That music was completely wrong for the trailer. And the article above said it's set in 2094 new York. Where in the hell did they see that? No where in the trailer did I see anything to even implicate new York. I don't know about capcom anymore. I still have hope for this, but if that soundtrack is gonna be playing through the entire game, then I'll be making a playthrough on mute. Seriously!, that music is straight outa every jrpg ever created. If its a mature game, then give us a mature soundtrack.
  • Randomly generated levels and loot along with Dark Souls/Dragon's Dogma style gameplay sounds fantastic! I can't wait to get my hands on this game.
  • This looks pretty cool. It looks like they are going for an Assassin's Creed animus type story. Also, does anyone else find the mixing in this to be awful? Maybe it's because I listened to it through my speakers, but it seems the music is way too loud.
  • Please don't be as dumb as AC...

  • It was called Dark Down at one point? I don't think that makes very much sense.
  • It has elements of Michael Crichton's novel, Timeline.

Although this one sounds as if it may be memory based like Assassin's Creed.

It is definitely on my buy list.
  • Looks and sounds cool but I'll hold off opinions until I hear how it plays when people get a chance at TGS.

  • This is pretty much Capcom's answer to Dark Souls, it looks like.

  • Looks kind of interesting. The armor and enemy design gave me a bit of a Dark Souls vibe, though that's not really indicative of gameplay.
  • looks so bad
  • The miserable people, the armor, the slow deliberate walking animation.....yep. Not even gonna say it, I wish they had stuck to the Dragons Dogma style. I really do.

  • I loved the music and this looks intriguing to me.

  • I dig the music, but had no idea what was going on in the trailer. Looks like Dark Souls style gameplay, which doesn't interest me much, but with an Assassin's Creed Animus type memory twist to the formula. I need to see more before I can get excited about this game.
