The lights are on
I've never been a fan of medical sims, so I wasn't really looking forward to playing Deception IV, a title in which your sole gameplay mechanic is administering intravenous therapy to patients at a large hospital. But I quickly discovered that Blood Ties is more than the sum of its parts.
Like the lauded "Papers, Please" Deception IV gives the player a seemingly tedious task and uses it as a means of delivering compelling narratives. Find the vein, stick the needle, find another patient, rinse and repeat. But along the way, you'll learn valuable lessons about faith, love, and letting go.
Deception IV is more than a nursing sim. It's a glimpse into the human condition.
