Before you go and start trash talking these games for lack of this or not innovated enough. You have to take in account  Data East's true source of income:  sugared up kids at arcades, not console systems.  Bad dudes does follow the same rehashed  plot of every other fighting game at the time.  Plots were not needed in arcades  between playing, talking to friends, and checking out girls, who had time for a plot. this was designed to supply a way to kill time and trash your buddy's high score before your older brother came to pick you up.

These games will never translate well onto modern consoles for this reason. Today games have endless lives and save points. These games had a motto: one quarter, one life.  Buy it for nostalgic reasons  and just try once to see how far you can go without having to the continue button.
