Crysis 2 review

Picking up this game from my local gamestop I was actually excited with all the exclusives and what not right on the cover, but after a couple of hours of getting into the meat of the game I was left with  feeling like I was missing out a little bit from the first game, but lets not get into that just yet. The controls are mapped with quite alot of thought onto the controllers. Switching between the nano suits powers are actually helpful with the terrain and suit a variety of different styles. I saw myself switching from the silent sniper cloaking after taking my shots and slinking away into the darkness or throwing the armor on and mowing down everything in sight. The story telling isn't Modern Warfare 2, but more like Black Ops in that there are alot of cool explosions and a protatgonist that doesn't know what exactly is going on.

The weapon selection is one that is limited, but have a nice feel to them. You'll eventually find yourself favoring one gun over the whole array of them, but that's normal. I ended up using the Scarab with a silencer and a red dot sight for a majority of the game. The guns have a nice feel to them, but sometime I thought they felt a little under powered. The AI taht was put into this game is quite an amazing feat in my opinion. If you play any of the other blockbuster shooters and ramp up the difficulty it seems like every enemy is a world class precision shot with the weapons, but in Crysis they aren't just great shots. They are also smart as all hell. That is until you get to the small corridor sections that are used frequently to usher you between "levels." In said corridors though the AI  becomes denser than pudding made from cement. I'm not sure how many times I could walk up to an enemy and assasinate them right next to their partner and he not even notice it. Then pick up the other partner and throw him across the map. Overall though the AI is spot on an gives quite a challenge if thats what you're looking for.

Now we get to the part that i'm a little bias on. The Multiplayer. I mainly stick to team deathmatches and for the most part it is fun. The advancement feels good and working up to a new weapon is always a sweet thing once you achieve what you set out to do, but the limited weapons and their attachements don't fully live up to other shooters multiplayer features out there at the moment. You can't customize your killstreaks which meant I would rack up the kills till i was out of ammo and usually run towards my enemies to restart my kill streak over again. Crysis 2 does do quite alot right though. Most of the maps keep the action tight without feeling claustrophobic, but also have maps that cater to one type of play more than others and force players out of comfort zones which is always a good thing. With the powers of the nano suit the multiplayer gets quite ridiculous. One tip players should learn early is to turn off their stealth power right before they shoot so they have a little bit of energy left to use their shields just in case they get spotted and are on the recieving end of some gun barrels.

All in all I had a fun time with Crysis 2, but found myself moving on quite easily. Hope you found this informative and if you have any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to comment. Thank you
