The lights are on
Yesterday, Double Fine announced
that its Kickstarter-funded adventure game Broken Age would be
available for backers to play starting today. The rest of us will have
to wait until later this month to purchase the game.
The first half of Tim Schafer's colorful new adventure game will release on January 28 for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Preorders are already open on Steam.
“It's been sixteen years since I've made an adventure game, almost twenty years since I've made a point-and-click, and just shy of two years since I dared the internet to force me to make one,” said Double Fine president and Broken Age writer/designer Tim Schafer. “Coming back to the genre has been like finding an old jacket in a box in your garage that you haven't worn in twenty years, but once you shake the dust off and put it on you realize it's an amazing jacket and it still fits, and once you patch the holes in the pockets it could easily take a spot in your main jacket rotation.”
“Oh, and also, in one of the pockets was three and a half million dollars,” Schafer added.

Act 1: elijah wood thanks you for all the backer's money
Looking forward to playing this. The wait is almost over!
I'm actually quite interested in this.
Adventure games like this always seem like the kind of thing that I really want to play until I actually start playing them. They always have stupid and/or contrived solutions to puzzles that really piss me off.
Man I'm so excited for this game, the story looks interesting as well as the animations!
Don't really play PC games, but I'm really looking forward to playing this.
I love the art direction and atmosphere of this game. The pre-purchase is really tempting. Unfortunately, I'm on somewhat of a tight budget. Anyhow, I hope this is a great success for Double Fine.
Oh... It feels so good to see that Broken Age art is finally animated. :)
Oh how I would buy this in a heartbeat if it was somehow(FINGERS CROSSED!) ported over to consoles. Love the art style, voice work, & premise for this. I'm sure Schafer will deliver another creative success.
