The lights are on
So, I've seen all the glowing reviews for this game, and decided to give it a try even though I'm not a huge fan of FPS's. I was initially drawn in by the style of the game- its comic-bookish graphics are nothing short of amazing, and never get old. It really is amazing that enemies can be wandering about nearly across the map, and you can still make them out with a good sniper rifle.
I really enjoyed all aspects of this game. It's zany, with TONS of pop-culture references that will have you laughing your bee-hind off as you play (if you're American- I'm not sure how some of the stuff would go over in, say, Japan...). The levelling system is simple but engaging, and will have you planning your character's development from early on. The looting is a lot of fun as well- you never know what you're gonna find, and every once in awhile you find a gun that is SO amazing that you never want to stop using it, even when you have a far superior one in your arsenal.
I'd honestly recommend this game to anyone, but especially to people who don't play a lot of FPS's and are interested in the genre. There's enough here for a WIDE audience, and I can honestly say that it was one of the most enjoyable games that I've played this year.
