Bad Company 2 is definitely awesome. first off the UI has changed drastically, it has a more modern look that makes it easy to access all the features the game has to offer. it definitely looks more clean cut and modern.

the campaign is actually quite good; it brings back all the old characters and throws them on another crazy mission. while the game still has its trademark humor, its definitely a little toned down showing the games transition to a more serious tone. the controls are comfortable and familiar and are easy to use. the only missing thing was the use of the hypodermic needle to bring your health back. personally this wasn't a problem and it was actually welcomed as it showed a more realistic game but to some it will be missed. the levels are beautiful and were well made; in addition, the upgraded destruction 2.0 engine really made the game good. the ending of the game really made it open ended and with the news of a Battlefield: Bad Company 3, its no surprise why that would be.

the multiplayer is great and has the great new UI upgrades. the controls are the same so nothing too new here. the maps are huge and detailed, the destruction engine really shines here. when playing rush you can help to destroy an objective by blowing out the walls of the building that contains it and collapsing it. watching the buildings fall is quite beautiful and is spectacular to watch so i would encourage you to do that if your not being shot at.

overall it is definitely upgraded from the original Bad Company and shows the transition towards an interface more like Battlefield 3. i would highly recommend this game.

Bad Company 2 puts out an astounding piece of work. It raises the bar of first person shooters and crafts the finest online multiplayer game to date.

Presentation: Graphically beautiful there is no other way to put it. The amount of detail makes its presence felt immediately from the rich landscapes and all-to-real looking characters. As you venture through different areas of the world the atmosphere plays a huge part in game play. Sand is swept across the massive never-ending desert and the snow being pushed from high winds hinders your vision significantly. Characters behave with authentic animations and create a true feel of war.

Sound: Bullets whip past your head as you hear the wind swoosh and the bullet crack the nearby ground. Battlefield has an impressive amount of detail to sound quality. Voice work is perfected even if in the different languages. Cries of pain and orders being barked echo across the map and you can even tell how close a firefight is because you can tell when bullets are distant or near.

Game Play: It would have been hard to make combat feel any more real thanks to the smooth gameplay. Bullets do considerable amounts of damage and health regeneration takes time, as it should. This game is not one to dive in head first because that will result in immediate failure. Snapping down sights is quick and even pulling out your knife takes time. Shooting with each gun feels different and you can feel the power of each because they differ significantly. The combat is tight and everything is well balanced creating an authentic and smooth experience.

Campaign: A solid campaign that is both fun and funny. The same characters from the original return and it is up to a squad of four men to save the world. Believable... no but nonetheless it makes out for a very fun experience. The game takes you across the world and throws you through several different environments. The campaign also has very cinematic cut scenes and some pretty funny dialogue (thank you Haggard). The objectives vary from holding a position to blowing stuff up to driving through enemy territory. Everything about the campaign is enjoyable with a decent amount of replay ability and even more if you like to find all collectible guns.

Online: Now we get to multiplayer and this is where the game thrives in more ways than you can think. DICE worked very hard on this and you can tell immediately. There are four classes and each customizable with endless amounts of options. There are several game modes and a dozen maps. You can decide to join a squad or fight solo, however I don't know why you wouldn't join one. The maps are huge and do not favor any one class. The game play differs depending on what class you play as. For example if you were a medic you would stay back to revive, or if you were an assault you would move in and drop ammo boxes for all players. Team work is essential to complete objectives and this makes out for a fun and unique experience. This is not a game for going in solo, besides communicating with your squad is half the fun.

Vietnam: One of the maps to purchase for the game takes you back to Vietnam. Varied locations look like Vietnam and make out for a true experience. American soldiers wear uniforms with rolled up sleeves and look like they have been through it all. Friendly tanks blast classic tunes from the era and guns are inscribed with sayings. There are several weapons that can be used, however no scopes can be added. Tanks spit out fire and vehicles are tuned to look like they are from the era. As maps load a voice over briefs the mission as if it was going on television and even the look of the game seems... older. Vietnam is possibly the years best add-on and makes out for one great firefight.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 challenges all other shooters for the top prize. A gorgeous presentation and all-too-real sound effects make out for an unbelievable game. Online play is incredibly strong and detailed and sits on top of the throne. It is hard to think of another game contending with this one and almost scary to think of Battlefield 3. Overall I give this game an almost perfect 9.75/10.

Wiki: Battlefield Bad Company 2 Guides

Guides for Battlefield Bad Company 2

Blog Post: Good Game...

This is a very fun game because there is so much action, one thing i did not like where tanks... i suck so much at driving them! It was just great. Improved in everyway possible, DICE gives an amazing shooter that's an excellent multiplayer, and afun campaign.

Graphics are really good. This is one of the best looking FPS shooters. Campaign pretty good. Probably not a outstanding story, but it's dueable. Gameplay is pretty easy. Multiplayer is a blast. It is one of the best multiplayers ever.

Overall, it's great. If your iffy about it, don't worry, get it. I really can't wait until the sequel. I would give Battlefield: Bad Company 2 a

9.5 out of 10

Blog Post: Kyle's rating

Storyline: much better than the average FPS, although that isn't saying much

Graphics: Variating, as the character models and locations look good, but guns look horrible

Voice Acting: Okay, but could be better

Sounds: Great! While Bad Company 1's single-player levels were in the form of large sandbox landscapes. I also noticed how much more serious the tone was. I enjoyed Bad Company 1 a lot because of its humorous tone for a military shooter, but Bad Company 2 does the complete opposite. One of the biggest dissapointments of the campaign was how drastically Haggard's personality had changed, I was actually thinking to myself "What happened to Haggard?!" Another failure was how much more difficult the game is, even on "Easy" difficulty you can die with a few hits. However, the biggest dissapointment I encountered in the campaign was the fact that the four original characters act as if the events of the first game didn't even happen and the story starts of like this also.

Multiplayer: First of, this is one of the best multiplayer games I have ever played. The points system has improved greatly over the first Bad Company. The environments are more varied this time; with artic, jungle, and desert terrain.

Other negative things about this game is the fact that when you're getting shot at your weapon tends to move to the bottom of the screen, which is seriously annoying. Also the new knifing animation sucks. It sometimes gets glitchy; when your knifing someone the animation plays out as if you actually knifed the person while in reality you missed.

In conclusion, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is great online shooter, but with a horrible and dissapointing single-player campaign.

Blog Post: Meh?

It would have been a lot higher, but the controls are horrifically horrific. Unlike CoD firing an RPG at a tree should have blow it away? No its still there just a scorch mark.

BF Bad Company 2 is open combat grounds which expose you and make you think about standing out in the open(which will get you killed)

Call of Duty has closed in combat zones, short campaign, some content, and is really a espionage/breach and take down game.

Blog Post: The closest thing to FPS perfection to date...

Huge maps, awesome vehicles, realistic weapons and gadgets, great squad-based play, stunning visuals, and sharp sounds are what makes Battlefield: Bad Company 2 superior to all others. DICE really knows what they are doing, and they have me on the edge of my seat throughout gameplay once again.

After playing this game, you will forever again ignore the Call of Duty.

You can't see that guy in the window? Blow out the wall of the building! You know what, just take the whole building down. 99% of the buildings in Bad Co. 2 are fully destructible. And there are plenty of vehicles to cause mass destruction with. Heavy and light armored tanks, armored assault vehicles with heavy machine guns or grenade launchers on top, ATV's, boats with guns mounted on them, UAV's, Apache helicopters...

Bad Co. 2 also has the most visually stunning, fully accessible, and expansive maps I have ever seen on console. Dense jungles, snow-covered hills, arid deserts, grassy plains...they're all there. Every detail is accounted for; bird calls, running water, crunching leaves, swishy (?) grass, bullet casings hitting the ground, trees swaying in the wind...; and that's what makes DICE the leader. I actually depend on these sound effects when I play as a sniper. You can hear which direction the shot came from as it hits the dirt near you, then watch for the second muzzle flash. Or as your honed in on a target a mile and a half away, waiting for the shot, but hear a leaf crunch behind you as someone tries to sneak up and knife you. Those kind of details are what warm my heart when I think of playing this game's multiplayer function.

They also revamped the classes from the first Bad Company, switching things around in a more balanced and useful way, adding useful things, but also keeping the things we hold so dear: the repair tool, smg's, and rpg's for the engineer; the medic with his light mg's, health packs and new defibrilator; mortar strikes, motion sensors, and of course, sniper rifles are for recon; and the assault class now throws out much-needed ammo crates. Along with all sorts of extra unlockable gadgets and perks, some available multi-class and some class-specific.

Overall, it is the best online multiplayer I have ever witnessed and been a part of. And the campaign was good too, although I didn't spend much time on it. I can't wait for Battlefield 3!

Blog Post: Battlefield Bad Company 2 Review-Erin Fusco

Consider me won over. I checked this title out as way to help wait out until a COD BLOPS price drop and was more than pleased at what I found. The game engine by itself is ahead of the competition, the Frostbite 1.5 is a revolution and it satisfying to obliterate enemy cover and harrowing to be on the receiving end of such an occurrence.

The arsenal does not disappoint either, I have fired too many M-4's and Kalishnikovs in games and the guns for the most part in Bad Company 2 are not only new in the FPS sphere but are actually in use by spec ops forces in China and Russia. No gun feels superfluous or derivative, and they all fulfill necessary combat roles. Not to mention that they all have a satisfying pop and feel.

The introduction of the game is incredibly intriguing but you soon enough find yourself following a familiar routine. Expect the typical globe trotting bombastic story from Bad Company 2, but you'll find yourself in much better company (pun intended) along the way. Cut scenes leave me pumped and chuckling and remain static for long enough and hear the funniest banter since Dragon Age: Origins. I sat for easily 10 minutes and didn't hear any repeated dialogue and was left in stitches. The single player campaign had enough variety of typical roller coaster FPS moments and on rails sections to keep you on your toes and is short enough that it does not get stale mid campaign. I was able play through levels multiple times to find hidden weapons and blow up enemy intel stations.

Blog Post: Bad Company 2: a moderate experience

Now with all do respect, I do have to say I was disappointed by this game. After playing the amazing bad company 1, and previous battlefields, this game really didn't quite match up.

i'll start with the campaign.

Now, the first thing I noticed right off the bat was how much more "serious" the tone was. Now I know its a military shooter, but it looked way to tense, and not what I expected from a battlefield game. I was however, awe struck by the graphics. They were amazing, even in comparison to crysis 2.

But what kicked me in the gut was, as opposed to the first BC, that the game was very linear, point a to point b. There were times where you had some freedom, but it wasn't to often.

The voice acting seemed to have become less stunning. Even Haggard's words of geniusness seemed absent, which is one of the things I loved from the first bad company.

The action in BC2's campaign, however, was very tense and fun. However sometimes the AI will seem to become instantly braindead. There weren't too many glitches I can recall. There were times where I got stuck on objects when in vehicles every now and then, but nothing to serious.

The controls handled perfectly, as well vehicle controls and improved helicopter controls to add in even more fun.

Multiplayer: This, is what truly killed me. I have never rage quit on any game quite as hard as I did with BC2.

Some of the ideas, such as destruction, seemed to have ruined the experience. Crate pounding has become far too easy, so rush was no fun, atleast for defenders. Either someone will try to bring the building down over the crate using tanks or mortars, or someone will C4 spam the hell out of it using the assault classes ammo spawning.

Many people lone wolfed, or even went as far as killing a team-heli pilot in order to steal it, like wise with the UAV stations.

While some features also improved the gameplay, such as medics having defibrillators. Another improvement from the first game was reducing clip size as well making other vehicles essential to get other team mates to where they need to be (blackhawks :3)

But these were often shunned out by often large amounts of lag, and other issues.

Vietnam: vietnam was surprisingly good, and seemed more traditional to battlefield gameplay. It took some getting use to, being new weapons and all, but it turned out ok. Lag wasnt a huge issue, nor was crate pounding.

The environment looked fantastic, and other effects were great. Everything seemed at balance, and it was actually quite enjoyable.

I rest my case at 7.75. The game was a bummer, having a some what good campaign, but an entirely broken feeling multiplayer. But vietnam was the star of the show, and was really great fun with friends.

Blog Post: Love is a Battlefield

FPS veterans have doubtlessly noticed when Battlefield Bad Company 2 launched about a year ago. The developing studio, Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment (aka DICE) has been launching Battlefield titles even since the original Battlefield 1942, in 2002. Since then, they have launched various Battlefield titles, the first Bad Company among them. After playing through the campaign and going online with the multiplayer, I can safely say that Battlefield is a success.

I'll start with campaign. After a prologue level set in '44, players return to modern times and assume the role of a soldier from Bravo Company, Preston Marlowe, from the original Bad Company. People familiar with the humorous Three Kings storyline from BC1 will find something very different here. The story takes on a more urgent shape when a simple counterintelligence op sends the squad around the world to locate a secret WMD that the Japanese built during WWII. The story itself is rather shallow, with most twists being somewhat predictable, but the dialogue is much better than the story. The same brand of humor from the original BC is also here, with many memorable lines, particularly one that makes fun of MW2's third level "Cliffhanger".

Sarge: "We should clear this with General Braidwood."

Sweetwater: "No, no, he'll just send just special ops douchebags, with p*ssy-ass heartbeat monitors on their guns instead of us."

Players manage their weapons via a supply crate that appears once or twice in each level. New weapons that players pick up are added to your weapon stash automatically, so if players fell in love with that T88 sniper rifle from the fourth level they'll be able to access it anytime you're at a supply crate. Hidden objectives are there in the form of M-COM stations which the player must plant a charge on and destroy. Besides gamerscore/trophies however, there is no particular reward for blowing these.

While most of the campaign is great, AI squadmates are dimwitted to the nth degree. Oftentimes they will stay behind cover during a firefight instead of moving up to where players are, as if they wanted Marlowe to kill the Russian army all by himself. They are also of questionable use even when they are engaged in a firefight, blindfiring at enemy forces. However, always, always appreciate their invincibility - the campaign would be rendered unplayable if I had to babysit them every step of the way. Well, at least they can hold the line...

CAMPAIGN SCORE: 7.25 OUT OF 10

As great as the singleplayer is, the multiplayer is where the game really shines. With a fair number of maps and the franchise's signature Conquest and Rush modes, along with persistant kit unlocks, the online aspect is by far the more superior. Players have four kits - Assault, Engineer, Medic, and Recon - all of which have their own XP progression. Leveling up each of these kits award players with new specs and guns. Each class specializes in their own playstyle. Assault class has ammo resupply packs and an underbarreled attachment (GL, shotgun, or smoke grenades), Engineer class has a vehicle repair tool for increasing the life span of all vehicles from ATVs to tanks to helos while also having a RPG for use to bring down other vehicles. Medics have a health resupply pack and a defibrillator (which revives downed foes), which is a huge help for assisting squadmates under fire, as well as being able to lay down some fire himself with a machine gun. The Recon kit comes with a sniper rifle and is best at spotting enemy forces. With binoculars (also used for designating targets for mortars), a motion sensor "grenade" and a spotting mechanic that conveys spotted enemy positions in real time this class is made for back-line support.

The Battlefield franchise specializes in creating maps which allow players to attack via land, air, or sea, and this installment is not different. Players, in addition to flying helicopters and driving tanks, can attack the enemy base from the side by inserting players via a patrol boat. Controls across all vehicles are responsive and simple (just remember to invert the y-axis for helicopters - it's inverted by default so inverting it un-inverts it - confusing, isn't it?) so players will easily be able to fly in laps around enemy bases while squadmates rain lead onto their targets with the helo's miniguns.

Squad mechanics are also improved. Teams are divided into squads of up to four players, and each squadmate can spawn on one another, which means that teams can constantly hammer enemy bases without having to run back to your team. Players also get points for doing just about anything with your squad - reviving a squad member, repairing a squadmate's vehicle, resupplying him with ammo, getting an assist off a squadmate, rescuing your squadmate when he's under fire - they get points for doing all of those, but if they do it with a squadmate the point bonuses are larger.

Unfortunately, the matchmaking mechanic is not very friendly to groups of 5+ looking to play a match. Large groups will also struggle to be on the same team, which is never a good thing. Balance is also occasionally an issue with overpowered guns and specs, like the AN-94 or the Magnum Ammo spec. The control layout also doesn't specify how to open a parachute, which I learned involves mashing the A button until it opens (on Xbox 360). Players also can't customize their preferred loadout from the main menu, so they have to change it in-game. It only takes about thirty seconds, but in those thirty seconds players could be arming a charge on an enemy M-COM station (the objective the attackers must destroy in Rush mode, my favourite mode) or driving a tank to push enemy forces out of objective Bravo on Conquest mode (think Domination Deathmatch, killing the enemy and taking the flags both give your team points). These are minor gripes, however.

MULTIPLAYER SCORE: 9.75 OUT OF 10

Ultimately, BFBC2 is a great triumph over Call of Duty. Naturally, the sales won't reflect that, but BFBC2 brings a level of strategy, teamwork, and vehicular combat that has never been realized in any Call of Duty. If you plan to get the game, don't miss out on the DLC packs - Onslaught is good value for your dollar and Vietnam is a great multiplayer expansion.

FINAL SCORE: 9.75 OUT OF 10 (not an average - My score wouldn't be higher if the singleplayer wasn't there at all)

Blog Post: You'll have a hard time finding a more action packed game than this!

Battlefield Bad Company 2 is probably one of the best games I have ever played it's full of action, strategy, and few laughs. The graphics are so life like you feel like you aren't playing a game at all. When you do missions sometimes you have to do more than shot at an enemy with an assasult rifle. Another great feature is in the multiplayer online feature you can join a squad with three other players to help each other out. I really enjoy this game and if you are thinking about getting this game im sure you will have a blast and if you have any questions about this game just ask and i'll try to answer it as best as I can.

Blog Post: Number 1 First Person Shooter

If you're tired of the everyday shooter take a breath of fresh air with Battlefield Bad Company 2. If you still play Call of Duty daily, stop, and try out the future of first person shooters. Battlefield Bad Company 2's destructible environments, vehicle gameplay, and huge maps up the anti for all first person shooters.

In the campaign, you play as Marlowe, one of four specialists in his 'bad company' squadron. He is pitted against the Russian terrorist, Arkady Kirilenko, who has plans to destroy the United States with a destructive weapon that hasn't been used since World War II. Along the way, the squad gets stabbed in the back, witnesses the most powerful weapon in the world, and meets the only pacifist helicopter pilot in the military. The game balances vehicle warfare and infantry warfare quite well, and has a healthy amount of humor that doesn't seem forced like the games predecessor. Although the game's story can seem a bit dry at times which is the only con I found in this game.

On the game's box, it announces: "Defining Online Warfare", a quote I can not agree more with. The multiplayer warfare is my all-time favorite. In the game, there are four unique classes. The assault class has a variety of assault rifles with an attachment of your choice, a grenade launcher, underbarrel shotgun, or a smoke grenade launcher. You probably read grenade launcher and remembered the overpowered "noob tubes" which define the Call of Duty series. The grenade launcher in this game, isn't capable of the power it has in Call of Duty, and moreover is used to destroy walls rather than kill people. Also, dropshotting, quickscoping, and annoying 10-year-old kids do not make an appearance in this game. Anyways, the engineer class has sub machine guns, with rocket launchers and anti tank mines to destroy heavily armored vehicles. The medic class uses light machine guns and has a tool for reviving fallen allies. And of course, the recon class uses snipers and can also call in mortar strikes or place c4 charges. Unlike other popular shooters, this game requires teamwork to reach any objective. This is the reason Battlefield does not come with a "free for all" mode. To be a dominant squad, there must be a balance between all four classes.

The Battlefield franchise has always been promising, and Battlefield Bad Company 2 is no let down. If you're tired of the stale and unfair gameplay that is Call of Duty, please give Bad Company 2 a try.

Blog Post: Purely Awesome

I loved Battlefield: Bad Company. It was unlike anything I ever played. Huge, sprawling maps, loads of vehicles, characters with personality, and great gameplay. The sequel returns with all of this-and more.

The campaign of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 starts with you as a WWII commando on a confidential mission to recover a secret Japanese weapon and one of the scientists behind it. Back in the present with the crew of Bad Company(Marlowe, Haggard, Sweetwater, and Sarge) you embark on a globetrotting adventure to stop the Russians from using that weapon. The ride along never has a dull moment, filled with action, great gameplay, and lots of laughs.

Gameplay in Bad Company 2 is astounding. Revisions have been made to gameplay that enhance it greatly. The graphis are brilliant, much better than many competitors. Multiplayer is awesome. If there's a better online FPS, I haven't seen it. Class customization is improved from the first game, with literally thousands of possibilities. Gameplay takes everything from the first game and makes it more epic. I could write about how much I love this game all day.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is my favorite fps to date. Call of Duty is like E.T. compared to BC2. This game is a must have for every console owner, and a must play for everyone on the Earth.

Blog Post: Destruction is in every direction

When I got my hands on this game i just loved in every aspect set with the awesome Frostbite graphic engine everything looks gorgeous, great light effect ,good detailed places . The cool interesting story in the game has some humorous good laughing parts combined with the action , the Bravo gang gives you a great feeling and is not a bad company after all . The multiplayer is heck of a fun and original experience , there is a lot to do in the modes and you get along the gameplay scheme during the play time sections, vehicles such as tanks gives a hard time but you find a way to blow it. The destruction is massive and you never feel secure in any building, its very realistic in that way . If you are just tired of direct competitive Fps and you just want a war zone this is the pick .

Blog Post: Realistic Shooter

I have been a fan of the Battlefield series ever since Battlefield 2 came out for the PC. Battlefield Bad Company 2 is the second Battlefield to have a story, which is actually pretty good for a game that is multiplayer focused. The multiplayer is what really shines on Bad Company 2.

Bad Company 2 starts off a little while after the events of Bad Company 1. The squad is sent in to find a man that could help stop the development of a powerful bomb. The story is a typical story, but the gameplay is what is fun about the game. The controls take a little getting used to if the player is used to the Call of Duty series, but I prefer BC2's controls. The movement of the character is more fluid and fast compared to most shooters on the console. When the player shoots an enemy it does not take much to kill, usually two or three bullets at the most. This does not make the game easier however because the character you play does not take as much damage as on most shooters. One feature that stands out on BC2 is the destructible environments. On BC2 if you are taking cover behind a wall to not expect it to protect you for long. The bullets will rip the wall apart. Also rockets and grenades will blow up the wall instantly kill any player behind it. This feature is helpful against campers on multiplayer.

Multiplayer is some of the best I have seen. The weapons feel powerful and have a bit of weight to them. When a player sees another player the player that shoots first usually wins the battle. The player does not have to worry about shooter another player and that player turning around an kill you because of getting shot by a shotgun. I prefer playing the multiplayer on the hardcore mode. On this mode you no longer have the ammo counter, radar, and crooshairs on screen. Plus on hardcore it only takes a couple bullets to take the enemy down. The multiplayer is also intensified by the fact that the game handles 24 players and has vehicles like tanks and helicopters on large maps.

I recommend this game to any one who like more hardcore type of shooters and a more realistic feel to the controls and gameplay.

Blog Post: Must Have

Battlefield Bad Company 2 is an explosive shooter putting you into modern war with more than enough weapons, vehicles and destruction than you can handle. Packed with the Frostbite engine Battlefield gives you an experience like no other with large scale combat to give that war feel, amazing sound design that lets you hear where your enemies are coming from, and enough explosive to bring an entire buildings down. Its a game you will play over and over just for the "Battlefield Experience" that you only get with this game, each match is like a story only you will remember.
