Launch Trailer Sets The Stage For Action

In just a few days, DICE and Electronic Arts will be releasing Battlefield 3. A new launch trailer highlights some of the set piece moments that players can expect during their time with the shooter, including a speeding shootout through Times Square, carrier takeoff, and more.

Whether your allegiances fall toward Battlefield or Call of Duty, it's hard to deny just how great these scenes look. In a few short days, we'll all be able to determine whether the gameplay backs up these impressive visuals.

  • First :P
  • Well dang. Here's hoping it plays as awesome as all of the trailers look!
  • Missing nuke mentioned earlier + Times Square? I see where this one's going.
  • Mmmmmm... I can't wait.  This game looks AMAZING.  Hopefully it feels the same way.

  • Arghh. The last few days are always hard to wait. Wish I could just go into a coma till the 24th at 11:50pm.
  • wow this game looks great, cant wait till tuesday.

  • LAUNCH! *flies away*
  • mind = blown. i so cant wait for this game! early this summer it was between MW3 and BF3, but after looking at everything and playing the BF beta, Battlefield won my money hands down. and if this trailer is any indication of actual gameplay footage, its going to be money well spent and money well earned by DICE.
  • Yes please.

  • Mod
Been a long wait, but still hard to believe it's almost here!
  • omgomgomg

  • I wonder if the final product looks like the trailers…. How is the CoD community will feel when Cod MW3 comes out???
  • This probably won't be a day one buy for me... I've had too much FPS recently

  • CRAP
  • Just pure awesomeness! This one is already pre-ordered at 2-5-2011 :D
  • Photorealism, spectacular gameplay, and outstanding art direction. Finally.
  • That scene, jumping out the back of a transport plane? That makes me excited for this all over again.

My only fear is that the cinematic scope feels similar to what CoD has already done - the car chase through Times Square looks a little like the "jeep chasing down an airplane" scene from one of the CoD games. And the nuke thing seems to be the standard go-to plot, although that's true of almost anything these days.

I hope they manage to keep the action movie feel and pacing, without falling into cliches and tropes. The earthquake in Iran angle is at least refreshingly original.

  • The trailer seems more like a movie trailer--not necessarily graphically (a little), but more thematically.  I loved it though.  Here's hoping the game is as good as the trailer.

  • its kinda hard to believe that we are even placeing mw3 on the same plain for this game, since 1942 this game contiunes a legacy of great gameplay and desgin, where cod since mw contiunes a legacy of mediocrity. i know the cod that was worth playing died with mw.
