An Update To The Second Baldur's Gate Game Is Coming Next Month

Its fate was in jeopardy for some time, but Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition now has a firm release date. The update to the classic RPG will be coming to PC and Mac with all of its expansions on November 15, 2013.

Beamdog, Overhaul Games, and Atari are bringing the game to market. In addition to the core game, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition will include the following content:

  • Shadows of Amn
  • Throne of Bhaal
  • The Black Pits 2: Gladiators of Thay
  • and four new allies

The title will cost $24.95. Tablet releases on iOS and Android will be coming later.

  • On tablet and ios too!

  • Still no word on release date for the first one on Android...
  • Been waiting for this to come out for awhile. I just got done playing the first one about a month ago for the first time. Really great game. I hear this one is even better, so I can't wait!
  • I'll be really excited for this once it hits iOS tablets.... However, releasing it on the same day of the PS4 launch doesn't seem like the best idea. If I was a PC/Mac gamer also, my money would most likely be tied up in the releasing next-gen consoles first.
  • oh hell yes!!! Too bad PS4 is out the same day.

  • "Minsc will be free! These bonds will not hold my wrath! Butts will be liberally kicked in good measure!"
  • Being an rpg nerd, I've been told on more than one occasion that this, champions of norath, and icewind dale are must plays for me. So i'm pretty excited to give this a go.
  • Ok. This looks ALOT different than the first. I have never actually seen this game run before. The first one I had control of "ONE" hero with the ability of having someone play co-op and choosing a different hero. Both of us had full control in attacking, blocking, ect ect ect, but this looks to me more of the game play seen in a RTS than anything else. WTF is going on here?!? Maybe the console versions are different? (FYI - Played BG1 on gamecube, Norath 1 & 2 on PS2)
  • Now this, I am excited about.

  • Now this is what I've been waiting for.

  • Go for the eyes, Boo! GO FOR THE EYES!

  • I've heard great things about this game. Probably won't get it for a long time, though. This next gen thing is going to kill me.

  • For the love of god increase the font size this time around.

  • this needs to come to consoles...

  • Planescape Torment next plzz!!! I seriously wanan replay this game, the story and dialogues are just too damn GOOD!
  • Oh, I've never regretted not having an Internet connection any more than I do right now...

  • Nom nom noms

  • I know this is a pointless complaint but i wish they had the budget to incorporate the newer D&D rules.  I remember 13 years ago playing this and screaming at my moniter because the damn "God Mode" wizards would wipe out my whole team within 20 seconds.  I still hear my dad screaming at me to "watch it with the F-bombs".... *sigh* memories

  • This is kinda' meh at this point (for me).  The blackout that Beamdog experienced and the ensuing lack of the "game-fixing update" that they kept talking about put this game on the shelf for just long enough to stop caring about.  I've finished it many, many times in the past and to have it on my iPad was fun but honestly, if the controls are as broken for BGII as they were for BGI, I'm really not interested in the experience *or* the higher price point (before IAP of course...).
