Watch 11 Minutes Of Gameplay In This Guided Gamescom Demo

A new Gamescom 2014 demo features 11 minutes of Assassin’s Creed Unity gameplay, narrated by creative director Alex Amancio. You can watch the whole demo below, which follows protagonist Arno on one of his first missions as an Assassin.

The demo-walkthrough is pulled from an early “black box mission” in Unity’s single player campaign, in which Arno is tasked with killing a Templar named Sivert near the Notre Dame Cathedral. Arno is noticeably inexperienced with asssassinations at this point in the game. He turns to a mentor figure for advice, only to be told he’ll have to make his own way.

As the mission unfolds, Amancio explains that the black box missions, in which all main assassinations take place, are designed to encourage the player to make their own decisions regarding how to approach and dispatch their target. Just as a defiant Arno later tells his fellow assassin, “I’ll do it my way,” Amancio hopes this new mission configuration will give Unity players the opportunity to play the game the way they want.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is releasing for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 28. • I'm gonna have to watch this again and again until it comes out.. Great looking gameplay.. it makes Rogue look like complete garbage.
  • What was with that guy at 3:48? Anyways, I am pretty sure the graphics are a lot better than this. Gameplay looks great though, I do like how you aren't forced anymore. I remember in 3 how some of the optional objectives where impossible because of bugs. Edit: The graphics are A LOT better when I watch this on Youtube. (It's only the 7 minute video and it takes a different approach) It must be the conversion or something. I have it on HD.
  • This looks like it might be the best assassins creed to date.
  • It took them so many games to fix it but I'm glad they're finally changing things in Assassins Creed to make the game more "Assassin-y".

It hasn't really been like that since the first two games and I'm glad that it's better late than never for these changes.

  • It looks alright, besides graphics minor improvements in all areas.

I'm mostly interested in the story of this one, the last 2 games I didn't find very engaging at all, I only played half of Black Flag because nothing made me want to come back, to be blunt.

  • Story looks super boring
  • Man that was cool! Notre Dams looked so realistic, and that assassination was art in motion!!!! Can't wait to get this game!

  • Anybody else find it weird that all the French have British accents?
  • This game looks totally ***
  • Ho Arno that was awesome! The game looks great and I can't wait for campaign missions like that; stealthy and focused on a target.

  • Quasimodo parkour.

  • It looks really promising, but I can't help but notice how unpolished it is. I hope that the teams behind this game can go to work and put 100% effort into cleaning it up before it releases.
  • My god, I cannot decide whether I want this or Sunset Overdrive at launch. Everything I see from both of them makes me want them even more.

  • Cant wait for this game.
  • I know that it'll never happen but for once can the AI see your actions. The enemy AI at least. And this goes for a few games. Yeah there's a lot going on...still. At 3:12 is what I mean. Actions similar to it. Not one guard saw that? Not a single one? Not a one decided to question just wth he's doing? Still a cool looking game though. Edit: Idk, it just bugs me a bit.
  • Man Unity looks amazing. I love seeing more stuff about this. October 28 will be a good day.
  • Wow.... this actually looks pretty good and even fun.

  • Mod
I'm so glad we're back to amazing architecture like what was present in games like ACII. Being able to move freely through buildings looks awesome as well. This is the first AC I've been excited for in years. The options and ability to have those close up assassinations are something I missed as the series progressed.
  • i had a small bit of excitement for this game, but it just looks okay. pretty much like any other ac game.
  • My much work just to accomplish an objective. So boring!! Fortunately, these guided gameplay videos that Ubisoft does every year on their Assassin's Creed games are more fun to watch than actually playing.
