Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

A Look At The Pirate Life In The Open World Of Black Flag

Ubisoft releases new gameplay footage that shows off open-world possibilities of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

Black Flag takes full advantage of the Caribbean setting and allows players to immerse themselves into the pirate lifestyle.

Upgrading your ship is just as valid as taking over enemy ships and crews and making them your own. If naval combat is not your style, it looks like there is plenty to find in the lush island scenery as well. And, there are always assassination contracts to take on for some extra gold. Shark fighting is also a popular pastime

Do the new gameplay possibilities intrigue you? Let us know in the comments.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U on October 29. PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions are also planned for a later release.

  • This game is going to be AWESOME!!!!!!!! especially on next-gen
  • Yeah it's looking better and better.. I'll get it on PS4 though! Looking forward to how Ubisoft's A team does with 4.
  • Mod
It looks pretty good, I won't lie. But I thought this was a franchise about assassins. Not pirate/bounty hunters.
  • Seems like ships and exploration are getting more and more important than the story. "Assassin's Creed" seems to be dying, I would probably have bought this if they released it as an independent pirate game, but nope, they are going to have to squeeze Templars and Assassins into this somehow... Oh well, I still have my hopes for Assassin's Creed in China, if you want to know why, just click on my profile page and look at some of the fan art I found.
  • What system was this shown on? Only AC game I've been interested in. Can't wait!
  • I hated the Naval missions on Assassins Creed 3 I don't know why but I just did and this game just doesn't look like its for me. Sad to say that because I love Assassins Creed but I'm not wasting my money on a game that I know I'm not going to like.
  • Can I get scurvy in this game?
  • this game looks pretty good, but looks can be deceiving.. i wish it was a brand new franchise.. this is still just the old assassins creed game mechanics compiled into a pirate environment/surroundings... If ubisoft dont do better with game play mechanics for the next game,im gonna lay off buy´n a AC game on infinity.
  • No no no, I can't care less about the gameplay and the world, I want story and characterization, I want AC 2.
  • Every video I watch I get more and more excited for this game.

  • Mod
This might actually be something worth playing. *Reconsiders purchasing AC IV
  • Can't wait. I still need to upgrade to the Limited Edition. I still wish the Black Chest version was available for NA.

  • This reminds me of pirates of the carribean for the original Xbox so much.

  • It's a pirate's life for me.

  • Wow. I'm sold.

I love AC. It's my favorite new fiction from this generation, but AC3 left me a little sour. I had actually considered passing up on AC4. But this looks amazing.

  • I'll take new assassin's creed any day, even with some flaws.
  • I ll consider it when it hits the bargain bin

  • I think that the new game-play ideas are fantastic & even with being an huge AC fan I kinda died down on the games after I beat Brotherhood, I couldn't really get connected like I used to. After beating AC3 I just really didn't care to much for playing them anymore. Still great new idea's for IV and hopefully it has a pretty good story as well.
