The lights are on
I tried to play this, I really did. The first 20-30 minutes were great, very atmospheric. From that point on, though, the game went downhill. Background sounds began looping noticeably to the point where you were expecting them. The long stretches without any action or exposition really got on my nerves. The sanity meter became the bane of my existence, annoyingly distorting my vision if I left the light for even 30 seconds. The story was long and winding, not necessarily a bad thing, but in this case the pure length stretched past boredom. I hated the constant backtracking that the puzzles required. The whole noncombat aspect started out very scary, but soon got simply tedious. Overall, not one of my favorites and one of the most boring games I have ever played.
