What's Happening

Good ideas, bad execution.

When I first downloaded the demo, I was pretty excited. I had never really gotten into the original AVP when I was younger and I was eager to see what the game had to offer. After renting the game and playing about two online matches though, I was ready to delete this game from my hard drive.

After playing as all three classes, I didnt have much of an urge to return to being a human. If I wanted to be a marine, I could go play MW2 or BC2. Also, the movement sensor is a pain in the butt. At first I thought there was something wrong with my T.V. speakers and it would have been nice  to have the option to use it or not. It also would have been nice to have a sprint action since the marines apparently never learned how to run.

The alien and predator classes are both enjoyable, but lose most of their luster after a few matches. The aliens wall crawling is confusing and disorientating at first, but I got used to it after some practice.

Out of all three, I got the most enjoyment out of the predators. With multiple weapons to choose from, three visors, and invisibility, plus a helpful sprint, I found myself choosing the predator before every match, and backing out of a match if I couldn't be one.

The controls could have been better. To me they felt blocky, especially after playing games like Bad Company 2 and MW2. However, I could see getting used to them if you played a long time.

In the end, I was disapointed with this game, mostly because I knew that it could have been better and I saw potential.
