The lights are on
Creative Assembly's new Alien title, announced today, dials down the action in favor of the tense horror of the original Ridley Scott film.
Unlike many past games in the franchise, Isolation isn't about running and gunning - in fact, it's an experience more like Amnesia than AvP.
"Games in the past have looked at James Cameron's 'Vietnam in space' angle, but people haven't really dived into the wealth of the original source of Alien."
As a result, it's more of a survival horror game, casting the player as Ellen Ripley's daughter Amanda Ripley, who's being stalked by a single, fearsome xenomorph in the Sevastopol Station as she's on a mission to find out what happened to the Nostromo, the ship from the original Alien.
Using very limited weapons and the iconic motion tracker, you'll be much more the mouse than the cat. From what we've seen, it looks like the Alien game that's most true to the spirit of the series, and should hopefully help right the franchise's ship after its recent struggles.

"Brings Franchise Back To Its Horrific Roots"
Yeah like last time.
I'm not believing any gameplay footage from this game, not after CM, only after it's released.
I'll stick with Routine.
prob wont see many lining up to risk this game considering how hyped up CM was and it turned out to be a huge failure.
Is it possible for anyone to create an original story for a game in the Alien universe that isn't "Lets go visit a derelict location from one of the movies, oh look there are still aliens there?" The Alien universe is rich with possibilities yet it seems all the people charged with creating work within its confines just want to recreate the movies over and over again.
Oh, please be good! Please be good! Please don't be another CM....please?
hope. let us hope it will be ... more better.
Not the same developers as colonial marines so don't wrote it off quite yet. Plus being next gen a tab bit morepower at their disposal to hopefully help make it an awesome horror experience. Looking forward to hearing more about this in the future
F'N EPIC... I really hope the story flows with the gameplay, I don't want to just be Amanda Ripley wandering like a *** on a ship. Hate to be negative but Colonial Marines left me salty as hell. That said, super excited from the trailer and I think this will be a great game.
This sounds interesting.
This game seems solid. I could definitely see an Alien game done in the same vein as Amnesia. Creepy ass atmosphere with the occasional jump scares, and this nearly unstoppable monster hunting you? Sign me up.
The Total War developer making an Alien game?! hmmmmm....
Looks so much more better than Colonial Marines!
I am going to be skeptically optimistic at this point, but not because it's another game in the Alien franchise and Colonial Marines sucked, but because Creative Assembly doesn't really have a huge track record in games that aren't in the same gameplay style as the Total War series. I played their Viking game and while it was not a horrible game, it didn't really rise above being mediocre. So I am not yet willing to throw all my support behind the game, but I will keep my eye on it.
Seems like my cup of tea! I won't bash this game until I play it. Looks interesting so far!
Hopefully this one turns out better than Colonial Marines..
has the music from Prometheus, original story, horror roots...all in house no passing it around...all I have to say is...when can I pre order?
I thought you guys said this is next gen only. In the video description, it says Evolve is also coming to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Fail.
Honestly Ive never like any of the Alien or Predator games, something about them is just hard to make into a game (love the movies though). But this looks good. Reminder though guys: Dont get tricked by the trailer, you were fool'd before lol.
This is the Alien game I've been waiting for. I'm not sure why people want a game where you pick up a pulse rifle and mow down hordes of Xenomorphs. We have countless games that are influenced on the sequel Aliens. That's not hard to see. Yet people insist that that would the definitive Alien game.
This MIGHT be the one.
