Developer Forgotten Key released a new trailer today for its gorgeous adventure game Aer. Taking visual cues from Wind Waker and Journey, Aer is an exploration-focused game set in a shattered world full of floating islands. Luckily for heroine Auk, she has the perfect ability to get around.
Players take control of Auk as she picks through the ruins of a far-gone civilization. In the trailer, she explores grassy fields and snowy peaks both on foot and flying in her bird form. Auk's travels look relatively safe until she descends into a mysterious cavern and finds some sort of shrine. Her victory is short-lived, however, because a massive monster appears from the shadows. Afterwards, Auk is surrounded by a group of enigmatic blue phantoms. Could they be remnants of the old civilization?
Aer is scheduled for release some time next year for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
