The lights are on
Since the PlayStation 4 is slated to be released anytime between 2014-2017, what new technologies do expect to be built within? What other features or accessories do you think might come or be bundled with it? Just post your ideas here and see what radical thoughts you have. :D
Please do not feed the trolls. Violation of Internet Health Safety Code 115270-3B Subsection 2 Paragraph 1. Violators are punishable to up to 5 years in internet shame.
All i know is unreal 4 will run on it, and it will probably have a touchscreen somewhere on it.
Im Hoping it launches in 2016. PS3 sales are picking up. And there is a recession going on right now arould the world. Also PSV has just launched and will work well with PS3.
OK for PL4YST4TION : Revolution... I want Sony to focus on new experiences instead of better graphics. What I mean is
AI... There is a lot going on with AI and the CPU should be able to allow developers to create intellegent NPCs. (Behaviors, emotions, reactions, interactions with other NPCs and Playable charters... Think SMART live ES: skyrim)
Voice Synthesis ... Lots of work has been going on in Japan in this area. Just saw an special on this on TV wow singing... voice production... type and the computer speaks... Hawkings uses one... So why not have NPCs be able to speak instead of reading scripts. Have the AI come up with dioloag and then allow the NPCs to speak. Sure it will not be great conversation but start some place.
Physics... More please. I don't want to see trees fall so unrealisticly that it just kills the moment. I do not need total realism but the aim should be closer than it is.
Abilities. along with jumping, running, how about climbing! Not just along a pre determend path, but up trees, over fences, over piles of junk. I am tired of playing a game and then being stoped by something my kid could get over.
Better voice recognition... yes it is out now but not as good as it could be. I call places and the phone understands me better than most games that use voice recognition.
I know the CPU can only do so much but Graphics have taken the focus away from too much. The PS3 games look great and are still getting better. Its time to not put more CPU power into graphics but instead into other areas.
Call me crazy, but I'd just love for it to be affordable on launch day. As awesome as the PS3 became, given the launch day lineup I still feel the $500 price tag was outrageous, however I am fully expecting the PS4 to be somewhere in that neighborhood whenever it is in fact released.
All I want is, as Tim Allen says, more power! I don't need a lot of innovations, I just want the power needed to make games bigger and better.
I practically agree with Roland Gibson here. He practically summed it up.
All I want from the PS4 is to not feature nothing about motion nor touch screens, maybe
leave it as a secondary choice for those who likes it, but do not make it obligatory.
I have seen it announced that the PS4 will tie each game into a users PSN account and will only be playable when signed in. The idea being that is if you purchase a used game it will be playable as a demo until you pay a second time to unlock it.
If there is any truth to this I personally will never again purchase anything Sony related. This would represent a disgusting cash grab at best and cause a lack of innovation in gaming at worst. I know that I have seen games that appeared marginal and would not take a risk on them for 60 bucks, but at the used price of 30 I might. I have discovered whole studios this way and unearthed great games I would never have tried otherwise.
Removing the used game market is despicable. Unless there is an industry wide move to lower game prices to something more reasonable this decision is enough to make me abandon Sony altogether.
I know when I was a young gamer swapping a Nintendo game I had beaten with a friends game that he had beaten was one of the great joys in the neighborhood. Nobody's parents would purchase every single game a kid wanted. This sort of youthful swapping enhanced the pleasures of gaming. It made it so I tried games on a friends recommendation that I otherwise would have overlooked. Why ruin this for people now? It's a deplorable cash grab and I won't participate in it.
@Baconmanlives that's as fake as wwe, at least I hope so, Sony knows that way he will lose all his fans, ALL of them, and why you won't buy anything Sony related? I prefer Sony over Microsoft, he just makes you pay for everything!!
Yeah making it a requirement to be connected to the internet to play the games sounds too crazy to be true.

Assuming rumors are true and PS Orbis will launch Christmas 2013. I'm not expecting a big technological leap forward. Blu-Ray, WiFi, Move sensor. What I'd really like though is connectivity to Android devices like phones and tablets. Obviously remote play with the PS Vita. Maybe we can change the OS? We have to wait and see.
There will probably be some slight improvements to the controller as well, I wish the triggers were less finicky.

They said that they were geting rid of things that they did not need and the reason the price was so high on launch day was because you got a built in blue-ray player but I think that this one will not be so much because they are limiting things. What I want in the PS4 is better graphics, but I can do with the same ones that they have had, voice command, being able to transfer your trophies over and being able to play PS3 games. Also mabe even a diffirent achivement system all together, and mabe being able to put a pic up as our avatar and not having to use the presets or having to buy one would really be cool, better sticks on the controller that don't were down so easily and also stronger controllers for those ragers :), cross game chat is really needed, a touch screen on the controller that you could surf the internet wile your playing a game would really be a show stealer.
With all this in mind I don't think that the new system is going to be a big step forward I think that it would be more of an updated version of the PS3 rather a complete new console just maily cosmetic work rather than technological addvances, because looking at the PS3 there really is not much they can do but mabe make a quick change hear and there and mabe add a thing or two, but with the lack of info on the new console we can only dream at this point, mabe we will get to see something at this years E3.
I want 60FPS on Unreal4 caliber games, a couple extra cores just for the things that Roland mentioned, and not to lose all the crap i've bought from PSN this gen. Thats really going to piss me off if I can't play Shank 2 or Scott Pilgrim.
I also would like the initial price tag to be $400 or less. Blu-Ray really inflated the PS3s initial price, but with the current price of cheaper BR players that won't be an issue.
And I agree with cross game chat. And motion controls should be something you CAN use, not mandatory. Beyond that, a few great launch titles other than the 24 EA Sports titles, and ports from the previous Gen. I'd like to see a PS4 exclusive Naughty Dog or Sucker Punch game. inFamous 3 would be great!
PS4 needs to be backwards compatible with PS3. Needs to have more storage capabilities, Blu-Ray player, and a built-in wireless connection. Just my thoughts!
