The lights are on
Given the success or failure of Xbox Live gold membership depending on the user and the wonderful Plus membership that Sony introduced to encourage players to pay to play with discounted items and free games. Although it doesn't seem likely that Sony would switch up it's formula assuming that Plus is a success and would want to keep it's PS3 fans happy with free online services. But playing devils advocate let's say Sony does charge for it's core online experiences and due to the online fee they were able to improve their online structure and keep it much more secure. Would you pay?
As long as they keep doing great sales and free games... basically as long as the benefits for being a PS+ member remain intact I'd be alright with that. Currently I'm one of those suckers who is paying a subscription on xbox live because there's where most of my friends are playing
Probably. But my level of happiness would directly be linked to how much per month vs whether or not i would play online. I already pay for live and plus though...
Kill'em with kindness, it's a slow painful death.

I too am in the same sucker boat. Hopefully like the Vita, Sony will bring us an excellent party chat system and maybe we can convince our Xbox buddies to jump aboard the PS4 train.
I will never pay to play online, period. I already pay rent, electricity, phone, and internet. Why should I have to pay to play for a service I'm already paying for. Let's not forget that we're going to be purchasing their $450+ system (Estimation) to boot.
I personally do not see Sony taking the route of the Xbox. For one, Sony has Playstation+, which they've said has been a success. You're already paying $49.99 a year for plus. The only reason I enjoy online is because I can get day one digital, and I like to talk with fellow PS users on my friends list. And I could not live without my trophy list.
i would pay for it
I already pay for it, and it's actually paid for itself. It seems like the awesome psn network games have lately been free to buy for a period for ps+ subscribers. I remember holding off on the cave, for a reason I really still can't fathom, and it became free for ps+. Same thing earlier with double dragon neon. I'm thinking if I wasn't in such a hurry to play blood dragon, I probably could have waited and found it free for ps+ in a few months time. I guess the point i'm trying to make with regards to your post is, if they made ps4 "must pay" for online services, as long as they keep the current format of free goodies and early access to beta's etc, then I would absolutely gladly pay.
Yes, but I already pay for Live and Plus. Live functions better but Plus has waaaay more benefits.
I would. But its not going to happen. I'm a Plus member now.
No
I pay for PS Plus.... Because of what u get back.... I don't have Xbox live because I see no reason to give them my money for things I pay for like Netflix , Hulu plus.. Exe.. And what has Xbox live given back to us ....... Jack .... Jack ***....
I would. I would also resent Sony while doing so, but I would. I'm a Plus subscriber currently and IF Sony were to go that route I would hope they make it very similar to Plus if not better so I won't resent them so much if at all :D
If they include ps+ stuff in it, I'll definitely keep paying for it. I love ps+ so far, I've had it since the very beginning.
Well, looks like I'm going to have to pay one way or another, unless I move to PC gaming. I've always been on the fence about PS+, I guess this helps me make up my mind now!
