The lights are on
Definitely keeping mine when PS4 comes out, don't get me wrong, I'm still getting the PS4 but I don't see any reason why I should sell my PS3.
I'm keeping the new special edition 500 GB White ultra slim, as for my old fat one and the slim model gonna be trading those in for store cred towards the PS4.
Depends who you're asking. As for me, 33 yrs old, married with a kid then no. I say keep it. I'm using my PS3 as the living rooms Blu Ray player and for Hulu and vudu services and putting my PS4 in my game room/office next to my 360.
If you're asking a kid whose ps sits in their room then yes, trade it in unless there's a backlog of ps3 games they will wanna play.
Are the PS3 and PS4 games backwards compatible in online play as well? If a friend has FIFA 14 on PS3 and I have it on PS4, will online play be compatible or not? Curiosity
I would say no, not really, because if you did this in preparation, then you are selling it before the next gen comes out. That means you will have nothing to play! After that, I do not see too much benefit unless you are just looking to make money. I personally still have years worth of gaming from disc based games I merely have started to downloaded goodies I will beat on rainy days! My PS3 just gets to be the older brother!
I have kept all my PS consoles, with doubles of PS1 and PS2. My PS3 is an original 80 gig, which dubs for a nice coffee warmer it gets so hot...
And who would even bother trying to buy a PS3, who doesn't have a console, and wouldn't buy the latest version? Doesn't really make any sense whatsoever.
I definitely wouldn't. Seeing as how the PS3 games are not all playable on PS4 when it first comes out, I am most definitely keeping my PS3 around for a while. Even after I get a PS4. If I ever get to the point where I will no longer be playing the PS3, I'll probably throw linux on there and use it for something else useful.
I was in line for 3 cold days in November, in the rain waiting for my Fat Boy. Sooo no! it will get my respect & a spot on the shelf. I got hundreds of hours of entertainment from my PS3 & looking for thousands more.
