The lights are on
i think they will slowly make free features like netflix, demos, messaging and possibly online play premium only features ala live gold vs. silver subs. this only confirms my interest in pc gaming, which im migrating to soon "but i planed on using my ps3 for some games" but if they do this i'll stop using my very expensive ps3 and my hundreds or mayby a thousand dollars in games i got over the years. [snip - Please refrain from this kind of language in the future] what's your reaction?
UPDATE: Sony's Kaz Hirai stresses that multiplayer gaming will remain free even if premium subscriptions are offered.

I think you could restrain yourself. Where is the language filter on this site?
As for the paid subscription-- I doubt it will happen, at least soon. As long as regular gameplay is free, it wouldn't matter much to me anyway.
multiplayer on psn still free if they charge a subscription fee?yeah ill believe it when i see it.
As long as the multiplayer's free...
XBL: RoLLi7Z
No more PS3 :(
As long as online multiplayer remains free, anything else they may charge for a fee will be context sensitive to my wallet. Case in point: the Themes they offer for a price for your background, etc. It's all a matter of interest.
But I'll just laugh and laugh if they even think about charging for Facebook.
It's a me, Mario!
The only thing about this that worries me is whether or not this would affect their decision to place a pricetag on PSN when the next generation of consoles swings around.
I really don't care whether they charge or not if they leave multiplayer free. Otherwise they will have to off worthwhile content for me to fork up the money.
They're leaving multiplayer free, Isn't that pretty much all we have anyway? I mean other than Netflix, PSN doesn't have any features other than Multiplayer other than you being able to speak in game.
By the way, You could of left out the part about the you-know-whats.
Developed a new game called Feval.
It was already confirmed that online game play would stay free the only considerations they are looking into is they will do premiums such as early downloads amongst other things
everything that is available now for free will remain free. the premium service will only add to what is already available. probably things like guaranteed beta entrances, early demo rights, free Qore perhaps, probably cross game and party chat, amongst other things.
DON'T WORRY
TO WARRRRRRRRR
will it worth???
As long as I can text chat, PM, voice chat in game, and have access to the store, I'm good.
Ah, as long as the gameplay is free, I don't care what the premium features are. But I do think Last.FM is pretty cool on the 360. Anyway, if the PS3's premium features start interesting me, my Gold sub on Live is gonna have to go.
