The lights are on
Alright folks, I'm a man of meager income. I'm also a Sony aficionado. I thought there were some great games for the PSP, and before mine was stolen (bastards!) I loved every second of it. God of War, Final Fantasy, Ratchet and Clank, PSOne Classics. I was living the dream. But, now has come the time to either replace the PSP or pony up for the PSVita. Talking points:
1) Playing PSOne Classics is a must for me. I know they say eventually the Vita will support Classics but if this promise never rings true I may never jump on that bandwagon.
2) Lack of backward compatibility. From what I understand, I can't put Birth By Sleep into a Vita (or any PSP game for that matter). I know Sony is hating on the backwards compatibility in general, but that's why I opted for the 60G PS3. I still want to play those old games since I didn't get to finish them the first time around.
3) The Vita is pretty pricey. I snatched my 3DS the second the price drop, but who knows when Sony is going to do the same for Vita.
4) Having two handhelds is going to be a pain in my ass, but the 3DS and the Vita both have games coming out that I GOTTA play.
Just looking for some opinions. Should I wait on the Vita? Skip it altogether? Just get the PSP and play happily in the corner with the other poor people? What do you think?
Well your in a sticky situation if you ask me I bought the vita and I can garentee that almost all of them are on there for psone classics however.... I have no idea I personally think you should get the because no matter how awsome the games are on the psp and psone brand new ones (in hd a first handhelds) are coming. I am not lying when I say I loved my psp but the vita is 100000000000 times better in my opinion. but its your choice tho.
Simple answer: Wait.
If there are more games on PSP that you will play, buy a PSP. Very simple. It doesn't make sense to buy a Vita and you won't play it that much compared to a regular PSP.
1) remot play had it always avalable but to play it without accses to a ps3 that is coming this sommer
2)no umds kingdom hearts is the only game that you said that is unavelable and same ps3 as me
you can team up with someone in the corner so that you both can play all the games
IMHO I would get a PSP again. The Vita has just begun to live and down the road the selection of games will be vast. Eventually there will be a price drop, but the system is only 4 months old so don't expect it to do everything you imagined. I didn't get my PS3 until a year later after launch and I'm glad I did or else I would've been like everyone who was angry that there werent any games. Also, you can find the UMD's so much cheaper than they are on PSN
I've been contemplating the same thing. My decision? I'm just going to wait for a price drop. Why get an older system when a more advanced one is available? That's just me though.
What i would do is go onto a website like craigslist or any other find a cheap PSP get it (this will be used) then play on that until Vita drops and in the time waiting save up your money so you can get the vita and be able to play PS classics with PSP and play new Vita games and after the entire process is over it should be ruffly $350-$450. Thats what i would do, hoped this helped.
It depends what PSP you want but i recently got the 3000 new because the Vita was just a little to expensive for me and I am loving the selection of games on it. So if I were you I would get the PSP get games overtime and then when the price for the Vita goes down trade in the PSP and the games at gamestop (Recommend getting Power Up card) and using that money to get the Vita and your own money to get some games.
i would choose vita, mainly because the psp is pretty much dead.
BAM BAM WHAM BAM
COME ON, THANK YOU MA'AM

I would advise looking for sales on the Vita. It's worth it, especially if your PSP games are digital. There is a list of PSP titles that work on the Vita on cheapass games (google "psp games playable on vita cheapass"). PSP games look great on the Vita, and you can use the second analog stick with many of them. The screen is awesome. Also, I find that the Vita is much more comfortable than the PSP for extended play.
I have seen deals where the Vita comes with a gift card or memory card, or free games. I do think the price will drop either right before the holiday or right after.
@1morelvl - That's what I'm hoping for. That it'll drop in price around the holidays. It'll give me enough time to save up for one, including any games I plan on purchasing and whatever extra accessories I'll need.
Depends. Sony stated that the next firmware update for the Vita will enable it to play PSOne Classics, they just had not said which ones will be available right of the bat. There are good games for the Vita out now, and the library will only get better. So waiting will give you more options to choose from. Also, there will be Vita bundles for the holiday season, if you are patient enough.
With that being said, there are still some great PSP games out there to play, and for very cheap too. And if you are into JRPGs, it seems like once a month a new one is being released for the PSP.
I probably didn't answer your question with all those words up there, but if you can, I would suggest to wait until the holiday season to get a VIta. That way if there is no price drop, you can at least pick up a Vita bundled with a game and memory card to save some money.
think u should wait
I would definantly wait for the PSVita in my opinion.
