  • It took quite a while for me, but I must say I'm officially like a crack fiend for all things Metal Gear. I never seriously considered buying a PS3, but Metal Gear Solid 4 makes it soooo worth it.

  • I am excited about it as well. But I'm more excited for MGS: Rising

  • I will be impatiently waiting until the game is released. Maybe I'll have something other than Monster Hunter Freedom Unite in my PSP for  a change..

  • Me!!! I am actually buying a PSP for this game.... Well, that and LBP PSP. And Kingdom Hearts... But I am still soooo excited!

"Welcome to Tangares base.  You’re just in time for the dance party.  I’ve arranged a dancing partner for you.  DANCE TO THE DEATH!-Time Crisis

  • I am but I would like to see MGS Rising instead.

  • Me, I'm more excited about Peace Walker than Rising. Peace Walker will answer the one question that we've all wondered since MGS3: What events caused Naked Snake to become Big Boss? We all know that he'll become Big Boss by the end of the game,  but the events leading to that will be unpredictable. Rising will just shows us what we already know happens: [SPOILER] Raiden gets captured by the Patriots, turned into a cyborg and rescues Sunny from said Patriots. Plus, Metal Gear Rising may not even be a stealth game at all. Please don't hate comment me on this, but personally, I think Rising is just Konami cashing in on a character that everyone hated and now loves.

  • True Metal Gear fans are disgusted by the idea of Rising and are "meh" on the subject of Peace Walker.  I mean, it's good that Kojima is so excited about this game, but really, it was supposed to be over with 4.  We know who the patriots are, we know what happens, we don't need to see Big Boss forming Outer Heaven.  We already know that *** happens.

Konami knows Metal Gear sells, so they're going to *** it out for as long as they can.  I would have been happy if there never was an MGS4.  Snake Eater would have been a great ending for the series.  But no, people have to b*tch and moan about sequels since they don't understand Kojima's messages in his games.  Blah.  I'm rambling.

Will I buy both Peace Walker and Rising?  Yes.  Will I enjoy them, probably not.  Everything since Snake Eater has been crap.

Fans are obviously disgusted by Rising because its just an attempt by Konami to make money using a character that everyone used to hate (I won't even mention the other reason fans don't want it), but I think Peace Walker should be made. The reason Hideo Kojima is making it is not to just make money off of it like Konami is with Rising, but to truly explain why Naked Snake became Big Boss and did all the things he did in the early Metal Gear games. Did he see something terrible happen? Was it the death of someone he cared for? Was it the birth of Liquid and Solid Snake? We can find out when we play it and chances are, we'll enjoy it. Rising won't do as well because the game is supposed to have "lightning action" in a series all about stealth and if that's not enough, the game will simply have a story that we already know about. I think Peace Walker may be the last best Metal Gear Solid game (just as long as they get the PSP gameplay right)...but thats just my opinion and even if you don't agree with mine, I respect yours. Peace.

  • I'm actually mostly looking forward to Peace Walker now.  The lack of details before was what was putting me off, but for the most part, this seems like an incredibly solid entry into the series.  But if they retcon anything else, I'm really going to flip ***.

It's looking more and more like the game is going to span the entire 21 year gap between the beginning of the game and the beginning of MG1, which is 1995, for those of you who don't know.

  • I thought big boss formed outer heaven because he became disenchanted after having to kill the boss. nuff said. shoot your mom in the face and see if you dont get a little ill(I know she wasnt his biological mom but there is some form of maternal relationship there) Im still excited for peace walker though, makes me wish I didnt sell my PSP though.

I dont need a GIF-yes Im that awesome.

  • I don't care one bit for this game.  Portable Ops was a f***ing mess that ripped the canon apart and MGS4 finalized the series.  I don't want anymore Metal Gear games, Kojima needs to work on another franchise.  I'd love to see him do a new franchise using a framework similar to Heavy Rain.  It'd be an evolution of Snatcher and Policenauts.

  • I can say, I'm not excited one bit.

Not really.  He and Zero formed the Patriots to carry on the Boss's will, but he and Zero interpreted it in two different ways.  Zero carried on with the Patriots, while Big Boss formed Outer Heaven to create a country for soldiers, thinking that's what the Boss wanted.  The game's not so much about why he formed Outer Heaven though.  It's more about how he turned into the Big Boss that's in MG and MG2.  And how Miller defected from Outer Heaven.

Edit:  As for MGS4 finalizing the series?  No.  All Kojima ever said was that is was the last game in Solid Snake's story.  He explicitly stated that the series would carry on after GotP, albeit without Snake as the main character.  So, we have a Big Boss game and a Raiden game.

  • I know that.  But Solid Snake's story is the crux of the series in the eyes of a lot of fans, myself included.  Thus the end of his story and the way it ended marks a good point to walk away from the franchise for a lot of us, even if the franchise is still moving along.
