The lights are on
As a current Xbox 360 owner, I have recently been contemplating picking up a PS3. I am really just looking to round out this generation (already have a wii). The only problem, is I'm not sure what a PS3 has to offer. I already have a bluray player, so that perk is gone. And any game that isn't exclusive to the PS3 I can just pick up for my 360.
So my question to you PS3 owners is what am I missing out on? What are your favorite exclusives and why? The only two that I know of that interest me are LittleBigPlanet and Modnation Racers (which I know isn't out yet, but has an interesting premise.
Go.
How can you be new when your a silver. and if you have the money go ahead and get it i mean heck free online play so thats what should it to me that and its a blue ray player.
I'm a Legendary GI member.
I think what he means is since he doesn't have a PS3 there has been little reason why he would post in the Sony board. Which makes him new to the Sony lands of this website.
I would suggest you get it. If you can afford it why not? I basically bought a PS3 for two reasons: MGS4 and GoW 3. You should definitely check out the exclusive games and see if you're interested enough. Plus like Meta said the online is free....for now MUWAHAHAHA!!

lol supersnake that bit at the end is really freaking me out. but hopefully it will be just for premium features and not the online gameing.
Do I have to pull out the links again?
but seriously, depends. As of now Sony is in the process of overtaking MS. Really MS is losing any and all good exclusives while Sony is just getting theirs going. In addition to God of War 3 coming out you have Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Infamous 2, Killzone 3, Resistance 3, Heavy Rain, MAG, and a whole list of others.
Not to mention the only decent baseball game out there for now.
But really it's how you feel about it, and unless you truly feel you're missing out on something then I would say no.
Well, upon first looking at this question the obvious answer might be PS3. However, there are a few things that are preventing me from it: the 120GB slim is expensive, and is the cheapest on Amazon at $300. Most of the games on PS3 are also out for XBOX360 as well, which I already own (and have a LIVE membership for). PS2, on the other hand, is half the price of the PS3, and has many games that aren't available (even on PlayStation network downloads), like Shadow of the Colossus/Ico, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy (although most of these are on the Network), etc.
So, what should I get? PS3 vs. PS2 debate go! :)
Meh, definitely get a PS3.
You may own an Xbox 360, but the PS3 has some exclusive titles that you really don't wanna miss. To list a few, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, inFamous, Killzone 2, and the upcoming 256-player online shooter MAG.
Plus, you don't have to get a 120GB PS3. I believe the 80GB PS3 is backwards-compatible, meaning that you can play all the great titles from the previous generation console.
But on the bad side, the availability of the 80GB PS3 is really sketchy. I got mine at GameStop for around the $300 price of the 120GB, but I had to drive about 15 miles to get it.
But, if you can find it, get an 80GB PS3.

hmmm alright! That sounds like a good plan... So the 120GB isn't backwards compatible? (Stupid me, that question never occured to me)..
Also, is there HDMI for the 80GB or is it just regular HD A/V (which I don't mind, of course)
the only ps3 that is backwards compatable was the 40g launch version. As far as the op question goes...Grab the ps2 for $99 and pretty much every game at under $20 its a perfect time sink
Thanks for the response! So right now I guess it's down to a ~70-100 dollar PS2 or the $225 40 gig PS3. Will 40GB be enough for video games? I won't really be using it for anything else.
I think there were some 60 gig that were backwards compatible but those are kind of hard to find... Just remember new*er* 40 GB aren't BC.
GIOR Sponsor stuff :D
I'd just stay with the 360 has a more broader range of games.
Sometimes I wonder what this world is coming to.
Ahh. Oh wait, can't I emulate PS2?
My computer is running nVidia 8800 GTS 320MB, if anyone knows if that's up to snuff O_O
I would get it just for rachet and clank, resistance, uncharted, and GOD OF WAR! YEAH!
I have two Xbox 360 and one Playstation 3 that is a launch console and is one of the consoles that has the "issue" i have been thinking of trading in one of the 360's towards a PS3 slim and at gamestop now has a deal with an extra $30 towards a new console when you trade in a console.
I love 360 as much as the next guy, but as soon as I got a PS3, my 360 took a major backseat. The PS3's graphics are cleaner, it has a faster processor, free online connectivity, web-browsing, and the wonderousness that is Blu-Ray. Furthermore, it has some of the best console-exclusive titles out there, such as the "Uncharted" series and "Heavy Rain".
Don't get me wrong-I still own a 360 and love it. It has some amazing games on it, and the Live Arcade is awesome. I just love my PS3 more.
