The lights are on
As a current Xbox 360 owner, I have recently been contemplating picking up a PS3. I am really just looking to round out this generation (already have a wii). The only problem, is I'm not sure what a PS3 has to offer. I already have a bluray player, so that perk is gone. And any game that isn't exclusive to the PS3 I can just pick up for my 360.
So my question to you PS3 owners is what am I missing out on? What are your favorite exclusives and why? The only two that I know of that interest me are LittleBigPlanet and Modnation Racers (which I know isn't out yet, but has an interesting premise.
Go.
According to some recent reports the Playstation 3 is going to be around for at least another 8 years. In that time Im sure you'll be able to find some redeeming quality that Microsoft cannot offer. I own both an 360 and Ps3 and I find the social networking aspect to be much more fun on the Ps3. Also it has its own web browser so as long as you have Wifi your good. Oh hey and you wont have to pay $50 a year to play Uno with your friends.
Versus is a PS3 exclusive. FF XIII is X360 and PS3.
The online community is pretty good. I have been online since PS2 (Socom). My current friend list are friends from the city that I have made through that game. There is also PLAYSTATION HOME. An online community with lots of people to meet and things to do. For example, game launching, mini-games, E3 shows (they showed a loop of the whole show on a screen).
LBG, MGS, Socom, NBA2K,MADDEN. They're all good games to play online.

i seriously have a love affair with my ps3, so much so that my wife is getting concerned :P the online community is not quite up to the 360 to be honest, but you won't really notice. not to mention that you hafta spend up to $150 extra dollars on a xb360 just so it can do what a ps3 can do out of the box.
in terms of cool games to get for your ps3, definitely pick up LBG and MGS but i would also suggest Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (and the sequel coming out next week) and if you like RPG's pick up Demon Souls. Demon Souls is very traditional and very hard but its worth the game play.
just a side note: Square Enix already announced that Final Fantasy 14, which will be another MMO will be exclusive on the ps3 slated for release around 2011/2012.
if you love RPG's i would perfer you get a PS3 and since you do, well you should get a ps3.
the online world i cant lie it is no where near as good as the xbox online world.
me personally i love RPG's to death. so the ps3 comes in handy you can get RPG's for the ps3 and ps2
and yes they still release great rpg titles under ps2, you just have to look.
for example im playing Mana khemia 2, and Artonlico. - GREAT GAMES!

OP, look into Fat Princess if/when you get your PS3(you should definitely get one, I love mine). It's a heck of a lot of fun for 15 bucks.
I think Folklore is a pretty good one.... The only thing i'll mis on the 360 is the Fable series. But i'll get over it with Uncharted 2.
Well those are definitely two games you'll have a good experience with, both on and offline. Metal Gear Online might be a little iffy now, I'm not sure. I haven't played it in a while myself. LittleBigPlanet however, will cause you to lose a few nights though.

I absolutely love my PS3 too. The community is not bad at all, and there are some good games comming out. If you want to consider inFamous or Ratchet and Clank as RPG's, they're both great games. I'm not a Fallout fan, but it's apparently really good, so jump in.
I love the PS3!
Online community is essentially what you make of it.
RPG wise I could only personally recc. OBLIVION and/or FALLOUT 3.
And do not deny yourself the glory of METAL GEAR SOLID 4!
Well.....the PS3 has great games....but all my friends play XBOX 360 so it's not for me.
I say get the system your friends play....unless you have no friends....then don't get a system...go outside...and...meet friends...
The online community isn't as good as LIVE, but it is decent.
Demon's Souls is a really hard RPG, you might like that; Fallout 3 if you didn't get it on PC, cause it's better on PC; I don't know about any other RPGs cause I don't play many, but there are alot that are on both PS3 and PC, so I guess if you don't want it on PC, you could get it on PS3.
If you like any kind of action game, then Uncharted 2: Among Thieves would be a must have; inFamous might seem cool to you; Some games get bonus/ exclusive content on PS3, so you shold checkl it out (I.e. Assassins Creed 2 / AC: Bloodlines, Resistence 2 / R: Retribution, Batman : Arkham Asylum, etc.)
lol, that's for me as well, Harry Potter, all my freinds, except 2, only have 360 or none at all, so my online experience is lessened without socializing. Plus, the mic I got sucked.
360 = Corvette
PS3 = Ferrari
Also, you are wise to invest in free online gaming.
The online community is robust and not the problem I thought it would be when I decided to go with the PS3 over the 360 as my next-gen choice.
I just bought Demon's Souls, which is pretty awesome, other than that, Sony has always been the "RPG machine" maker, so I don't think there's a problem there, either.
Welcome aboard.

Haha.. I agree with a couple things in this thread for the PS3 - Valkyria Chronicles.. fantastic game. It's one of the two I own for my PS3 if that says much. Everyone always complains about the fifty dollars a year for Xbox Live.. it's updated with content more often, the caliber of exclusives far surpasses anything I've seen on PSN. I bought Fat Princess and have played it once online. Shadow Complex is incredible, especially as an Xbox Live Arcade title. Also, a lot of people are saying the community is great on the PSN.. what exactly are you referring to? Xbox Live has fantastic vignettes featuring recent game releases for achievement tips, general strategies, or semi-reviews covering the bases. Also.. Netflix streaming, anyone? I can stream Lost in HD or thousands of other shows or films for no extra cost than my subscription to both services. Rumor has it this feature may head to the PSN eventually as well, but Live has had it for quite a while now. The only valid point, although not necessarily a deal breaker for everyone, is lack of wireless out of the box. Coupled with the fact the adapter is 100 dollars makes it pretty annoying, however, I don't even use the one I bought anymore.
Now, I'm not going to totally bash on the PS3, but I would like to know what the OP, Matthew Proietto, saw in the PS3 that made him "favor it more." I do really enjoy the presentation of the menus and functionality of the multimedia aspects of the PS3.. I'm actually using it at this moment to listen to music. The main thing is if something catches my eye as a PS3 exclusive, that's why I have the console, but where the hell are they?
P.S. the controller is garbage in comparison, in my eyes =P Well, the triggers specifically, hehe
