The lights are on
Considering the extremely low percentage of PS3 owners that claim to have a problem after every major update, I'd say it's not a conspiracy, but just a coincidence.
I also question whether or not these people's PS3s were already bricked before the update, and were just waiting for an update to come out to try to blame Sony and attempt to get a free repair.
I've got the "yellow light" too! And right before Christmas.
Normally I'd just get it replaced, but I have far too much pride to switch to a slim that doesn't even have backwards compatibillity. And I have the 80 gig model.
But the worst part is getting all my new games and not being able to play any of them until my PS3 gets fixed.

HELLO ANYONE CARE TO HELP????
Okay so i recently got the PS3 but i need some directions on how to hook up online. I have a router and a network already set up, (from back when i had my Xbox 360) and i just need to know: what wireless adapter should i buy that will give me the best signal, how to hook it up, and when i start up the ps3 where to go.
Hey Bazz,
The PS3 has built-in wireless, so you don't need an adapter. When you start up your PS3, there will be a Network Setup option in the Dashboard. Head there and the set-up should be easy to handle.

HI guys, I just got a PS3 120 GB Slim for Christmas, and I just had a question about the hard drive. For whatever reason, it says I have 111 GB, not 120. Could it be that the main menu really takes up 9 GB?
Also, I had another question about installing games. I have two games so far, and after donwloading and installing everything, my console says I have like, 96 GB out of the 111 GB free. So basically, if I get 10 more games, I wouldn't have any more room on my hard drive. Then what happens?
Actually it sounds like you just have a couple of those games that have really large install files (Devil May Cry 4 and Bioshock come to mind, both have install files over 4GBs large). Most games have install files that are around 500MB so you shouldn't have to worry about space. I have a 40 GB model and I think 15 or so games and I haven't run out of room yet (though I am close).

Click here to go to the Playstation blog which explains what you need to do to get it.
For the past week I have been trying to update my Portable ID in my profile. However, playstation.com isn't letting me. I sign into my ps3 account and click on my profile. Then when I click to go to my Portable ID I get a page saying "Your session has expired". It logs me out and I have to sign back in again. No matter how many times I sign in I can't get to the page where I update my Portable ID.
Is this happening to anyone else?

You have to pair it with the ps3. If you read the directions that came with it it should tell you how to pair it, usually involves holding down the standby button for a few seconds.
Does anyone have a playstation that starts to overheat and the fan runs extremely loud? It's been doing this for a few months, but still seems to run fine.
