The lights are on
I''ve had my 60 GB PS3 ever since May 2007. I kept on a nice shelf inside a wall unit. However once I moved in the summer of 2008 I had to keep my PS3 on a carpet. It has yet to overheat. I am going to be getting a wall unit soon so I can move my PS3 up to a shelf again. So my question is, does my PS3 sound like it's going to fail on me any time soon.
Uh, going by what you said, it doesn't sound like your PS3 is in any danger of getting yellow light any time soon, especially if it hasn't ever overheated or froze. But, when you put your Playstation back on a shelf, make sure that there is plenty of "breathing room" for it, so it doesn't overheat.
I should know, my PS3 got yellow light in December, after having it for 2 years.
Nope not at all just make sure you vaccum the dust out of the system
Thanks everybody and don't worry, I dusted it when I replaced the hard drive
Just keep it dusted, and in a well ventilated spot. Also give it a break after playing for awhile (i'm talking like 4-5 hours).
Woah, never heard of a yellow light, lol. Looked it up, and now I know... But, based on what I read, just keep it dusted and stuff. Should be fine.
I unfortuantly have gotten the YLOD (yellow light of death) make sure dust is cleared from system. Also don't use a external or internal cooler that also can mess with your system. And don't use an air can because the chemical in it will mess with the circutry and break it.
While its best to take as much care of it as possible, the Yellow Light of Death can happen at anytime. I got a PS3 in April 2007 and got a yellow light in 2009, then after replacement I got another yellow light only one year later in 2010 and I take great care of my PS3.
My advice to you is to just take care of it and back up your save data, you can also remove slots on your account if you are the type of person to let other people have access to your PSN ID by calling Sony.
yellow light?
You cant believe everything you hear on the Internet, that's how World War 1 started.
