Graphics aside, I one i always had the most fun with and even continue to play today is Fallout 2.
The game had a wide variety of diverse and interesting characters, an interesting and compelling storyline and setting, a fun sense of humor, numerous side quests that had an actual impact on the ending.
The customizable character skills and traits, along with the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. feature to add points in a variety of ways made the game enjoyable to play several times over just to see the different effects of the stats and impact of decisions on the environment and NPCs. One of my favorites was making a character with intelligence of 1 and trying to communicate with various NPCs, which was pretty much impossible, where smarter characters have different, more intelligent dialogue options.
In addition to all these great features and open-world game play, you have the choice to be as good or as bad as you want. The variety of the good to bad choices was innovative and unparalleled for its time and I often played the chaotic neutral type... "might save your life, might steal your car." But if you wanted to run around being a white knight, you could. If you wanted to hit a random little kid in the groin with a sledgehammer, you could do that to. (Using the great targeting feature).
Overall, I believe no game has come close to replicating the kind of decision-making and customization paired with the rich RPG elements that Fallout 2 offered (not even the somewhat recent Fallout 3 and Fallout:NV). I'm sure it will be a game that I'll continue to pick up once in while to enjoy for long into the future.
Currently I'd have to say Dragon Age and Witcher 2, followed by KOTOR, KOTOR2, and Jedi Academy (it was just fun)...at least until SWTOR comes out :)
Assuming it doesn't need to be PC exclusive I'll say TES IV Oblivion since it's my favourite game of all time :P
There are loads, most really, of games that work better on the PC. Among those are DA O, the ME series, Fallout, The Witcher and virtually any FPS, RTS or RPG basically :/
Wow, this is a extremely personal question, which have endless answers (well, endless as in how many PC games there is). For me, it is hard to pick out a specific game, since I have used so many hours behind the computer screen. The games i have used most time on have to be:
- Elder Scroll series- The Sims series- Diablo II- Rollercoaster Tycoon series (mostly the first)
There is no universal "best PC game" , but everyone has their own, and these is in my opinion the best PC games :)
Well, I was thinking for a long time what to put here, but nothing came into my mind...
