The lights are on
Also give a constructive argument on why you believe the original Fallouts were superior to the more recent title, "Fallout 3".
I loved the original fallouts. There was nothing better than rolling in your car through the desert with 20k rounds for your minigun. Also King Aurthur and his knights, and the Bridge Keeper! Awesome encounters.
I don't really think it's fair to compare them. Fallout 3 was, as far as lineage and lore was concerned, a successor to the previous two titles. Gameplay-wise, it was a natural evolution for the series that improved on what the other titles had to offer, including transferring V.A.T.S. into a 3D space. Firing, and then being forced to stand still while your character got attacked in this 3D space would not work. I love the original games, but I love the newest one, too.
They weren't, fallout 3 is purely a breakthrough game :) take that PLAYA!
Lets Kill Us Some Charlie :)
One word. Nostalgia is a great feeling and that is what those games give me when I play them on the computer while on skype discussing different situations and laughing at funny animations while saying how much better they are than the third and everyone that says otherwise is a poser.
Unfortunately, for Fallout 3 Bethesda made it as a rehash of Oblivion. They took the same game engine, same game play, similar menus, same exploring style and simply changed the game from a medieval realm to future post-apocalyptic world. Most gamers had already played oblivion for 100+ hours, years before and were burned out on it. A highly anticipated game to come out years later and end up being nothing more than the same game updated and rehashed with a different environment, doesn't make for a great game.
I think the first 2 Fallout games were revolutionary for their times, while Fallout 3 is simply remastered Oblivion with a different realm. I'm not saying Fallout 3 is a bad game, but anyone who played Oblivion notices all the similarities and quickly becomes burned out, causing the game to lose its appeal and entertainment.
