Ugh this is about the 10th time i've encountered this problem in my life...i JUST got runescape members...but now i feel tmepted to play WoW...the $15 a month is unattractive to me...but i just wanna b a casual pc gamer...not hardcore in WoW like i used to...i feel like WoW is impossible for casual pc gamers but....its so *** addicting...post ur opinions pleez
by: "MMOs are like the facebooks and twitters of the gamer world," I meant that they allow us to communicate, talk, and play with our friends, I'm sorry for any confusion, I will edit my thread momentarily....
I agree that it is like social networking. Only more fun(unless you are like me and have limited access to PC gaming). And actually like to recreate myself as much as possible in MMO's. Obviously it's not me, but I try to role play as myself. If that makes any sense.
If you post it, they will troll.
I agree with Luke and generally play the same way. Although sometimes it is fun to make someone completely different. But yeah I agree with the OP overall that, yes, mmorpgs are like a virtual social networking. It's fun to be able to roam around in a world and get sucked into that alternate reality, make new friends, make enemies. I mean, in some ways they are so much like the real world, interaction wise at the least, it's almost scary.
My getting into MMOs had nothing to do with friends of any sort, really. I know this sounds self absorbed, but I liked to be able to earn my way above others in a game that's massively played. Sure the friends part is a bonus, but competition has always played a major role in my gaming.
yah. it's the interactivity. would you rather face down a horde of zombies by yourselfor with a whole party of friends. kind of a no brainer ain't it?
And that's what she said.
Good choice solidsnake ;)
You pretty much answered your own question NerdyPunk: MMO's are popular, and fun, because they let us interact with our friends in a virtual world where you can do anything you want, and you can make new friends inside the game. I can't even make myself play the traditional, single-player console RPG's anymore because it is not the same as playing an MMO as great as WoW, although Final Fantasy still holds a dear place in my heart :)
aionnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, Final Fantasy XI, or Guild Wars lol XD
Aion 15 a month
Final Fantasy XI i think 13 a month
Guild Wars FREEEEEEEE lol
SOOO I never played WOW except for once and didnt like it. I played AION and loved it :D Soo which between them two do you like playing? I know people say their exactly the same in some ways but I dont see how. I much prefered AION over WoW.
There is no right or wrong answer here. Its a matter of preference and taste. Personally I stopped playing WOW since the beginning of October because of Blizzard's incompetence at establishing parameters to help keep and maintain healthy server balances. I played on Cho'gall for 3 years at the start the server was pretty healthy, then right around the time when Wrath was released the population started to shift. Now the server is 98% horde and 2% alliance (I am alliance and this is a pvp server). Its so bad that Blizzard finally listened to our pleas and opened free transfers onto our server for alliance only but its much too late and not many people wanted to transfer on.
Needless to say this has completely negatively effected my gameplay to the point that it just isn't fun at all. So I just canceled my subscription and stopped playing because games are suppose to be fun and I just wasn't having any anymore.
Also from what I hear, Aion is a major gank fest for the lower level players.
I don't think I will play another MMO again unless someone release an awesome FPS MMO. That would bring back my love of mmos
what do you mean by gank fest? o.o
its a massacre where the little players (in terms of level) are being annihilated by the bigger players.
I didn't play Aion because I didn't like what I saw in the videos and to me personally I figured I stick with WOW because its still one of the highest ranked mmos out there. But thats just me, maybe Aion has something in it that WOW lacked that makes it more appealing to you.
lol XD customization and graphic's got me :D
Lich King made it possible to be a casual gamer and play WoW. Not putting in that much time I went 70-80 in 2 weeks and had 8 epics my first day at 80. The early end game and now leveling is very casual friendly.
Do not play WOW!!! (Warning! this message comes from someone who has never played wow, or taken it seriously, so I am unfairly biased). But coming from a financial angle, save up for the next big MMO, Blizzards working on another one, or play the Old Republic if thats any good. But start an MMO fund or something.
