I just got a Lenovo ThinkCentre A70 with a Celeron E3400 2 GB DDR3 and I wanted to put a better video card in it. The card I got requires a 450 watt power supply.

My question is can i just replace the 180 watt power supply with a 450 beforw i put the card in?

Any advice is appreciated.

It should work, although for gaming I would suggest adding 2 more GB of RAM. But you're going to have to check your motherboard's manual on that. If everything else is okay, then sure go ahead.

Here's some advice before its to late. The bigger the power supply the better. But you will end up wasting a lot of money if you buy the wrong one. All mother boards have a certain power supply input they can take. If you have between a 100 and 699 Watt power supply, you can not upgrade to a power supply with or including 700 watts. I suggest you keep the video card you have now and upgrade to a 500 watt power supply. That is what I did and and my computer is running beautifully.

What exactly are you trying to do with your PC? If you're trying to play older games (i.e. Command and Conquer), you have the right equipment. To play modern games like BF3 or Crysis, which is why I assume you're posting this on GIO, I recommend at least an Intel i5 processor or AMD equivalent, 6 GB DDR3, and a NVDIA GeForce 560 or Radeon equivalent.

Before you spend big bucks on a video card, I recommend you learn how to build a PC from scratch. Building your own PC is SUPPER easy. Just check out some of the youtube newegg videos:
